PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Hi Guys, I recently purchased my MD-11 and it a fantastic piece of software.I have gone through the tutorial several times, changing things here and there basicallytrying to figure out how it works. I also recently joined IVAO and found this to be an amazing addition to the MD-11 as I now feelthat its as real as it can possible get sitting here in my computer room. I can't wait for the advanced tutorial as I need as much help as possible with this hunk of metal. Hello,I'm a bit new with the PMDG MD-11 and I have this wierd problem: In cruise, at a random time, my engines (all of them at the same time) shut down. The wierd thing is that then all I do is restart them without any problems like I would on the ground and after that, for the rest of the flight, they run fine! This happens every flight, only once, and seems unavoidable. I check my fuel and there is enough, but it still happens! Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!Karan Kant

Hi all,Ive purchased the MD-11 the other day and have completed the tutorial and am beginning the daunting task of learning how to fly this plane. Ive have noticed something strange, the outboard slats and flaps do not seem to deploy, or at least do no appear in any spot or wing views but seem to appear as deployed on the CONGIF SD page (flaps have 50 49 under EACH wing, making me thing both the inboard and outboard are deployed?). Likewise if I extend the spoilers only the inboard portion seems to extend on each wing.Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong or could this be an installation problem?Thanks

I've tried flying into SDF twice today, and both times I had to switch my approach in the FMC from ILS 35L to ILS 17R, and both times Flight Sim locked up. This has never happened before. Could it be corrupted AIRAC data? I have the latest one from NaviGraph. I'm truly at a loss.FS9.1MD-11 with patch

I was wondering to what the correct procedure is taking manual control of the plane after you are established on ILS approach, but up to this point have been flying on autopilot. Do you just pull down the AFS OVRD OFF switches or something else? Thank you. Also after landing the "autopilot" voice keeps repeating and I don't know how to shut it off, my PFD shows "RETARD" where speed would be with "ATF OFF" circled and the "HEADING" & "ALT" circled a/p off, also shows T/O CLAMP 1700 in ALT section? I've loaded the MD-11 tutorial flight (very helpful) but I'm having trouble getting the same results as the tutorial FMC when enterning the flight plan. Hi,Just purchased the MD-11 for FSX. But I have 2 questions:Is it possible to load the MD-11 completely turned off, where you have to get it powered up manually, if so how do I do it.Also I can't figure out how to get rid of the amber "CONFIG" from the engine display screen & i'm assuming while on take off a voice comes on and keeps repeating "Spoiler" maybe related to the "CONFIG" staying on?Thank you for any input.

I am curious to know if there is a utility out there that can simulate loading the MD11F?I have started using AES for FSX with my MD11F (Ive used AES for FS9 for a while now) and have set the jetway and fuel/catering/bagage vehicles to go to certain spots on the aircraft, but I dont have anything that looks like it is loading the large cargo bay on the left side of the aircraft.Is there any utility out there that can be added to replicate this?Thanks

Recently upgraded my computer and installed FSX, patched to SP1, etc. Found order ID info and installed PMDG MD-11 and patched to v1.20. Trying to follow Tutorial flight but FSX crashes when I try to load MD-11 from "Free Flight" screen (the usual dialogs come up asking if I trust the PMDG DLLs to load, etc. before the crash).Tried uninstalling and reinstall without patch to MD-11 v1.20 - same problem.I have several other add-on aircraft (e.g., Eaglesoft SR22, Wilco/Feelthere Citation X, etc.) and they all load fine. I've always had an occasional problem with the auto thrust dropping me down from TO thrust to CRUZ thrust after the FO calls out 80kts on take off roll, but lately it's been the norm. Makes no difference what engines ....if I use the flex option the auto thrust will drop from TO thrust to Cruz thrust when the First Officer calls out 80 kts.I suspect somethings corrupt somewhere. I've tried the MD11 repair utility, deleting the FSX config file and reinstalling the airac files, but with no luck.Any suggestions?thanks in advance,Ken

When flying a successfully entered flight plan in autopilot I descend correctly on reaching the T/D point to the pre entered approach height and then speed is reduced per the FMC control and after correctly lowering flaps and undercarriage the MD-11 makes a perfect auto landing.If however I decide to descend to approach height before the T/D point, how do I do it?There is no FLCH button as on the 747-400X and if I obtain my approach height by entering (say) -1500 in the V/S window although I come down to approach height I don't appear to get any speed reduction on approaching the airfield. Hi,I have a problem with MD11 in FS9: When I enter the departure/destination in the init page in the CDU, FS9 just freezes, and I have to restart the whole program (ctrl-alt-del). Also the IRS takes a long time to line up, even though I set it to line up instantly. And sometimes i get just black screens when i try to open the PMDG submenu in FS9. I tried to re-install MD11, but to no succes, alas. Hi all,I know that there is a big problem about the fuel prediction in the MD-11 for the miss of the charts and the informations about fuel prediction...I have found this Fuel Planner tool, and i found it very useful; the only problem is that it not take account of the winds and of the FL.I think that with some calculations you can resolve the wind problem, but for the FL i have no ideas.Here's the link:Fuel Planner ToolI hope this can help you...;-)Paolo Bianchi

I purchased a copy of the MD-11 for FS-2004 when it came out. I recently built a new PC with FS-X and I would like to upgrade the MD-11 to the FS-X version.... is there an upgrade path or do I have to purchase the full retail FS-X version?Phil R.

PMDG MD-11 brake problem:The program is FS9 and I have the last update for FS9 (1.20.0055)When I have landed with Autobrakes on, sometimes the brakes will not go off....I turn the switch to off, but brakes stay on and then it is impossible to taxi.I use the pedals from CH-Products.I must say: mostly everything works fine, but somethings the brakes sticks....Is this a bug or what goes wrong?Richard

Hi all,I'm in a bit of a pickle with what appears to be a repeateable CTD when only using the MD-11. I have noticed this now on both my old E8500 system and my newly built i7 920 system (specs below). My current test-flight involves departing the FSDreamTeam Las Vegas Intl (KLAS) and flying the eastward jet-routes to ImagineSim's Atlanta Intl (KATL). In each case, I've been using the ERLIN5.MEM approach route to ether 26R or 8L. Each time, during the descent phase, my FSX system will freeze and appear to lockup. My display on my ND for wind direction & speed is something that I have never seen before. Instead of the single line arrow in the direction the wind is coming from, I get two arrows intersecting each other at 90deg and two...I'm assuming here....speed numbers. I've got the Winds aloft checked in my display options so I don't know what is happening here. Anybody got any ideas?jack
