Hey guys, I was wondering if you had any ideas for me hereI just got a new 5970 graphics card for use in my PC and it's running FSX perfectly, now the problem is I can't even get X-plane to load, it gets to a point, I head a flash of ATC talk then nothing and then windows declares the program stalled and it closes.I have tried removing the prefs file, but to no avail, it seems to not even be getting to that point, when I follow the text on the bottom, it states that it has loaded my plane and it's "done with finish region" and then the stall.Any Ideas?

Hi,I'm using xp v7.63 and I recently got a copy of Goodway/Benedict Stratman's Boeing 737-800. I'm damned if I can get the effing thing to start. The manual which came with it has clearly been written assuming you spend ten hours a day in the plane and isnt much help for a simmer like me. What doesn't help is altho I'm using a 15.4-inch laptop, you cannot make out half the upper console switch names.A trawl of the net only elicited a u-tube video of the 737-800 startup on FS/FSX, and it was clearly made by a 17-year old baboon, who didn't stop to think the end use, ie me, might not want to see it rushed through at lightning speed. Even though I downloaded the video, on re…

Hi all!I just recieved my copy of XP-9... Stunned by the visuals and by the performance, but I have two questions.1. Sometimes, the reflections (waves) of the water moves way too fast, sometimes even giving me the illusion of flying backwards with a fixed wing aircraft. Is there a fix for this?2. Sometimes, when I choose a new airport, the wind sets automatically to 200kts (!) and I am blown away, even just standing still on the runway. I use real world weather for this. (excuse me for still using MS terms.. :()Any help appreciated for this noob, getting ready to convert a TON of addon scenery...//Johan

I happened to stumble on a plug-in for X-Plane called "Clear skies". There are versions for both MAC and Windows (Die hard X-planers probably already know about this!). What this plugin does is prevent X-Plane from artificially reducing visibility when it determines frame rates will suffer ( less then 19FPS ). This fixes one of my biggest pet peeves with X-Plane. Now if there was only a plugin to expand visibility past 25nm!Beware to much scenery still will send X-Plane frames into the single digits,Windowshttp://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=do...p;showfile=3580MAChttp://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?autoco...p;showfile=1728

Hello, I'm posting here because I am wondering what FS I should buy. I have a Sempron 3300 1 gig ram and about to upgrade vid card to best AGP I can get which is only $150.I was thinking I should maybe buy MS 2004 second hand due to the limits of my hardware. I think that multiplayer is something that I consider most important along with realistic airports ..well realistic everything.Do both x-plane and MSFS use multiplayer in much the same way ? Does one offer a better multiplayer experience over the other ?Does x-plane 9 require more computing power than MS2004 ?

What interval is the source of X-Plane's online weather updated? Currently at 14:00 EST here down in Kissimmee Florida, it is 39 degrees (Fahrenheit) cloudy with light rain. According to X-Plane it's 22 degrees (fahrenheit) cloudy and a blizzard. Now there was some light snow flurries and a little sleet earlier this morning but now in the afternoon it's all rain. Is this source kept up to date, or is it only updated at longer intervals. In any case Central Florida never has had a blizzard before!!

If this is old news I apologize, but it's new to me.:) I'm using Plan-G.exe on a client with X-Plane running on my main computer. There is a neat little plug-in for X-Plane that emulates FSUIPC. I can use FSMoving Map, FSMap, FS Commander (X-Plane flight planning) and Plan-G on the client. Even though they are using the FSX data base, the differences are minor. Plan G is the best freeware program I have seen in the last 5 years as it works with FS9 and FSX too. Plan-Ghttp://www.tasoftware.co.uk/ XPUIPChttp://www.tosi-online.de/First.htmlBob.. :)

I am just starting out in XP 9. I note that I can press Ctrl-O and get a 3D panel that I can pan around in the C172, however when flying the B747 when pressing Ctrl-O I get a partial panel that I can pan around- it's almost like the 2D panel but made smaller and only occupying a portion of the screen. Is this correct? Thanks, Bruce.

Wings Of Prey was released a few days ago. I believe this WWII combat sim has been derived from the classic IL2 Sturmovik. Why would this be of interest to X-Plane users? Well, check out the amazing dense autogen, sharp ground textures, excellent 3D models, HDR lighting, self shadowing (including cockpit shadows), water (waves and transparent shallows) and best clouds (including shadows and windscreen rain effects) I've ever seen. No blurries, no stutter, and absolutely fluid fps.Is it possible that XPlane 10 could implement some of the same graphics capabilities? Is OpenGL as capable?Even if you're not into combat sims this demo (1.2gb) is worth downloading just to se…

This is going to be my rubbish column. Quotes taken from another X-Plane forum where I cannot respond."I've even found FSX a usable tool - the planes are totally unrealistic (stock planes anyway) and the dynamics differs from reality but thats what I find callenging - I do not seek reality, but ability to handle a plane that flies whatever way it does."My response. ----- In what way are FSX "stock" planes totally un-realistic? I'm a pilot, and don't believe that. Even some flight instructors around these forums would agree with my point. Personally, I find the simple 172 & the high wing Maule as quite acceptable in recreating flights from point A to B. If these aircr…

..trains and radio chatter sounds.Hi,for flying over my home area i'm searching a german replacement train or help how to replace the default american train.I think i'm able to make a german S-Bahn model, but i have no clue how i can replace the default train and what rules have to be respected.I also want to replace the default radio chatter with sounds of the Stuttgart area, so i'd be very thankful if someone would know how i could get those real ATC sounds and what rules have to be respected for X-Plane.Thanks in advance and happy and healthy new year to everyone!EDIT: sorry, "of" and not "for" in the thread title :(

For those who didn't get the .Org Newsletter, there are some great freeware sceneries for X-Plane available.Especially Tenerife looks absolutely fantastic. High resolution, smooth and crisp, without stutters or blurries: DL: http://myspace.voo.be/thdamman/xplane/crbst_4.htmlImages: http://myspace.voo.be/thdamman/xplane/crbst_5.htmlOnly the transitions to the water are not to my liking (one of the downsides of X-Plane).With a few more objects, some AI life in it and with water masks it would be perfect.

It seems no time since I was asking this question some 15 years ago about FS5 :), in the "pre-AVSIM "days of "the list" . How do I add aircraft, scenery etc. from downloads to X-Plane, is there a tutorial? I note that some aircraft downloads are just the .acf file, I assume something like an .air file? Thanks for any help, Bruce.
