PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I can't think of anywhere else :-)Presumably MD-11 freighters are used on sectors that are comparable in length to those flown by passenger configured MD-11s. That means that at least some of the time they would need a spare pilot or two ...Does the snoozing pilot just throw on headphones and a blindfold and blob out in a jump seat or is there some trickier arrangement for crew rest on long haul cargo flights ?And a further question that just occurred to me, how many spare seats are there in the cockpits on these ?ThanksGary

I'm enroute KOAK - PANC and decided to test something that I dont think is in the PMDG docs. If any of the FADECS switch to ALTN on the P&W equiped Aircraft we lose all A/T however the G&E aircraft will still provide A/T in a degraded mode. This is Simulated with the PMDG aircraft, can anyone explain why the P&W aircraft lose A/T and also what is degraded on the G/E powered Jets.ThanksRob

Here is my latest paint for the MD-11 its N270WA which was with Finnair up until a couple of months ago . While it was with Finnair the reg was OH-LGA . Currently the aircraft is in Taiwan getting a repaint and will look like this . Hope you like it and it will be on flightsim .Lee Marrow

Hey guys, first post here. Im looking for the Fuel Load Planner for the MD-11. Hopefully there is a similar one like in the 747 manual. Hopefully Im clear on what im asking for. It shows you what fuel to load for the length of trip, and what altitude you will be cruzing. I have looked through the PMDG Md-11 manauals, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.On a side note, I learned my answer by searching a little bit, but thanks anyways guys. James B. Bower

Hi,I've recently bought the Mc Donnell Douglas MD-11X for my FSX. After install it I launch Flight Simulator X, Then a message where I have to accept for using this software appear. I clicked Accept and after that, FSX stops itself.I had the 747-400X installed before this new installation and the both software are Boxed/DVD products by Aerosoft.Thank you

No matter if free or payware.Being the third biggest cargo airport, I always wanted to fly there with a MD11F. Hi,In VC I get 60 FPS without a problem (it's limited to 60, so it could go higher). But the problem is that the displays in MD-11 (FS9), no matter what FPS limit I set in Performance Tuning, are updating at perhaps about 10 FPS, and never smooth.On 747-400, displays are smooth and update with the FPS I set in settings.The PC is defragmented, no anti-virus app running or anything that could slow it dows.I have Windows 7 RC x64.Thanks for any helpIvan

Hi! I bought this addon a couple of days ago. I have succesfully completed the tutorial flight, but when I'm trying to fly my own routes I always run into trouble. Firstly the autopilot doesn't seem always to be able to turn when it should and the aircraft will go off course (even if I'm not using time acceleration). SOmetimes it will overfly a waypoint evenif it should turn and sometimes it just doesn't turn fast enough.If I'll change my STAR and the TOD point will change FSX will pause at the old TOD point. When passing the new or old TOD and having a lower altitude selected on the autopilot the aircraft doesn't start the descend.On my latest flight I got a warning tha…

Hi,I went into the menu to tweak the LSAS setting, and when I returned to the sim, the main panel was missing completely (2D), and the textures outside were missing in places, too. Went back into the menu, and upon returning, FSX crashed.I'd only been flying about 6 minutes.I'm going to install the previous version until these issues can be addressed. :(Best regards,Robin.

hi everyone, its me again, no dont run away, i need a possible explanation. this is in relation to my earlier post yesterday. i loaded the fs9 md11 with the route egpf - kjfk. everything went well throught the flight with the autoflight and profile working in harmony. i reached the point when the aircraft was about to turn into final appproach to runway 31L with land armed when suddenly the system crashed to ctd. i have a high end computer with 8gb memory, i mention this thinking that memory may be to blame but i think 8gb should be more than enough for a flight of 2878nm and i had 11 tons of fuel for landing. i realise there could be a multitude of reasons, but has an…

Hello fellow simmers,after the tutorialflight and a few homemade flights with the MD11 in FSX I have a few questions about the FMs and one other Question as well. First how can I clean the FMs from all old flights? For example I plan a short hop from EDDF to EDDH and want to insert the waypoints myself. I type in flight from EDDF/EDDH. It shows my old companyroute that I made before. I suggest to ignore it and go on with the flihtplaning. It then shows EDDF ----Flightplan discunity-----EDDH........EDDF ----Flightplan discunity-----........EDDF ----Flightplan discunity----- and so on. two pages!! So is there a way to clean the FMs and start from the beginning? So next ques…

hi all, i am looking for some help. i am trying a route over the pond for the first time using Routefinder.asalink. i am flying the md11 and the route is from egpf(glasgow) to kjfk(Kennedy) the route in the FMC is ok to the waypoint PIKIL after which lat.long takes over and the lat.long. is 57N020W, 57N030W, 56N050W, 53N050W, but i cannot get the FMC to accept these numbers, i get messages in the scratchpad saying not allowed, not in database, and i referred to the download pmdg md11 fms preflight pages but could not find any reference to the installing of lat.long in the FMC but there is a reference relating to Place/Bearing/Distance lat.long which i dont know if this c…

I know this is an old topic, but I searched for the old thread and couldn't find it, but I recall it never answered my problem.When I try to enter the to/from on line LSK1R(xxxx/xxxx) on the F-PLAN INIT page, nothing happens except my computer locks up completely. I have to do a manual restart to get it to run again. I have no problem entering a CO route on LSK1L. Suggestions!!Art StuartKABQ

Hello:When I click on any of the displays including the FMS, FSX crashes. Sometimes if I start to fly with out clicking the displays they will work. I have had the MD11 for six months so this is a new problem. I have to do multiple boots to get the problem to go away.Any ideas would be appreciated.Don

i have seen that when the flaps are engaged to 50 i see movements on the inner set of slats and flaps only and the outer ones on the wings do not move out at allis this normal or is it supposed to move,one of the pictures in this forum has the entire set of flaps both inner and outer ones extended as they should beam i missing any settingsvivek

I am running PMDG MD-11 on FS2004.Whenever I run the installer for a new livery, it fails to appear in the aircraft menu within flightsim. It's like nothings happened.But when I check the aircraft folder on the C drive, the AAL.texture folder appears as if it installed normally. It's not just the AAL livery, I just used that as an example. None of them work.Any ideas?Thanks!
