Hi, could somebody explain what is Dutch Roll? I have read a lot of materials but none of them can give me a clear explaination.thanksbenPS 2nd Question:what is the max bank angle with 1 engine failure for a 744. I tried to shut-off engine number 4 and then made a right turn with 30 degree of bank, and I ended up losing control of the aircraft. (The aircraft kept banking over 30 degree to the right even I had my yoke fully turned to the left and the aircraft pitched down with rapidly increasing airspeed, and it looked like a sprial dive)thanks

Is there a database of preferred SIDS/STARS for each runway in the US? I have the preferred routing on my SIM PLATES database, but is there a preferred SIDS/STAR data base available somewhere? Example: If I am flying from NY KLGA to Boston KBOS & I knew ahead of time my arrival runway at Boston KBOS was going to be 27, is there a data base I could look up the preferred STAR when coming in from the west? This way I could plug it into my FMC ahead of time. Anyone know a place I could look all this up ahead of time (especially since there is no detailed ACARS modeled on the PMDG 737)?Thanks.Chris Catalano

I'm just alittle embarrased to ask but where is the TOGA? I usually manually advance N1 to the derated thrust of my choice but I know it can be automated and that would be easier. Just couldnt find it(hah been flying the plane for years)..........thanksAl

How the heck do you save the panel state? For example if I want to walk into a powered cockpit, not with engines just external power and not cold and dark. I only see the cold and dark and ready for takeoff panels. Thanks al

Having installed the 747 & 747F several times over the past year or two, I have yet to ever find a way to assign a joystick button to the strobes toggle switch using FS9 or FSUIPC mapping. It works in the 737 and all other vendors but not the 747(F). I can't beleive this was missed in beta testing, twice no less. It just seems odd that the one switch, which must be toggled twice on every flight, didn't get a proper variable assignment using the same code that every other plane in FS9 uses. Could a possible fix be for PMDG to release an updated PMDG 747 key- assignemnts list with "Stobe lights" in the key list? At least that way we could assign a key-stroke to the…

I know that i am suppose to wait for a while. But I have been waiting for a long time. I can hear the APU running. I just dont have anything on my monitorsIs there anything I did wrong? I did not change any setting expect De-selecting Ground/Air Power Available as required by the tutorialany help will be appreciated. I am so anxiou…

If i am using the 737-800 or 900 and want to use the ap without using the fms , is it possible to actually simply program the fms and fly without it until cleared of a required "sid". I find it easier to fly without the fms under a vectored departure until cleared enroute. Is it actually the v-nav a l-nav that actually tie together the fms to the flight director.`aslo i find that i have run into a condition where i have programmed the fms and try to engage the aitothrottle but it keeps turning off. I cant find any reference to that situationLastly when you update the nav cycle, what folder should the new nav data be placed in.

On a single channel approach, I arm the speed brake, and it deploys as normal on touchdown. On a dual channel coupled autoland approach, I again arm the speedbrake, the SPEED BRAKE ARMED confirmation light comes on, but on touchdown the speedbrake does not deploy.I am wondering if this is because the speed brake will only deploy from the armed detent with the throttles at idle, which is perhaps not the case during an autoland as the autothrottle is controlling the throttles. The A/T disconnects on the ground automatically but then perhaps the throttle jumps when it does this, preventing the speed brakes from deploying, even though my joystick throttle is at idle? Just a t…

During a fully coupled approach (both CMD engaged to ILS freq) and FD and A/T engaged, auto flare generally occurs at 30-50', touchdown is normal, throttles to idle, reversers deployed--deselect CMD, I will get at times my nosewheel deflecting 30-45 degrees to the left...and I can't figure out how to center it...other than applying counter controls...I cycle F/D off/on but it seems if I don't deselect CMD at main wheels touchdown I get the deflection. What am I missing?THanks in advanceKemoF15

This seems to be happening to me more and more frequently. I will program a route into the FMC fly along happily using LNAV for quite some time and usually nearing the end of the flight I will lose the route in the FMC and it will give me the message saying "No active Route".

My latest procedures file available at either NAVData or AVSIM-Flight Plans libraries. Compliled from FAA NACO digital terminal procedures, and tested for flyability (no disco errors, I hope).

HiIs it possible to use the mouse wheel to turn knobs in the 747 VC as it is with the 737NG?Looking at the manual the answer seems to be "no" as it only talks about left/right click to turn knobs. And the fact is the mouse wheel does not work on my system.I found using left/right clicks for rotating knobs such as the altitude, heading, speed knobs on the MCP not very convenient. Using the mouse wheel in this case would be more intuitive and practical.Christophe.

Well, I just installed my PMDG 747's and so far, not impressed.Maybe it just works a lot differently than my POSKY models that I used for so long.First off, I want to control the altitude and climb rate via FSNavigator. I don't want to to use the FMC that came with it.I can't seem to manually change altitude or IAS. Haven't yet found the TO/GA button that they speak of.Most annoying is the panel display disappears after about 5 minutes and I've got blank dials. The instructions are not terribly user friendly, if you want to call them instructions.Have you had good luck with this? For $60 I would expect a little more fun out of it.Honus.

when using the fms in pmdg, why is it that waypoints are not found in the database.it always say , not in database.for instance i input and initalize the airport on the inital position page, ie. airport . I put in any name and it says that it does not exist.i tried many from kmia. to cyyz to zyyv to kdfw ... it wont even find kjfk or kord, ive tried vors and intersections with the same resultnow we all that they exist so what could the problem be?I also updated to the most recent nav cycle and still no gopeter

After departure, I am directed by ATC to a vector in the direction of my plan and first waypoint. I am then issued clearance Direct To that waypoint. This waypoint appears first on the list of waypoints on the Legs page. Engaging LNAV at this point causes a roll towards the flightplan, rather than heading directly for the first waypoint. How do I program the FMC in the the 737 to proceed direct to the first waypoint without first seeking the flightplan between the airport and the waypoint?ThanksChip B.@-@

G'DayWhats the latest regarding the Sound Crackling issue with the B747? Last I heard there was a patch in the works but that was quite some time ago now.Unfortuantly I have not been able to fly this aircraft due to the sound problem. Rather frustrating!

I am trying to unravel the arcane secrets of the B747's FMC and have got to the stage of setting up a flightplan. My problem is that I want to know how to make available to the FMC, NAVAID Databases such as those from http://www.navdata.at by Richard Stefan.I have downloaded some of these and they installed themselves in a folder called FMCWP under FS2004. Can the B747-400's FMC find them there or do I have to move them elsewhere? At present the FMC cannot access various airways thata I have tried to enter; I get the error message "Not in Database".Help anyone!Cheers,Mark

Gents, (and ladies)What would be a challenging approach and takeoff with the PMDG 747? What is regarded as a difficult route by real life pilots?Best regardsKjetil OlsnesNorway
