I just purchased Xplane 9 the other day, Wont get it until next week. However, I did play around with the Demo and was impressed with it. I am an FSX user who wants to give Xplane a try. My questions are:What is the best dedicated forum for Xplane users? Is xplane created by one guy, or is there a team of programmers working on it. I keep reading about Austin Myers. Is he the sole creater and owner of xplane?I read about converting MS flightsim scenery to xplane. Does this work? and what issues does this cause, if any? Thanks in advance for any answers.Rob

I just purchased X-Pane 9.0, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to make it fit my monitor. With FSX and MS-ACOF it is simple, Alt + Enter. Does anyone know how to do this?I registered at X-Plane.org but it their forum will still not allow me to post a new topic for some strange reason.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Brando

I am trying to make a cockpit from my real aircraft's image. So far some things work quite well but a couple questions if anyone knows the answer. Here is a shot so far:1) Under #1-How do I get rid of these "white spots" that surround the instrument? They are not in the bitmap image...2) How do I "recalibrate" a needle e.g. at full power I should get 2600 rpm-because I have changed the bitmap I get 3700 now.3) General question-my gauges I have made from photos are sharp in the photos. They also are sharp in plane maker. However, when run in the sim they are blurry. I have tried doubling the resolution of the images from the defaults but that doesn't seem to help either. …

Hi,I have been programming gauges for FS9 and FSX for years now (C & C++) and with the latest developments in MS, I got interested in X-Plane. I just purchased version 9.22 and wanted to see how X-Plane gauges are programmed and to possibly port my FS gauges to X-Plane in the future.I understand X-Plane uses what they call "plug-ins" (.dll's ?) to create gauges. I also found the SDK v.2 on the website but what I am looking for is a basic tutorial with some simple examples to get me started.Does the plug-in use Macro based systems or can you use GDI+ to draw everything you want ? What about the sound system, is that DirectSound based ? Or is everything OpenGL ? (have n…

Hey guys,I just upgraded to the newest release build series. Very nice!I like the reflective water.Have you seen the 'crazy' setting for airport scenery for Innsbruck? Outdoor furniture, static aircraft, high detail buildings, cars in the parking lots... Impressive! If only I could zoom out just a bit more 'inside' the VC so I could see more area in there. I would be a happy camper.BillLHC

Yesterday I bought X-Plane 9 PC version. One issue I'm having is constant stuttering like every 10 seconds and worse during high speed flight in excess of mach 1. Also I got like a 30 second pause during flight. Another issue I'm having is that after switching views, sometimes I get slow motion until I switch to another view. I have the latest update of X-Plane 9. My system configuration is as follows:Q9450 CPU8800 Ultra video card4 GB DDR-2 800 memory640 GB WD hard driveSound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS sound cardWindows Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS

I have used MS Flight Sim for several years, now using FSX SP2 with Vista SP1, but zero experience with X-plane.I just bought and loaded X-Plane 9 today. I ran the online update and am still in the process of setting up controls etc. I have been flying the C172 and everything seems to work as advertised except the "Enter" key command to display the ATC menu. Nothing happens, no ATC display.Any tips? Something else required first?Regards,Thrakete

I just got x-plane 9 and have taken a few flights with good success. I am wondering how do I see airport information such as radio frequencies, runway lengths and so forth? Local map does not have any of it.Tom PetersonFargo, ND

Hi,I have spent a little time with 8.6 and am somewhat impressed. I was curious about the new version 9. I read the features on the laminar site but wanted to hear directly from someone who is currently using the new version. Would someone mind providing the good, bad and ugly as well as the most standout improvements from 8 to 9?RegardsBob

I used the XML language to program all of the gauges, that I used in Microsoft's FS9. I have not been able to find out which program language I will need to build X-Plane 9 gauges. I am running it on a Linux box. I hope it is not "C" or "CC+" because I no longer have them on my computer. Does anyone know if this is possible, or are we stuck with the default gauges? Thanks

My first impression of X-plane V9 a few weeks ago was pretty much on the negative side, and I made a couple of posts to that effect. My conclusion was that it was "different" and good enough for an occasional short break from FSX, but really not in the same class.Guess what? Now that my FSX installation is working smoothly, I find that I am getting pretty much burned out on the flying part of FSX, and this with no real changes apparently pending for another 2 years or so. I am still spending some time in FSX Flight Dynamics and learning how to use some of the developer oriented programs, but I have pretty much started using X-plane with the GA models for most of my "flyi…

Long-time MSFS fan ever since I was eight years old when my father installed FS$ on out 486 PC back in the day. With FSX, I finally gave up with Microsoft & Flight Simulator! After reading about X-Plane over the years, I thought this was a simulator that didn't rely on scenery but more of a training tool. Than I read about X-Plane 9.0. After buying the game over the weekend, I'm convinces X-Plane could surpass MS Flight Sim Series over the next couple of years. Given the ease of development tools already available, X-Plane add-on expansion should almost TRIPLE, yes...triple over the next year. The "best "part of x-plane, no blurry textures and you don't have to touch an…

Working on a review of X-Plane 9 vs. FSX SP2, the pros and cons of each. But so far, I'm really enjoying X-Plane 9, some quick pluses:1. Detail distance -- no shape shifting scenery like there is in FSX and no blurries.2. Control over image quality is considerably better than FSX and makes it very easy to dial in that perfect performance/quality threshold.3. Global scenery included that is impressive with the amount of detail (60GB on 6 DVD's).4. Weather, better than default FSX, but not as good as ActiveSkyX + Graphics X (but those are add-ons to FSX).5. Flight model from Taxi to takeoff to climb -- just feels better, more realistic, especially the Cessna which I hav…
