Hi guys,I am currently using an iMac with an Nvidia 8800M GTS graphics card with 512MB memory. I find that it runs FSX well with a Core 2 Duo CPU at 3GHz. I am going to get a replacement machine this weekend, and the replacement machine will have an i7 processor at 3GHz, and a Radeon HD 5750 Graphics Card with 1GB of memory. I realize that the Radeon HD 5750 is a low end card by today's standards, but how will it compare to my three year old 8800M card? I also assume that the i7 will give me a performance increase over the Core 2 Duo, correct? Thanks so much,Robert Deichert

Hi guys,I see you people all spectating and asking what's going to be added in the NGX they are developing at the moment. I am curious too, but is it really necessary to do that? As Robert and Ryan are saying, it will be the most realistic plane they've ever made, and even not very important things are added, so it's very likely that the brakes are realistic, and they have strobelights, so could we please stop with making all these unnecessary threads? Maybe you find me, and maybe i am, a whiner, but it has no effect, since Robert and Ryan aren't answeringthanks

I thought PMDG had promised, about 3 years ago, that they would be developing quality Airbus products...As myself, thousands out there are eagerly waiting for a top Airbus product. Many have tried since PSS, but have failed over and over again. So, my question is what is the reason that PMDG change their mind?...Does not have the resources...does not have the talent...have contacted Airbus for info and Airbus said: "Shuuu..this is serious stuff not a game"...Or, PMDG is afraid to fail like many others since the Airbus is so advance and complex?Hey, just some reasonable questions...Everyone wonders why? Or, is the team committed to an all only "American Product" Hummm :…

I saw the A380 flying over my house at 2500' and commented to my wife that it was an ugly plane - she replied they all the same. Is it just me or some jet passenger planes look better than others? If there was a beauty contest, what plane would take the crown? What plane wouldn't be asked to the prom? For me the Concord was #1, the 747-400 is #2 and A319, A380, 737 would be home on prom night. What do you say?Paul Gugliotta

I am aware that this is not a PMDG question, but with all the great resposes and knowledgeable people here at the forum, I just had to ask.I am going to be for Christmas getting the King School Private Pilot "Get it all" KitSo to the question when I do Finally after all the hours and work put into getting my Private Pilots License, Will I be able to use that as a Sports Pilots License aslo, but without the Limitations that the Sports Pilots have? I have a friend that is going right now to get his Sports Pilots License and so I just wanted to see if I could also fly the plane with him. Thanks for any replies

Hi,Not being on the NGX beta team, I have to ask the team one thing that came into mind after reading the NGX Brakes thread. Needless to say, the details modelled involving braking and brakes in the NGX create a feeling of respect :). They know what they are doing. So, what I am asking about is the cold soaking phenomenon that can cause airframe icing. Through various mechanisms. One of the most common ones being the one where you land a jet to a warm and humid place with some very cold fuel in the wings. Clear ice is formed on the top of the wing when the water tied to the humid air comes in contact with the cold airframe. Warm fuel is then needed to get rid of this probl…

Gents,Over the past two weeks i have been building a new engine for my car. i have stripped it restored it and now it is like new. many hours have been spent building it and getting it right but im incredibly happy with the end result.Robert im sure you can relate to this with the NGX, I have literally done so many little bits and pieces of perfection to the engine when sharing my work with those who ask where ive been for two weeks i cannot even find the time to go through all the little bits and pieces of perfection i have put into this engine. Sometimes i get a raised brow from people as to why on earth i would waste my time going to those lengths, it is not a show car…

Hello. Those of you who know me, know that I am not new to PMDG, nor to flying, nor to Avsim. That having been said, I do not own the md11. Here is my dilemma. I was planning on getting the md11X since it came out. I ended up buying the j41 first though, because i really needed a regional turbo-prop, and viola, PMDG delivered. I have had it since the week that it came out, and love it! The problem is that I only fly vc. I love the j41 vc. Until the NGX is released, it will be the best vc available. Since the md11 was developed before PMDG implemented the technology that they used in the j41 vc, I am wondering how far of a step back is the vc in the md11 in terms of qualit…

PMDG Staff, This is my first post as I do not normally feel the need to open my big mouth being new to the flight sim community. Since discovering FSX, I have been hooked like a crack cocaine addict. I have purchased many add-ons to the dismay of my wife. So like everyone else suffering from my addiction, I have purchased many add-on aircraft that have drained my bank account and subsequently disappointed me beyond belief. How company’s can release what they do and still sleep at night is beyond my comprehension. With that said, I wanted to say THANK YOU for your hard work and pride that you take in your aircraft. The level of detail in your aircraft is second to no…

Gents -Pardon me if this discussion is inappropriate for this forum, but like many others I appreciate the wisdom of fellow forum members (not to mention the traffic)! On Wednesday, I've begun to experience big problems with my FSX install. Prior to Wednesday, FSX was running like a dream with the occasional texture corruption. The symptoms are as follows:1. Splash screen takes upward of 6-8 minutes to load2. During the FSX Launch, I will get an error with a 3rd party addon module (I've seen both CS and PMDG errors3. If I try to select the PMDG 747-8 from either the GUI or in the sim, FSX locks up and the AC is never loaded (This doesn't seem to happen with add-ons that do…

Hi,Sorry for posting this in the PMDG forum.. but i just feel that the PMDG forums are a family, and i feel more comfortable to post this here.I started setting up a new system on my desk.. ill try and describe it as simply as possible..I have a 2 USB cables running to 2 4 way HUBS... from each port on the hub i have a usb cable running to a switch, a simple on off switch connected to another USB cable running to various lights such as ones to shine on keyboard and one to my clipboard mount for charts and all the rest of it.. the swtiches work fine.. however the switch is positioned inbetween the hub and the light (cable wise) however when i switch one button off it turns…

Hi everyone.I have never posted on this forum before so allow me introduce myself. My name is Scott Pumphrey. I am a young aviator and love to fly. I am currently an instrument rated private pilot, but hope to have my commercial before the end of the year. Anyway, I have been thinking of what to do with my life when I graduate from college. I am a professional aviation major at my university, so I obviously want to pursue a career in aviation. My ultimate goal is to be an airline pilot, but with the number of required hours before even being able to apply, I must choose another career to build hours before then. I have considered all of my options and I have pretty much n…

After flying the tutorial flight included with the MD-11 several times, I felt that I was comfortable enough with the FMC to try and create my own flight plan. It's certainly more complicated than I thought. So after some digging around the web, I found a few tutorials about SIDs and STARs, but found this one to be the most thorough.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ7c-02va_gEven with that, I still lost. For instance, I wanted to fly from JFK to ORD. So I followed the video, with the exception of the flight planning website, to a tee. So first, I created and imported the flight plan to the FMC of my MD-11 (link). Then, I used the first part of the flight plan as my SID (COA…

Hello all,After hours and hours of testing, like 20 settings, and numerous phone calls and emails to nvidia and microsoft, here it is:The problem: (from the other post)"Issue #4: The “skeleton plane” issue - loss of textures and geometry on the external model and VC. This is the issue that’s going to have the most discussion…I want to put forth a new theory we’ve developed on this over the past week or so:I was talking to one of our new programmers about this issue and we stumbled upon something quite interesting. I was mentioning to him how some users seem to have success in resolving the issue via lowering the Windows sound quality setting. This sparked the realiz…

Hi guys. I use FS9 and PMDG´s 737NG and 747 jets. I am usually flying online with either vatsim or ivao (using their clients squawkbox 4 and ivap). I was wondering whether it´s feasible to hear the voice via my headset instead of the computer speakers? I have a pretty basic headset with microphone connected to my sound card via the 3.5mm jacks. However whenever I conect the headset jack to my computer all sound is routed to the headset (all FS9 sounds + Vatsim controllers´ transmissions). Thus I only cpnnect the mic jack and all sound, including the controllers´ voices come off my PC speakers. I was wondering if there is a way for me to hear only ATC through the headset a…

Hi guys,As we are all waiting for the NGX, I have decided to invest some money into new laptop. I'm not an expert in this environment, so I'd like to hear from you guys. Currently I'm using Gateway NV52. I found this laptop online, and its specs are way better when compared to my current system.Dell XPS 15Intel Core i5-460M (2.53GHz, 4 threads, turbo boost up to 2.8GHz, 3M cache) NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M 1GB graphics with Optimus 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 Memory500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard DriveWhat do you think guys? What FSX performance could I expect from this system? How many FPS?Thanks for any help,

Hi. It has been a while since I'm looking to buy some of PMDG's airplanes, but I'd like an advice of you who are used to buy such things from the internet:I've found many and many sites of stores that sell add-ons for Flight Simulator, but what site would you recomend, I mean, what sites have you already bought from that I can trust?PS.: I know that I can find their aircrafts in PMDG's site, but they only sell the dowload version and I want the boxed version. Thanks in advance.

What about the other aircraft PMDG is developing (Dash 8Q-200 and 777) with regard to the 737 NGX "delay"?Are they absolutely depending on the release of the 737 NGX or are they progressing to some degree? Thanks,Christos

Peter Dowson does not appear to promote the use of FSUIPC4 over FSX.Options.Controls unless you require different settings for a joystick for each of a number of aircraft. As I only fly the PMDG 744X, and under W7, I should be able to set up my Saitek X45 throttle with an effective thrust idle. But I cannot see how to do this.At present, setting the thrust lever to minimum on landing does not give an idle, and I therefore am unable to engage reverse thrust. So I resort to manual braking whilst frantically pressing the engines idle key (F1 or F2).Has anyone any advice on how they have managed to set an effective engine idle thrust, using the FSX Controls parameters, please…
