Having recently purchased an IMac computer I wish to buy XPlane, and wish to know what availibility of joysticks there are. I am aware that some are PC only. I am looking for something not to expensive. Is the Saitek Aviator available on a Mac platform? Thanking you in anticipation. Charles

Hi,I am a newbie to XPlane being a FSX simmer from its inception until now and having some MFS version since its beginning. I just got XP9 and still have to install it, but I have been using the IPhone version for several months now, to try it out. One airport I just can't seem to land at without smashing the Cessna 172 into a mountain is CKU airport in the Boswell Bay Alaska region. I used the 172 since it is slower, but even when touching down at about 75 knots with full brakes and flaps, I go off the end of the runway and crash into the side of a mountain at the end of the runway. Any ideas how to land on this short strip without crashing? Thanks. Regards, TomP.S.Does …

Hi guys,i just ordered ver 9 and am looking forward to receiving it. My question is there a easy way to remove the 3d yoke in the VC? They usually get in the way and I have a yoke in my hand so I don't like seeing the cartoony looking one as it's distracting. and does the removal, if possible, also work on payware? Many thanks, charles

Some of the features being currently planned for X-Plane 10:.Better Scenery with the integration of Open Street Map..An editor to let users quickly design airports (default buildings are not yet to be expected for every airport in the world)..Better, localised weather (I guess similar to the station-based weather in MSFS?)..Better default planes, with at least two high detailed aircrafts (Dornier 328 and MD 80)..Improved ATC..(Still to be decided) speech recognition?Seems like X-Plane v10 is still a long way to go though.Marco

Hi,since it is possible to replace the radio chatter files of X-Plane, i'm wondering if there is a tool which is able to stream live ATC sound files (at least for the USA)?Or are there any stactic replacement real ATC sounds? Thanks in advance!

I tried the latest version of X-Plane and found that the best feature it offered me was the beautiful startup photo !The rest of it...................well maybe I best not comment. It remained on my computer for four days - Now I am back to real flight simulation with FS9 and FSX, FS9 being my preference.Best wishes to all who made up the ACEs team and THANK YOU ALL for giving me such enjoyment.regardsRichard

I'm all for supporting X-Plane as I think its a great productbut whenever I try the trial - planes seem VERY VERY twitchywithout much provocation on my joystick they seem to either porpoise or perform un-natural movements.have I a config issue ?doesn't look realistic thats for sure - even large aircraft - instead of slow pondorous movements they seem twitchy too ...thanks for any help,Mark.

I'm trying out xplane and so far I'm impressed. What I don't like is that the simulator tells me I have too many rendering options set and then reduces the visibility to compensate. I have tried to lower the frame rates a bit but it won't let me go below 19fps, why is that? And how do I change it?Acer Laptop 6530 2ghtz dual core4gb ramATI 512mb graphics cardThanks Gerry

Hi everyone,I'm new to X-Plane, with a total of 3 hours of frustration/////////////// slowly learning it. There are indeed many great features. Unfortunately, the program is really not low-vision friendly. - the gray-on-gray color scheme makes it very difficult to read anything. - it appears that there are no "pop-ups" for instruments, PFDs, MFDs, and so on- in general, fonts do not scale. I tried 800 x 600 but that is extremely unsatisfactory- there is an included 747, and I can operate that cockpit very easily on low vision, but what came up wasn't a 747 cockpit. I deleted and reinstalled X-Plane but the same (wrong) cockpit appeared. Is there any third-party stuff tha…

I bought X plane and am thoroughly happy with it. I've already started work on a Saab 340 aircraft and also modified the default 747-400 panel. However, After playing around with it to get a feel for it, I find the autopilot doesn't work. But it used to when I first got the sim a week ago. Here's what happens.I set the aircraft for takeoff. I apply TOGA and takeoff normally. I engage autopilot to AUTOA/T mode works fineI click the VS button and the VS digits blank outI cannot set a vertical speed.I press FLCH and the autopilot flicks back to ONIt used to work and now no matter what I do, I can't get it to work.Help would be appreciated.Goran

There is a program called "skycharts" for the iphone I have been using. It gives you current vfr charts with your aircraft geo referenced, along with approach plates and facility directory for airports which can be called up by tapping on the iphone over an airport. It is a great backup in an aircraft-however.........they just added the ability to use it with xplane. You change two settings in xplane-then using your wifi you now have a cordless moving map on your iphone-pretty cool-and for $10 an excellent value-both rw and sim world! (The new reality xp waas Garmin is amazing too).

It's been a while since I studied X-Plane seriously, but one thing stands out -- the default textures. They are great, especially in the flight levels. While the landclass may not be always accurate, the default textures are very nice, especially in the flight levels. One thing that bothers me however is the textures and max vis do not extend far enough. Are there any manual config settings of X-Plane that can be tweaked to extend the texture visibility? Even 60 miles out would be an improvement. I live and fly in the desert Southwest, and 60 mile vis. is considered a hazy day :)Regards,John

This is probably something Geof can answer, I decided to pick up XPlane 9 at my local BB today and remember the discussions regarding tweaking your Baron. It sounded like there was an analog to adjusting MOI values for MSFS. I want to play around a bit and see if I can get the aircraft to show a better feel in the air. Also, I understand there is an application similar to Tileproxy available for X-Plane. Does anyone know what that application is called, and whether it is freeware or payware?Regards,John

I have been following your interest in X-Plane and your desire to simulate the Baron. My question for you is what Baron are you using in X-Plane? I would love to find something with reasonably accurate flight dynamics and a good 3-D panel. Thank you in advance for any help.

Well I might as well be first to try to get this forum going. Again I'm real new to X-plane (see my post in the above thread), however really enjoying the look and potential it has to offer. Already have the excellent Inside Passage Scenery which covers some of my home territory as well as having downloaded many freeware airports etc. already. One problem is landclass, especially when flying in areas in which I am familiar. In MSFS this is of course also a problem, however it is easily fixed with addons and I was able to tweak it myself as well. Are there any programs, utilities, or tutorials that would help me to modify the landclass in X-plane without going to orth…

I finally bit and Purchased X-plane 9 after following the long thread "I tried X-plane". Their is much to like about this sim and I am finding the overall look to be more realistic than FSX (IMO) and the weather is more accurate with far superior overcast conditions than I can obtain in FSX even with ASX. One thing I am dissapointed in is everytime reload a saved situation in X-plane, it always places me back on the ground at the closest airport to where I saved. Is there any way to save a flight so that it starts in flight exactly where you left off ? My sim time is very limited and sometimes I must complete a flight in multiple sessions. This is a big problem for …

Hi folksJust trying the sim out as have seen many a good video on YouTube.Anyways, I have the demo of v9.21 and seems good so far although Crtl-O supposedly reveals the 3D cockpit.Am i to assume that most X-Planes do not have a functioning VC (ala FSX) of just some of them?I am also wondering about the smoke textures on takeoff and landing. Mine are big blobs of smoke that do not look real.I am trawling the forums for newbie assistance and am getting somewhere i think. Any other tips or directions i should go?Cheers allDoug

Hello everyone.I just upgraded to the new version, full install, and at DVD 5 of 6, I got an Error that a number of files could not be read. Unable to copy … /Eath nav data+70+50/+71+052.dsf.7z .....from DVD to Hard drive… Stop, Continue.. I tried to continue but eventually none of the rest of the files worked. Canceled the Install, got a new set of DVDs and tried to Repair but it could not find anything wrong? The second set of DVDs did exactly the same thing. It does seem to Start and Run but I do not know where and what it will act like in the future? I will have to return and give up, if I cannot find a solution.I also seems to start with the Mouse Pan on. Anytime I mov…
