A viewer requested I land a 747 in Dutch Harbor, in Unalaska, Alaska. I took up the challenge. It was exteremely hard to do, but I got it first try! That thing stops in 3,800', somethign that MD-11 can never do! Enjoy Guys! Please comment and of course, please hit that subscribe button on my channel! Well it's all quiet on the western front. We haven't had any updates or seen any new livery screenshots in a while. It doesn't seem like the devs are commenting much on the forums either. This is what it always felt like in Iraq before someone attacked us. Reeeeaaaalllll quiet. I feel some big announcement coming. All the screenshots and movies we've seen lately have looked extremely polished. They might even be in wide beta. It got really quiet right before Robert made the "exiting the cone of silence" announcment that it was in beta. Heck it doesn't even feel like many of us are talking on here in the last few days. The calm before the storm. I think we'll he…

I'm super excited about this release, but I haven't been following near as much as other releases due to real world flying.I'm curious, is it going to contain all the models (the 600/700/700ER/800/800ER/900/900ER/BBJ1,2,3)? Aside from that, the features I have seen detailed look incredible.I haven't really seen anywhere that lists this, but I have seen multiple (not all) models via screenshots! I jumpseat a lot in 737NG's, so this release has got me excited, knowing that I'll have a good 1-5 hour plane to do my US X/C's in to compliment my long haul equipment!P.S @ PMDG Devs: Will this run with similar J4100 tech? I sure hope not, as I never got to fly that plane at all d…

Hi guys, after my upper neighbors succeeded to fry my old computer by pouring water in the power sockets...I got myself an i7 2600K along with 8 GB of 1333MHz Corsair XMS3 on Asus's P8P67 motherboard.I install everything, configure everything like nick said... and I only get 10 more frames per second? What? (compared to an E8400 / 4GB / GTX 280Is this because of my temporary 9800 GX2 bottle necking the 2600K? A EVGA GTX 580 3GB is on the way soon, will that fix this annoyance?Help!

The last update? Its looks like a normal thread, but its locked and unpinned? Did I miss the usual meltdown in the thread? Too bad, if so, I thought there was some decent discussion in there.

Hello,I will be flying on a Virgin Blue 737 soon, and I would like to know if anyone else has flown on a Virgin NG, and was able to fly in the cockpit. I have seen some videos where someone was able to fly in a Virgin 737NG cockpit for a flight. Here is one of them. Thank-you for any ideas.

Robert R made a comment in the discussion on scenery in the liveries forum that orbx is better than megascenery. He's probably right in general, but I'm not convinced he's right when we're all planning to be flying a 737 at FL320 in the near future. So it's got me thinking about where I am going to be flying...In preparation for the 737NGs release I've been collecting photoscenery. Modern computers have hit the point where you can use photoscenery well with fast planes, I believe. Which is good, cos it's a bit lame if you're just flying a cessna low down.FWIW, I have all of the the Orbx Australia stuff, and most of the US as well. Orbx has some very small (by jet sta…

Hey All,This is something I wonder a little bit as I taxi around SFO and other hub airports. I know how to tell a 737-300/400/500 from a 737-700/800/900/900ER.But, to those with a more detail oriented eye than I, how do you tell a normal 800 or 800ER, from a 900? A 900ER really stands out with the extra emergency exit (half door).Thanks.

I just got the latest Sporty's Pilot Shop catalog and while flipping through the pages came across a nifty Terminal Procedures iPad app called Sporty's Plates. It's free to try from the app store for 30 days and it's $49.95 per year for a subscription. I don't know if you can continue using the initial plates you download after 30 days if you choose not to subscribe but that would be nice. Anyway, you get all the airport diagrams, approach, and departure plates for the US (and looks like US only) in a nicely organized iPad app. Of course, you can go to Airnav and download them for free, or buy something like SimPlates X, but this puts it all nicely at your fingertips …

I am sorry if this is in the wrong section. I am just looking for the windshield wiper textures for the 737-600 in the Virtual Cockpit. They are not black but a hazy unpainted texture offwhite sort of.

Robert, Ryan, etc - just wondering if you guys may want to set up a sub-forum for the NGX? Seems to me a little housekeeping is in order in the "General Forum" which would make life easier searching for NGX-specific information/topics.

I read an interesting Q&A with the dev team of MS Flight tonight. The Q&A is in the latest issue of PC Pilot if you care to check it out. It wasn't very long but they covered some of the main things that people around here have been asking. The first main point was that it is an all new platform. They said there is a little FSX code here and there where it was useful to keep. They reiterated that FSX was built up on layers and layers of old code from previous releases and that the platform was no longer viable for the current hardware that most of us use. They also said that it is being developed to perform well on existing machines. They acknowledged that …

Hi PMDG Team,Just wondering what FMC software is coded in 737NGX. I hope its FMC U10.8 so we can arm VNAV on Takeoff!!!REF: Boeing FCTM 3.33/3.34"With FMCU10.8 and later, VNAV is normally armed for takoff and engages at 400ft AGL. The use of VNAV for takeoff, flap retraction and climb out is the preferred method of managing the AFDS for takeoff. This provides the VNAV profile and acceleration schedule compatible with the planned departure. On airplanes with FMC U10.7 and earlier, at thrust reduction altitude, select or verify that climb thrust is set. At acceleration height, set flaps up maneuver speed and retract flaps on Flap retraction Schedule."Cheers Chris

At the end of Night Lighting Video the LIGHTS switch is set to TEST. According to the FCOM (1.30.4) it should illuminate some of the ights on the Captain and F/O instrument panels. I believe that it should NOT light the BELOW G/S annunciators because they are part of the GPWS system and it has its own TEST button.Ryan, can you verify?Best regards,--pim
