Has anyone used the pushback tool in the 747 with success?I have tried to use it, and I am (I think), I am pressing the button with the right mouse button, However nothing happens. Is there something that i needed to do previously, that I might have missed, to make it work? Thanks

On a flight from Windhoek (Namibia) to Cape Town (South Africa) on the jump seat of a 747-400, I noticed that on decent from 12,000ft to 16,500ft they did a strange 'step decent' manouvre. All was automated by the fmc. On decent, the airbrakes would deploy for about 20 seconds and then the plane would decend and loose speed rapidly. (The drag was well felt) They would then release for a further 10 seconds and then deploy all over again for 20 secs again. This happened again and again in the same order continually for about 8 mins until the target altitude and airspeed was reached.Anyone care to shed some light on strnage this procedure for me, as it was not something I ha…

Hi Everyone, just a quick simple question. According to the manual, the TO/GA Switch is on the upper left part of the throttles, next to the spoiler lever.I have tried a number of times to "activate/use" this but nothing happens. Do I have to set this up in the settings or somewhere else?ThanksWayne

Hi guys,I have downloaded the 737-700. It seems great and a huge upgrade over the default fs9 737.Can I use the map and gps functions you get in all fs9 planes. If so, how do I access them as the buttons you would normally press don't seem to be there on the cockpit.Bit fifficult for m to navigate without them.ThanksCalum

Hello fellow airmenI'm a bit confused about how the "Go around" works when flying the airplane manually. When everything is set for a landing and everything is configured for a "Go around", and I have the control over the airplane "earning my buck's", what do I do if a "Go Around" is called out?My autopilot is only disconnectet (the big horisontal bar is in the UP position). Can I just press the magic "Go around" button, or do I have to connect the autopilot first?

Hi Recently on reloading a flight, after restarting fs9, the FMC has started to loose the flightplan saved at the time of saving the flight. The error message'' no active flight plan'' appears in the FMC.Due to this vnav and lnav become inactive and until I reactivate the flightplan in the FMC,vnav, and lnav the plane either has gone into a climb or decent. To reset the vnav I have to click on vs and than speed buttons first and than press vnav-this is the only way to activating vnav, why!!Can somebody please suggest why does the flightplan become inactive on saving and exiting the fs 9.And how can I prevent this.Looking forward to your help----please.:D Tass

Hi guys,I have found that the font on the F version MCP panel to be difficult to read. The font colour is blue (which may be what it is on the freighter) but the digits are very hard to read. For example all the 0's are filled in. The pax version still remains much clearer. Is this the norm?CheersSteve

Hey there. During my flight today I faced two problems. The first one was the T/O-Roll again. I practiced the T/O alot during the Type-Rating course and sometimes got a master warning sound. But only sometimes. I was wondering if I am rolling too fast or too slow, but when I forced the 744 to roll very fast it didn't happen. The other day I forced it to roll very slow and it didn't happen. So what is this alarm for? Am I touching the conrete with the rear of the aircraft? The second thing I came over was the Opt Crz Lvl in the FMC. Fuel Planning and FMC told me FL330 would be the optimum initial crz lvl but the aircraft hardly reached that altitude. As I was up there I sud…

I believe that when one is executing a go around pressing TO/GA once sets a reasonable thrust level and causes the flight director to give appropriate pitch and roll guidance. Then, if one presses TO/GA a second time, thrust is increased to the limits.I could swear I read in the forum that this was implemented in the 737 with the 800/900 upgrade, but have had no luck searching on it.Does anybody know if pressing TO/GA twice on the 737-800 will set full thrust?-Tim

I can't fly at night because I'm unable to turn on the dome light in any of the PMDG models and modes to illuminate the panel. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to what I can try to turn the dome light on? I have no interest in the virtual cockpit display. Only the 2D. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Thank you, Ray

Hi:Anyone out there who uses the PMDG 736-7's and the GoFlight MCP willing to share their saved GoFlight configuration file with me? I just can't get a handle on programming the MCP with key mapping, and I've poured over the Key2Mouse, GoFlight Keys, and FSUIPC manuals for so long...nothing seems to work. I'd also accept a tutorial, perhaps a phone call? walk through in front of our computers. Any help is welcome and much appreciated!Thanks,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

I like to place the panel switcher right at the top of the instrument panel. See the attached screenshot. If you would like to do this also, open the PMDG747 aircraft folder, then open the panel folder, then open the panel.cfg file. Go to Window16 and make the following modification.(Window16) <--- actually appears with square brackets in filefile=PS.bmp file_1024=PS.bmpsize_mm=358,42position=1window_pos=0.370,0.355 <--- ADD THIS LINEvisible=1ident=30gauge00=PMDG_747400_Main!PanelSwitcher, 0,0,358,42,YESThe panel switcher will appear in the new location at startup and when you open/close it (unless you drag it to a new location). The windshield bar still serves …

Hi.. First of all I'd like to say I am a BIG fan of this aircraft.. and I am pretty sure that what is happening here is ME.. and not the simulation.. But I thought I would post a question because despite reading the manual I am having no joy..I am a member of VATSIM and I'm trying to get to grips with the basics of ATC for myself etc.. I'm already a very experienced PMDG 747-400 simmer.. So I'd say I do know what I'm doing with it.. So it may be a long post but I will step you through what I do.The environment is a takeoff and IFR loop around EGSS, as a practice.. I'm using Runway 23.. and the standard missed approach proceedure, which in this case is the BKY4R SID... 1 …

Hi folks, I've recently installed the 400f series and I get into it and after about 30 seconds the CRTs go blank. I then select another aircraft type ie the cessna and find its alternator is turned off. I select it on and get back into the 747 and once again after 30 seconds or so the crts go blank.any ideas?

Dear friends,I have 2 questions to put infront of you for help.1st questionAfter takeoff with the auto pilot engaged at 500 feet, I always experience a sudden loss in the thrust, air speed and altitude...WHY ?I remember having read this topic ( if I am not mistaken ) in the manual but since then could not find it again.2nd QuestionThis has to do with the descend in V NAV Mode. While flying from Bangok to Calcutta in India using PMDG route BKKCCU 001, The last way point (AVPOP ) before reaching CEA VOR ( Calcutta ) had the speed and altitude restrictions of 260/10590.One way point further up AVPOP name ESDOT was calculated by FMC at time of takeoff from Bangkok to have 320/F…

I was reading on the A380 and found this little snippet on their homepage: "The Brake-to-Vacate system, designed by a multinational Airbus team, will help ease airport congestion and reduce the amount of time an aircraft remains on the runway. Enabling pilots to select a runway exit while the aircraft is making its landing approach, Brake-to-Vacate uses the auto-flight, flight controls, and auto-brake systems to regulate deceleration after touchdown. This allows the aircraft to reach a specified exit at the correct speed under optimum conditions. The system will be offered as an option on all A380s by 2007, and will be followed by retrofits available on all of other Airbu…

After I purchased and installed the 747-400 Queen of the Skies, I kept having on-going OOM (Out of Memory) crashes, and my computer seemed to be struggling when trying to fly this aircraft. Following the crash, I lost my desktop image and the desktop reverted to a light blue; everything was restored when I did a re-boot. I followed the message strings on the forum and eventually resolved my problems, and I am putting forward my solutions to add to the knowledge base.My current system is shown below, but at that time I only had 1GB of DDR RAM. I followed the performance graph in Task Manager, whilst flying, and the PageFile usage was just below IGB and gradually increase…

I have searched and searched on this subject but did not come up withany questions on this topic. I seems that at some airports the localizer does not line up with the runway. One in particular is ILS 22R at JFK. I tried two autolands there and the runway is at least 100 feet to the right of the Aircfaft which is perfectly ligned up on the localizer. I know a lot of you are going to tell me to disengage the autopilot and land manually but I find that the 747 just doesnt respond quickly enough at that altitude to get ligned up properly. By the time you are ligned up the Aircraft is too far down the runway to make a safe landing, so a GO AROUND must be initiated.

Greetings.Had a few years break from FS9, and recently reinstalled it along with the 737NG, and have just bought the 800/900 as well.Have updated the FMC navdata with the most current, but then of course it doesn't match some of the navdata in FS9's scenery. Is there some FS9 navdata file we can download and install so that the FS9 info matches the FMC? I remember there was such a file for FS2002, but can't seem to find it for FS9.Here is an example: The FMC says that the ILS freq for RWY 04R in LIPZ is 109.95 (I think), while actually it is 110.30 in FS9. I'm using Lago's Turin scenery for this, btw. Thanks for any tips.Regards,Bj
