July 17, 201114 yr Haha, I just watched that video completely, and it is pretty sweet. Here is the schedule of events while you wait for me to upload the video:Landing Gear extend at 00:16Spoilers Retrac at 00:55TE Flaps Extend at 1:05Touchdown at 03:57Throttle (To prove that this wasn't an idle thrust taxi, you can hear the throttles roar as they are nudged up as we finish turning a corner.) at 5:58Spoilers Retrac at 7:10 (After engine shutdown.)Hehe, I told the guy next to me that I'm an aviation nut. He likes aviation too, but didn't know much about it. Nice guy though. Toward the end of the video, you can hear him say something like "There ya go. Look at that one landing behind you. Check out the cloud of ice/snow behind him.Speaking of ice/snow, the runway was pretty icy, as you will see in due time. I didn't know that they allowed ice on the runway. Course I guess that there is no way to really keep it off unless you are constantly plowing. This trip was neat for me because it took me to Baltimore. I very rarely travel to the northeast, and thus this was the first time I'd seen de-icing, etc. I traveled for RSA Southwest USA, thus I rarely saw/see wintery conditions when flying.I'm going to extract a couple of shots from the vid in the mean time. Just so you can see. =)BTW: Ryan, since this is an NG that we're talking about, and since this is discussing procedure. (spoiler extension/retraction), would it be fine to start a new thread for the videos? Edited July 17, 201114 yr by Efussander Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
July 17, 201114 yr Okay, here are a few shots from the video. I used a mp4>jpg converter, so the shots look kind of crappy...... Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
July 18, 201114 yr Not to hijack just wondered about the big boys reverse thrust. When the reverse thrust levers are brought back on roll out is there a preset speed that the turbine goes too when the housing unlocks? Is it variable in anyway or its all pre-programmed into the FADEC and is what it is? A Walker
July 18, 201114 yr Here ya go. Read description for overview. WATCH FULL SCREEN 720p! I hope to start a new topic once I upload the other videos. Edited July 18, 201114 yr by Efussander Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)
July 18, 201114 yr Not to hijack just wondered about the big boys reverse thrust. When the reverse thrust levers are brought back on roll out is there a preset speed that the turbine goes too when the housing unlocks? Is it variable in anyway or its all pre-programmed into the FADEC and is what it is?No...How far back you pull the reverse levers determines the engine N1. (amount of reverse thrust produced) See the diagram below. I took this picture directly from my FCOM Volume 2, Section 7.20.17:Notice the range of motion of the levers. You can also see from the diagram that there are two detents. Generally, upon landing, the forward thrust levers are brought to idle, then the reverse levers are pulled back to the interlock detent until it releases, at which time the reverse levers are pulled to the second detent. In extreme cases, the reverse levers may be pulled past the second detent to achieve the maximum reverse thrust of around 80% N1. (When speaking of the 'levers', I bold-typed the text to draw attention to the difference between forward trust levers, and reverse thrust levers.)There was an entire thread recently on this very subject. See here: http://forum.avsim.n...reverse-thrust/Hope this helps! Edited July 18, 201114 yr by Efussander Ethan Rayhorn My Office: (Taken at FL410)

Is it variable in anyway or its all pre-programmed into the FADEC and is what it is?Just to add, when the sleeves unlock the engine will be at idle, and actually forced to it. Just a rough guess as for the reasons, but I imagine it makes no sense to increase thrust as long as the revs are not fully out, as you'd have a short time at high fwd thrust. It's been explained above how this all happens. Basically you pull back the fwd thrust levers to idle, then pull up the revs (thus mechanically locking out the fwd thrust levers so they can't be advanced). But as long as the sleeves are in transition, the revs will be locked as well as far as adding thrust goes (that's the interlock), and once everything is where it should be, the interlock is removed and you may advance thrust by pulling up the rev levers.
