HiJust purchased and updated X-Plane and am npow experimenting with flying. However I find the 'mouse pan/control' feature unbearably annoying. I have tuned my 'hat' on the joystick to move around so how can I turn off the mouse panning control?cheers

Check out this new video, look for "Bombing range video" under the pics.http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=450867Love the working mirrors and ordinance. :( Also, look at the way the plane reacts during the takeoff roll, in XP aircraft start "flying" as they gather speed on the runway. FSX/FS9 doesnt seem to actually model the "flight" until the gear are off the ground.

I'm having a problem getting the Cessna 172 GPS to navigate. As hard as it is to see the numbers and letters, I managed to enter my home airprt identifier using the Direct To key, then Enter, according to the manual's GPS section (Page 97). I also had the CDI button on GPS. The a/p is in Auto, but nothing happens. The manual doesn't even mention that the A/P needs to be on for the GPS. I tried with it both on and then off, but no success. What am I missing? In FSX, there is also a NAV button on the Autopilot that must be on to activate the GPS, as well as a VOR/GPS button in certain aircraft. I tried nav 1 and nav 2 selection (little green light) also. Thanks for all t…

Being new to X-Plane, I have been doing a lot of exploring and have been impressed so far. When I went to the Local Map view, I noticed the accuracy of lakes, rivers, ponds, etc. at least in my home area. Bridges also seem to be in the correct place, as well as roads. The problem though seems to be the accuracy of local streets as well as urban buildings, local streets, and houses. Colors are great, but the placement of urban textures seems generic and random, as they are in FSX with lack of a landclass update which corrects the accuracy of roads and streets, but not local buildings and houses. I also like exploring with Google Earth as well as the map feature on my ipho…

I just watched some XP9 videos on YouTube. One used some great view options within the Cessna 172 cockpit that allowed full panning in all directions, and zoomed all the way out to allow full view of the interior including front and side windows. I was able to do this in FSX also. So far, I have tried different views myself, and like the one where the mouse movement allows complete panning, however I am unable to zoom out that far. It allows me to zoom in (using the - and = keys) really close but not out. I am still right up against the cockpit. Is thers another option I am missing that allows zooming out to take in more of the whole cockpit interior? Thanks. Tom

I am new to the X-Plane being a MSFS user for years. I decided to try it out but I am surprised that with my new system, it performs about the same as FSX does for me. In FSX I have most sliders turned up pretty well, and most features enabled. I also have lots of realistic ai aircraft with the correct airlines (ultimate traffic) and a realistic weather addon. I average about 20-30 fps. In XP9.31 I thought I'd be fine. On first startup it showed 60+ fps! Once in the air though I got a warning that my settings were too high and that I would have to deal with fog to keep my fps up. This is with only 1 aircraft selected (me) and most other rendering options at default or m…

Well, I had much better results with X-Plane tonight and tuned settings for much better framerates. It seems that the world distance setting made the big difference. Is there any documentation for each specific plane? For example, in the Cessna 172, I wanted to set the vertical speed or the altitude. The altitude chapter in the downloaded manual seems more a general explanation for all autopilots such as in the larger jets. (Flight Level Change, etc.) The manual in the X-Plane folder is pretty much the same but with no pictures and illustrations Also, I wanted to learn more about the Garmin. (Can it be enlarged? It is difficult to read as a panel gauge.) Thanks. Regard…

I am new to XPlane and before getting the full XP9 I decided to try it out on the iphone. I was really impressed with the engine sounds that seem o make you feel you are really moving. Even in the Cessna 172. I decided to get the full desktop version but was disappointed in the Cessna engine. It is very similar to most of the unrealistic engine sounds that have been common in MSFS including FSX, and even seems to play in a predictable loop. It's not my sound system either. My sound card is fine. Are there ways to improve it? Thanks Tom

This is a nice view, two DELL 24 in diagonal widescreens with X Plane strectched across the two without any "apparent" distortions at all.The panel shown here is fully 3D virtual and comes with XP.The bar separating the two screens is not seen here because this is a "screenshot" not a snapshot. In the next shot it is the payware MU-2 with a lateral field of view reduced to 0.75 (was 0.95 in the first shot)..Screen resolution for X Plane is custom at 3840x1200Frame rates are fine (not high)The backdrop is Vancouver International freeware from FS9 AVSIM library made to work in XP using FS2Xplane freewareAllen

I'm running X Plane V9.2 at max resolution but the instrument panels are not filling up the screen side to side, leaving a sizable gap (about 2 inches) on either side of the instrument panel where I can see outside the panel, scenery, sky etc...How do I enlarge the panels to stretch them from side to side and fill the monitor screen? :(

Howdy,I had the pleasure of meeting Austin Meyer (x-plane) today. I was able to sit a chat with him for half an hour. Very intelligent and likable gentleman. Seemed like "just another guy" type person. Needless to say, I was impressed and am thinking about giving x-plane another try. Anybody have thoughts on some good Add-on aircraft for x-plane? Gary

Listening to this guy gives you quite a headache...http://www.fsbreak.net/podcast/22One thing he says during the interview:"Nobody fired from ACES or from Aerosoft has contacted me..."After listening to him for an 1 hour, I can imagine some reasons why they haven't called.

Greetings fellow Tinmouse pilotsI have been flying the Tinmouse 2 for a couple of weeks now. For me, it's a great freeware plane. The only serious drawback to me is the lack of response I'm getting in both the reverse thrust and autobrakes. The only way I'm able to stop is by using the parking brake (.). I hope I'm doing something wrong and the problem can be resolved. I followed the install instructions, and tried reinstalling, to no avail.I wanted to post here in case you Tinmouse guys have addressed this possible flaw, by tweaking - or know if there's a mistake in the flight model or install that we have to live with.Welcome any input and help.Ed

I just wanted to share something pretty cool that I happened on to...I have always loved FS going way back like many of us have, and I still very much enjoy FSX going all the way back to it's release, along with all the joys and problems we all experienced with it, SP1, SP2, Blurries, etc...I've also created commercial Scenery software in the past with friends and several thousand copies were sold and downloaded for several airports before we made our soft…

A comment on the interiors of some aircraft where the cockpit is far from the quality of the exterior. By this I mean that several of the cockpits have decent 3d panels but the other interior elements are very simple gray shapes that are there to represent he cockpit but in a crude manner. In stark contrast there are some aircraft that are about as detailed on the inside as is possible. The range of attention to the cockpit is at both extremes.I ain't suicidal so I would not dare to show examples. I also fully appreciate the effort put into making an aircraft, both inside and out. I acknowledge the implied higher quality of payware versus free stuff. But to spend serious …

Hello Tom.Have you ever been interested in building this plane for X-Plane ( payware ). The default is very dated. If not, can i now be the first to tempt you with this proposition. I say this, with with respect to your 3d expertise and knowledge of X-plane. I'm thinking updated animations, and object model. Inlet spike and cabin animations etc. Thanks and please consider.
