I'm still struggling with take-offs and the "protection" mode kicking in. I've found lots of answers with a search so I'm still working on that. Take-offs are very hectic and knowing, automatically, when to engage various "schemes" after rotating will come with more practice. One thing that seems to ring true in most of what I've found is that the TO stab (trim) setting appears to need some serious pilot input after rotation? I've tried following the FD cues with very little luck avoiding the "protection" override. I'm beginning to wonder if the "stab" setting shown in the CDU is way too "nose up"? Beyond all that I have some other, less "critical" questions. My MD-11 loa…

Hi,I've noticed whilst playing with RNAV approaches that when I perform a go around, the FMS sometimes loses the perf data so it no longer computes approach speeds, despite it apparently having all the required data to do so.It also means I can no select a destination ("NOT ALLOWED"). Is this correct behavior?I've also noticed that if I do a touch and go, that again, the FMS thinks it landed and loses all the data. I can't believe this to be the case in reality.Best regards,Robin.

Hi,I tried an RNAV approach to JFK RW31R last night, and all was going well, until I set minimum PROF descent altitude on the approach.I'd selected the approach (RNAV RW31R), the STAR (CAMRN4), and entered the minimum profile descent altitude as per the current charts. Everything looked good.I descended to 3000 ft in PROF mode. This was fine. Levelled off, and was waiting to turn finals. I selected 400 ft in the altitude window. As the aircraft turned finals, I hit PROF.On the FMA I had PROF TO 400/PITCH 1900.It got to the next waypoint at 1900 ft (correctly) then just levelled off. Shouldn't it have just kept descending all the way to the next waypoint (runway) levelling …

Looks like Tradewinds is now flying the MD-11. Any chance at getting a Tradewinds livery for the MD-11 in FS9? I see the repaint kit for the FS9 version still isn't out, so would a 3rd party have to wait for that to make the paint? I don't have the time or skills or I'd attempt it. I imagine someone might want an FSX version too though. So few real world routes, we need all the current paints we can get!http://flightaware.com/live/flight/TDX986

How do you enter a flightplan, manually, in the MD11 CDU? The tutorial doesn't do much for me as it wants you to load the tutorial flight...not much help. On page 33 it describes (supposedly) how to enter your flightplan manually...but then asks for a SID...I'm not flying a SID. I want to do this...enter my first waypoint, enter the airway, enter my next waypoint, enter the airway, etc. like I do in a Boeing (I know...it's NOT a BOEING :( ) Whatever. I followed the instructions and managed to enter a page of airways/waypoints (I think)...but then I was at the bottom of the page with no ability to add the next airway? Please tell me the PMDG MD11 CDU can handle more than …

Im not sure if this makes sense at all but when I use trackIR with the md11 it seems Im always so low in the seat, I always have to sit up really straight to look over the panel, I have really noticed when Im using the leveld 767 or my fs9 pmdg 747 that I have a really good view of the cockpit, it seems that Im sitting a little higher up for some reason, now with trackir you can't use the fs commands to raise and lower your seat, I was wondering if there is something in the md11 cfg/ camera definitions that I could adjust to be sitting up a little higher? I hope I make sense, any advice. Thanks

helloi am planning to add some hardware to my cockpit... one way is to juse "keyboard commands".i changed the settings for "SPD Bug Increase" and "SPD Bug Decrease", but its not working. (on my G15 keyboard)the "key definition" worked as you can see in my "PMDG_MD11_Kbd.ini":[Doors][FCP]SPD Bug Increase=Ctrl+Shift++SPD Bug Decrease=Ctrl+Shift+-AUTOFLIGHT=Ctrl+Shift+PIAS/MACH Toggle=Ctrl+Shift+

Good day all. I have a simple question I'm sure somebody can answer. After autolanding, it seems like my rudder turns all the way to one size. To fix that so I can taxi, I press disengage on both autopilots. When doing that it unlocks the rudder, but then the computer system keeps saying over and over something in the lines of autopilot off, autopilot off. Any ideas how to avoid both issues?

I recently had to re-install windows XP. I'm now just about back to square one. However, I'm having difficulty with the installation of the MD-11 in both FS9 and FSX. In FS9 everything loads fine, exept after the initialising countdown I have green crosses through the three instruments and there are no displays. The engines are running. All other views, switches etc are working. In FSX the 2D panel is completely grey - just a grey outline, no gauages, nothing. Everything is there when panning around. In 3D mode the instuments are blank as if all power has been turned off - but the engines are running. This happened when first installed into FS9 and FSX after a fres…

Hi fellow (sim)pilots,I read this article: http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/GenPDF.asp?id=ANC05IA002&rpt=faand I wondered if it is possible in the PMDG md11 to retract the center gear before take-off? I know you can land with the center gear retracted, but how about retracting the center gear at the gate?I tried to reproduce this flight, I flew a ferry from EHBK to EHAM, on two engines (1 and 3) #2 was not started.During TO roll the "ENGINE FAIL" indicator activated (of course, this is to be expected) but went out as soon as the plane was airborne. I switched the fuel system to manual, in ordere to divide the fuel in the center tank to eng 1 and 3. In the PERF page of the…

Hi,this morning the ATC told me to cross 040 Nm from AMS VOR at 11000 - 250 Kts. How can I do that? I guess I should use the FIX page to get a radius depiction on the EHSI for reference, but I can't understand which is the correct sintax. Thanks for your helpCheers

Hello,The Overhead Panel of the MD-11 has the switch at the top/back left which disables the most of the overhead panel to gain frames. Is it possible to have this feature durable ON by changing sth in the aircraft.cfg or panel.cfg?Or in other words, is it possible to disable the Overhead Panel like the switch does it by changing sth in the cfgs?thank you very much, guenter steineredit: btw: is it a good idea to make some subforums here for the different products of PMDG: a MD-11 Forum, a J41 Forum and so on....?

How can I change the nose turn direction of pushback of PMDG MD-11 in FMS shortcuts? The default setting is RIGHT, how can I change it into LEFT?I tried type "L", "LEFT" in nose turn direction, even "-90" in the turn degree, but there was always a promotion of "format error". And I checked all the manuals and I could find nothing about that.Could anyone help me? Thanks very much!

About to buy the MD11X in a few days. I already own the 747X and love it, but im worried about how well they both play together. One of my friends had a problem where when he installed the MD11X, his 747 would'nt show the gauge bitmaps and would only display a bitmap with the FCP on it. He told me it had something to do with the PMDGOptions.dll. I was wondering if i should be warned about this... I assume others are using theirs in tandem fine, but i would like some re-assurance before i dish out another 80$.Thanks!!!

After doing a night flight in the MD-11 after a long long time (normally I fly during the day) I noticed that the cockpit it actually quite light...there's hardly any need to use the instrument lighting. My monitor is set up correctly...it's not that my TFT is too bright. I'm wondering if there's any way (via a cfg file maybe?) to get a 'darker' cockpit?Or is this something that's only related to FS9?Apart from the above question: what setting is responsible that certain lights (taxilights on the airport, citylights) are looking blurry (almost like they're all blending into eachother). Is that AA, AF, Midmap related?
