Something I always catch myself doing is looking at what other add-ons pilots use to enhance their immersion and realism when they're simming. But usually it's in each add-on's forum, so I thought it might be beneficial for people here to see comprehensive and complete lists from various pilots on what they use to make the most out of getting "as real as it gets." (according to Microsoft)I'm an immersion junkie, so I only go for what's real and I only do things in a sim that have a consequence. If it's just there for eye candy (i.e. windshield wipers) I don't bother using it, otherwise I might as well make sounds with my lips pressed together when I turn on the wipers if i…

Copied from PMDG's FB profile: "Can you feel that summer chill? That's because the PMDG 737NGX is in a code freeze! A Release Candidate of the PMDG 737NGX was sent out to PMDG's beta testers just three hours ago! A little more testing to make sure there are no show stoppers, and if all goes well, we're right on target." Sounds good to me :)

I just had to share my thoughts with you all after another successful landing in the NGX. I am totally, totally (did I say totally!) entranced by this aircraft. In my personal opinion (and no I am not being paid, cajoled, blackmailed, held at gunpoint or otherwise coerced or bribed), this is really the finest airliner ever to take to the skies in FSX (or any desktop sim). Why, because so often when we buy an FSX aircraft some parts are better than others. We might find a great external model but poor systems, or great systems and shoddy VC graphics. The list of permutations goes on. For me, the NGX is really the first aircraft where the bar has been raised in all categori…

Hi,for the past week, I have been unable to sign into PMDG. I updated my account with a new e-mail address about a year ago, and it was working fine. Last week I signed on and was going to purchase the 747-400 for FSX. When I went to check out, It displayed this: 500-internal error server. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for,and it can not be displayed. I can not sign on at all now, this error keeps poping up. does anyone have any ideas what this could be? Thanks for any info.Douglas Morlan

Captains, We've just uploaded a brief video demonstrating just a few of the dozens of cockpit modifications possible in the PMDG 737NGX. All of these are controlled from the FMC, and can be done any time before, during, or after a flight. Gone are the days of needing to reload any one of multiple VC variations before you hit Fly Now. Gone are the days of VC configuration managers that need to be run prior to launching FSX.With the PMDG 737NGX, you can customize on the fly, while you fly!We strongly suggest you watch this in 1080p, full screen! Enjoy! And yes, you still have Robert's in-flight video to look forward to!

Hello all,The recent discussion of trackIR made me wonder, whether this technology is compatible with 3d monitors (using the Nvidia 3d standard)? By saying compatbile I mean does turning your head forth and back hurt the 3d experience? And a related question - does 3d work for all fsx addons, so it should flawlessly work for the NGX? Has any NGX beta tester used a 3d monitor and can attest this?As you can guess I'm considering getting a 3d monitor, but it is hard for me to guess now whether this really becomes a standard technology, or it is still a gadget rather.cheers,Jakub

Hey everyone, After starting up FSX for the first time in a couple of months, I came across with the attached error message. The symptoms I found out while testing the MD11 were that sounds like the parking brake being set, cautions and warnings, flap handle movement, were not being played. Is this a known issue? Regards,Luís Raimundo

  12. The crash of the Caribbean bird made me wondering if PMDG also modelled the alternate extend system for the flaps and for the landinggear. If that's so, with the failure model, are flap-failures and gear failures modelled?I'm not talking about the visualisation of a belly landing or so, just if it can happen one day, selecting gear down and not getting "three green" Or maybe a slat failure like with this HV 737-800 during a precautionary landing at LPFR: http://jetphotos.net....php?id=5947863 From inside the cockpit, the pilot saw this:

I have a situation that repeats itself every flight. When I input a flightplan into the FMC (using current AIRAC from Navigraph) and takeoff the aircraft follows a "curved" flightpath to get from waypoint to waypoint in my flightplan legs. I've searched the forums and found several references to a flight path deviation, but none of them mentioned this "curved" flightpath between waypoints. The aircraft gradually drifts left of the flightpath (sometimes up to 7 miles left of planned path). The farther the distance between the waypoints the more distance in the left drift. Last night on VATSIM ATC directed me to turn right to 230 so I disengaged the LNAV and selected H…

  14. Having been busy with work for the past month I haven't had the chance to check into the forums even once to check on progress, just my luck with being taken off the 330 and put on inter-European flights in the height of the summer season, along with a medical renewal and simcheck... Phew. So after returning, expecting more of the same silence, perhaps a nice update but nothing much else, just the same old like it's been so far this year, I've been stunned to see the sheer volume of previews that are now available, in particular from the AOA crew and their new videos highlighting the PMDG 737NGX in all its glory. AND a release date set for only a few days time AND p…

I just recently purchased TrackIR 5 and the Trackclip Pro. Anyways, when I use Trackclip pro and I look down and to the left, the "virtual head" also moves lower. When I look down and to the right, it rises for some reason. I've tried everything but can't fix it. It works perfectly with the normal trackclip. Any suggestions?

  17. Does anyone have this card for multi monitor set up?............. Gigabyte Eyefinity HD6970, I believe you can use it as a normal one monitor set-up or expand across three or four monitors with this card much like having the Matrox TripleGo Digital installed. Question is "how does it stand up to GTX570 or 580. Would the Nvidia 570 -580 prove to be superior and better option, just install a Matrox TriplGo to expand across three monitors. Not sure what other cards have the Eyefinity capability? Sorry PMDG this should have been in the hardware forum, my apologies.

Would be awesome if this could be simulated completely. Ever notice when taking off the wings start to bounce up and down almost like a flimsy effect. Also when going through turbulence they bounce all over the place. I've seen good wing flex modeling but still haven't seen and wings that "bounce" is it even possible to model this in FSX? It would probably take miles of code to have it looking smooth and realistic. FSX animations tend to be very jerky and unrealistic.

  23. Hello; On landing, what is the correct throttle procedure assuming that the AT is set to on.As the aircraft touches the ground the AT is automatically disengaged, then you engage the reverse throttle. At what point or at what time do you close the spoilers? Thanks, Iain

HiAfter V2 and liftoff, the AT automatically reads 20 KIAS above V2. Climbing through to 10,000 (assuming USA) what should you set the speed to?I have been after reaching 1500 feet, changing the MCP speed to read around 195 KIAS and maintaining this speed with pitch until 10.000 feet. After 10.000 feet I alter the speed to 275 until cruise altitude,Is this correct?I haven't been having hassles with these speeds, but am wondering if this is more or less standard (assuming no wind, turbulence, etc)Thanks, Iain
