As of yesterday, I'm legally able to fly in Class A airspace (above FL180 in the US), although I doubt I will ever fly anything that will actually get to that altitude :). Got my instrument rating after around 50 hours simulated instrument in a C172 over 6 months and over a year studying the oral and written theory required, and burned just over $10,000 doing so. Even so, it sure feels good! Bruce.

feedback required on the best 737NG sound set available ... generally speaking I think stock sounds are their achilles heel and in almost all cases I've downloaded new sets.Being a new convert from PSS AIrbus to PMDG 737NG - anybody care to provide a suggestion? Derek.

Greetings:What a fantastic product! I'm having a blast flying around the country, yet not having to stay in hotels line a line lizard would normally have to do!Here's my question - how do I enter the virtual cabin? It's not something really important, but I just wanna know. Thanks!QXCRJ

Hi:Oh dear I seem to have a problem - can someone guide me here please.I have just started to use the FMC - which by the way is ansolutely amazing in what it can do - I have a flight plan loaded and seem to have followed the instructions as outlined in the FMC manual as the FMC seems quite happy. The problem is that the auto throttle button will not engage and the A/T warning light blinks.I cannot seem to manage to get the A/T engaged.Perhaps I am missing something basic here - any clues??I did a quick search on the datebase but nothing answered my question.MANY THANKS........Iain

Hello, I just finally figured out how to fly the PMDG, and now I'm wondering. I looked in the aircraft folder for all the PMDG 737's 600/700/800/900, and there was a checklist, "Great," I thought, "Now I'll just load up the PMDG, open the checklist, and I'll be set." It wasn't there, the checklist does not show up. So I checked the aircraft.cfg, it does have the checklist listed as the one to show up, but it doesn't. Hlelp!

Checkout this new addon for the 800/900. It's complete FO/Ground crew/cabin crew program. It looks quite promising. Captains-During the past few days some of you have noticed that would occasionally take the PMDG website and/or the PMDG online store out of service for "routine maintenance."What we have been working on is the installation and configuring of PMDG's new eCommerce site! This eCommerce site is the result of a significant amount of work and research to find a solution that better fits the needs of you, our customers! We have many many new features coming online with this site, and many new and exciting products for PMDG customers and fans! One of the first things you will notice is that it is significantly more robust than our previous system.Navigation is easier and more intui…

Okay... first, I am a newbie to PMDG 737. So, perhaps I am missing something obvious, however, I 'thought' I thoroughly searched the manuals, but for the life of me, I cannot figure this one out.I am flying along enroute to my destination following my FMC, when I get a wild hair and decide to add a waypoint. Sometimes it works... sometimes... it doesnt. :(When I get all scrwed up and get spaghetti in my FMS, I simply want remove EVRERYTHING and re-insert my waypoints/route. But for some reason the FMC 'remembers' my screwed up points even though I try to erase them. I erase DISCOs and way points and approaches and somehow, they pop back in again. Is there a way to reboot t…

I just rebooted my PC after FS9 froze on approach to EGLL 27R in the NG 800 model. All had gone well for 2 hours today, but it suddenly froze and the sim then reacted to inputs about 1 minute later at a rate of 1 frame per 20 to 30 seconds. I consulted the Windows XP Task Manager where I was astounded to note that FS9 was consuming 670MB of my RAM (total of RDRAM 1024). After using FSAutostart, my memory had risen from 720MB to 870MB. FS9 normally uses 270 to 300MB on my PC.Earlier today, after landing at another airport in the 600NG, the sim froze during REPLAY and I had to close down the PC and reboot.I am wondering if my PC has some sort of memory leak. I am only …

Is that possible? (I thought it was same thing anyway.)Reason I ask is that the new FO software that's on it's way is going to be for the 800/900 only. FS2Crew is coming shortly. A message on their board says the only reason that the software won't work with the 600/700 series is an alignment problem with some mouse-overs on the 600/700 panel. Terry

Wow, I am now extremely humbled and feel apologies are deserved. After reading Randy's post on why screenshots are no longer posted until they are absolutely complete, I was suddenly taken back to a year or 2 ago when I was scouting a forum of a rival company regarding any updates and screenshots of their airbus. (I think we all know which company I'm talking about). I suddenly remembered that PSS were barraged by an obscene amount of criticisms on their forum for their panel design, what was missing, the shape of the damn nose of the plane, VCabin or lack thereof, what systems will or will not be modelled, if they were not modelled, "WHY????". It was all that ridiculou…

Dear PMDG,I have been flying the PMDG NGs for quie a while now and I always considered them great products. But of course, not being a pilot I always wondered just how real it was.Well, today, I found out. I spend a few hours in a real 737 motion-simulator and I am still amazed at just how familiar I was with everything. Aside from a few expected differences (location of TO/GA button for example) I managed to start the engine, taxi, and perfrom several take-offs and landings. I flew visual and ILS approaches, used VNAV/LNAV, called up FMC pages and functions - the whole nine yards. While it took me a moment to get used to the control forces and such, my take-offs and land…

I am trying to plan my next flight strictly by the numbers, but am having severe problems understanding the Required Takeoff Field Length table, which appears in the Takeoff Performance section of the PMDG AOM, 1-3. The stated purpose of the table is to enable one to determine the amount of runway required for takeoff, taking wind into account. However, I am finding it very difficult to interpret this table in a way that makes sense! For example, according to the table, if the available runway length is 3,900 feet, you will require 3,900 feet for takeoff in no wind. On the other hand, if the available runway length is 11,800 feet, you will require 11,800 feet for takeoff u…

Driving past the airport I spotted a Luxair NG737 with its tall winglets. These are much taller than the Airbus A320 series wingtip "fences" and I was wondering if anyone on here knew how much fuel they saved as compared to a NG737 without them? They probably weaken the wingtip vortices a lot too huh?:)http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2004/p.../q1/040223g.jpg

Hi! One question: i've downloaded the sid/star database, but sometimes, even with the bigger airports like EHAM, the sid and stars don't appear in the fmc dep page. I have to manually download them from the site and put them in the sid star folder, often overwriting the other one!!?? After this it works fine, but it is very annoying to manually download the sids and stars each time!Anyone suggestions or having the same problem?Regards, Ruben

Hello,Well, this certainly isn't the question about the 747! :-lolRather, when I fly a PMDG 737, and when the VATSIM controller for example changes me to some frequency, enter that frequency into PMDG Radio and that in that moment both SB2.3 and AVC change their frequencies automatically, too??? Basically, that I don't have to switch applications to change the controller while in the flight.

Not to push, but in the meen time, can i see some new screenshots ofthe new 747. The new are already from 7 sept. Maybe of the VC of the panels ? thanx,Andre

Hi again!First of all, I know modifying bitmaps of the PMDG aircraft is not officialy supported here. I try to find an answer anyway :+ I've put the great freeware 'ATN v1.2 pushback gauge' by Etienne Martin into the radio stack. This works fine. To make things look pretty I tried to paint some lines in the area of the data printer (lower right corner of radio stack). The thing is that my modifications do not appear in the panel itself. When I open the 737NG_RADIO_BACKGROUND.bmp in Photoshop, I do see my changes. I've replaced all occurences of the original file with my modified one. Still I see no change in the panel? :-hmmm Anybody got an idea why? Is it loading from …
