I have noticed a problem ( or maybe it's not a problem) for a long time regarding the Display of ILS Frequencies on the Approach Reference Screen. In the past 2 days I have flown 2 flights where the ILS Frequency was not displayed until I was already on the ILS about 10DME from the runway. Luckily I have FS Nav and can read the ILS frequencies as soon as ATC gives me the runway assignment. Prior to FS Nav , it was a real problem to have to constantly look at the Appr Ref screen as I was intercepting the Localizer, and sometimes I would overshoot the localizer ( under ATC vectors) and still not have the ILS Freq to tune into. Is this a normal function of the FMC, and if …

Why why why? This is becoming a trend in certain flightsim products, and I seek to know why certain FS2004 add-on products refuse to work under Windows 2000, thus forcing the prospective buyer to spend even more.

I've tried every sound slider selection I can think of to 'turn DOWN' what appears to be the "environment" wav. Basically, it appears to be the replication of the old steam gauge sound after the main cluster completed its spool-up. Usually in FS9, as you switch view from interior to external, that sound is replaced by either cabin, or external wavs, the latter being the quiet one. In my config, an annoying & constant "zzzzzzclunkzzpopzzz" sound persists -even in 'pause!' Question: anyone know of how one might extract the wav set without a complete re-install?- Ron McLeod CYEG

Forgive the stupid question but is there a way of completely deleting routes that have been saved in the FMC once they are no longer required?ThanksBen

Hi everyone! This is my first post in the forum (and in english...i speak spanish so be patient :() so i will really apreaciate if someone can help me.A friend of mine (the one who asked me to post this message, his english its even worse) have installed the PMDG 737-800 with aaaaall the updates. It has the CH Yoke and Pedals, but when he get into the Simulator, and try to taxi or flight, the screen says "differencial brakes", when actually, he is not pressing the brakes, and even he is not touching the pedals. I am not sure if it happens with the other aircrafts. He has the FSUIPC registered version (3.22).So, if someone could help him it would be great. Thanks.Felipe Ca…

Friends and fellow lovers of all things PMDG - I had a bit of a hunt through the manuals on 737-6/7 (Note - I do NOT have 8/9), and couldn't find much in terms of GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning Systems).Sure, sometimes when I fly a little misconfigured while established on either a VOR/DME or ILS I get a DON'T SINK (particularly when I do a Go Around). In attempting to replicate an incident which occurred here in Oztraya, a link included below, I was wondering if the GPWS might act *like* an EGPWS if terrain mesh scenery is installed?Any pointers on how the GPWS is enabled for the 737-6/7, and if there is any difference in the 8/9, would be warmly appreciated.Link: http://…

It has been widely discussed, to my knowledge without any written intervention from PMDG.Now i did a "scietific" test.I used this routeDEP: LIRF 25ARR: LIRA ILS15 TRANS URBECRZ FL 120Waypoints:medaltaqcmp /6000Aurb 200/3000Avarious points inserted by the STARThis has been the same for various flights with the 700, in many weather and weight conditions. The FMC once i have inserted the URB hard constraints, automatically creates a DECEL point a few miles before URB.There has been not a SINGLE TIME that the aircraft has been able to maintain the VNAV path.Every single time the Vnav disconnected saying "VNAV Path Unachievable".Now this should prove that there is at lea…

Gentlemen,A two-fold question:For a flight KTNT to KATL, I have set, as an example, weather in FS9 to "Major Thunderstorm", and although I see no clouds above FL270,I see the airspeed jumping up & down, and the engines spooling constantly up/down 83.5->83.9 up & down to maintain MCP Speed setting. (.76 M)By the way, the FMC is doing a pretty damn good job of holding course (credit to PMDG)!My question is, does FS9/2004 simulate CAT (Clear Air Turbulence)? I know *something* is occuring, because if I set weather to "Clear Skies (Clears all Weather)" - the aircraft stops wavering and the airspeed stabilizes immediately. As I said above, the way it is now, with c…

Greetings from a new PMDG userI have had the 737 800-900 series for exactly one week and I think I have most of the "big stuff" down except for the operation of the VNAV on DESCENT. I have searched the forum for answers to my questions, but I did not find what I needed. So here goes....Assume the following: FMC is setup for a flight KORD-KLGA with the Milton 3 arrival. I have entered Milton 3 and runway 22 for KLGA in the FMC. There are three altitude restrictions for this STAR, namely MARRC at 18k, VIBES at 13k, and BEUTY at 10K/250kts. The transition point is the ETG VOR. I understand that I have to enter 10000 feet (BEUTY alt) into the AFDS prior to top of descent. What…

If I get this light due to me setting the wrong cruise altitude, how do I get it to go out? I've tried manual pressurization in both directions, as well as resetting the altitute. Neither way has extinguished the caution. Is it possible to fix the problem once you get it?Also, does anyone have the color settings for the "blue" MCP digits? I think ATA has that color on their flight decks. Thanks!Brooks

First off I am a new user and I have read the documentation on the FMS and also system operations and I was wondering if the FMC completely controls the aircraft by itself or do you have to interact with the MCP as well for Altitude heading etc. The reason why I ask is because I have created a plan using the FMC, but for the life of me I can't get my plane to follow the route at all. If I press vnav or Lnav the Plane just decides to go its own way. I would have thought the plane would automatically go to my desired cruise height which was in the FMC. I am also using the Default FS2004 Plane Generator and just inputting the waypoints by hand which I find a bit more realist…

Hello all, if I'm not mistaken if the engines are running and power is on the APU if you turn off the APU the power should switch automatically to the IDGs. Is this correct? In the PMDG it deos not happen. :( Just found it out the hard way.. forgot switching to the IDGs and when i shut off the APU after takeoff i had a loss of A/T and some other stuff :DBye, Luca

I have recently purchased a new pc specifically with gaming and FS2004 in mind. I was told that it would cope with any game out there the specs are as followsAsus p4p800 deluxe springdale socket478intel p4 3.2 hyperthreading 800fsbantecplus 1080amg server case 430w true powermaxtor diamond max plus 9sata 120g8mb cache1 g duel channel gold pc4000 ddr ramxp homehercules ati 3d prophet 9800xt classicWell this was true for all the games i tried except for fs2004. I tweaked the system overclocked it u name it but it still had poor performance 5,6,7 fps with heavy clouds and built up scenery or third party basicly its pretty unflyable in those conditions early twenty if im luck…

Yes you will know what everything is if you know the PMDG product. I recognized and could deal with everything except the "damn" harness and seat adjustment. My flying was stomach churning but the landing was safe.It proved to me how accurate the PMDG 737NG actually is and how you could learn a great deal about the real thing. One of my cockpit mates had the same amount of real life stick time as I did (none) but he handled it like a pro. I think the United Pilot would have given him a real a/c without hesitation (well, maybe a little). My SIM time in Denver taught me a few things about the PMDG model and what it could do that I had never known prior. True it was not …

okay, well, i did the 737 course at riddle in the sim and am basically using the same funtions to edit the fms in pmdg 737ng.Anyways, for some reason on my system it isn't taking magnetic deviation into account. The central states..i.e. illinois, indiana and ohio work okay, but out in cali or east my fms is not tracking straight, it tracks anywhere between 10 and 15' off so basically im in a gradual turn the entire route. any suggestions on fixing this issue????MK

When engaging the A/T in TO/GA for takeoff, I find that I have to continue advancing the throttles past 40% to full, else TO/GA mode will not operate properly. To clarify:Advance throttles to 40% via joystick control(or kb)Activate TO/GAContinue to advance throttles to Full/100% via joystick control(or kb) If I don't perform the last action, the throttles are underpowered, and the aircraft will not achieve desired speeds during takeoff and initial climb(I stalled and almost crashed recently because of this problem). Therefore, TO/GA mode appears to be dependent upon throttle setting. Is this the way the A/T functions on the 737NG, or is it something I'm doing wrong? How a…

Hello,I was doing a little flight with the 737-7 and was going to have a FL280...well upon reaching FL24000 the LNAV mode never would work...I could turn it on for about 1 sec. then the light would go out and heading mode would turn on...then the whole a/p itself went out and in the FMC I recieved messages of how each thing..ex. heading control, VNAV, LANV, etc...was going out and inopporable..then the fuel went crazy..going upto over 400,000..I take it I programmed something wrong in the FMC...does anyone know what it could have been?ThanksChad Moore

I imagine this has come up a time or two before. . . couldn't find in the search engine and the manual explains all the buttons on the EFIS Panel right up to, but not including the TERR.This TERR button seems to do nothing. I guess it is inopperable at present. . . or is it? There is a key assignment - Ctrl+Shft+Tab+2. Will we ever have a terrain overlay on Navigation Display, or is it not realistc?Terry

Hey, all airports seem to be okay on the FMC database as far as I know but I'll make a route with KMIA (Miami Int.) and when I add it to the FMC it will say something like "runway 09 error...." and when I try to load up the sid and stars on the DEP/ARR section there are simply no sids or stars when there should be. This happened when I had been using AIRAC 0408 and just installed 0409 and no hope still. Also tried installing the latest sid/star files from the navaid site and no hope there either....(i dont know if these have anything to do with it though). But actually the airport information is in the base because when I go to the main index page and click nav data and t…

I am currently operating the 6/700 version. When for instance I set a certain heading on the heading selector to 239 it looks like the numbers are too bold. Like for instance an 8 will look like a 0. Whats going on and how can I fix the problem?thanks,Brandon Glass

I've seen some similar posts on this problem, but I haven't seen an answer that fixes my issue..I just began using the PMDG, and FMC, so I am very green. I think I have everything set up correctly, however when I try to disengage auto throttle on apr, it doesn't disengage. I like to cut off autopilot on 10 mile final, however I couldn't gain manual control of the throttle. I tried disengaging autopilot, FD, etc., but as I slowed the a/c with flaps and speed brake, the throttles just kept trying to compensate. Even after I got on the ground (a tricky proceedure of cutting the fuel on short final and gliding in), when I restarted the engines, they were at max. No contr…

Hello,I have a couple of questions that I have not been able to find the answers to in the PMDG 737NG documentation.1.Occasionally a green arc appears on the map display and I
