Background: way back when I used to like TR's Fly2, and before that, enjoyed Flight Unlimited. I've probably bought 4 versions of the MSFS program, but have always come away disappointed for some reason or another, and I don't think I want to buy any more versions of that, plus there is no Linux version available.I've been out of the hobby for a long time, but now that Fly2 is no more developed, I am considering to try x-plane. The bonus is there is a Linux version: I'm basically done with Windows any more - my main computer doesn't even have it installed! I recently moved to Mac and therefore X-Plane, and the sim change was harder than the OS change by far.As it turns out, the blog I work for managed to get an interview with Austin Meyer, the creator of X-Plane. I am trying to get the hang of x plane , I have calibrated the joystick and i can roll down the runway straight but immediately after take off i go into an irrecoverable right bank turn and crash.It happens in every plane i tryI have re-calibrated several [email protected]

A friend has bought the latest x-plane (I still have 6.21 .. ;) ), and he says that he doesn't get a heading tape on the HUD.He sent me a screenshot, and I didn't see it either.There *is* a "half-circle" in the middle of the HUD (bank indicator ?).Is there supposed to be a heading tape?Is there a setting to turn it on? ... Or can it be modified with plane-maker / use an alternative HUD with heading tape ?Mike

Hello All,I am trying to take some X-Plane screenshots via Screenhuter 5.1 but all of my shots are solid black. The ap. seems to work fine for FS9/FSX but with X-Plane it's all cukoo for coco-puffs.Any ideas? Should I try a different screenshot app, and if so, any recommendations?Thanks for your time!

Hi,i want to exclude all of X-Plane's roads and objects. So far i have only created excludes per tile but i want excludes for the whole X-Plane world.What would be the best way to achieve that? Or would it be sufficient to delete the -global overlays- folder?

I recently purchased Goodway and really like the way it can download weather and then automatically calculate a route, including proper SIDs and STARs, based on that info.Is there a comparable flight planner for FSX?Wilson

I recently decided to become a multi-sim user and give X-plane a "real" try, the x-plane 9 box has been sitting on my desk for about a year now.Knowing all of the needless drama that goes back and forth between the X-plane and FS camps, I wanted to see what I could get out of the sim. Overall I must say I have become very satisfied with the experience. How many times have you put X-Plane into 'Chase View' to get a better view and understanding of your situation only to find that with no instruments displayed you've now got bigger problems? When trying to take off the aircraft turns off the runway as soon as power is applied.I've tried altering the "Center" sliders but that doesn't help.Guidance would be appreciated.Cliffie

I've just downloaded the Windows v9.45 Demo. But I'm noticing that the flight model for all aircrafts are unusually stiff. I mean, there is no smoothness in the flight models, if you for example let the joystick free during a turn, the aircraft will remain in the exact position without swinging a bit. Is that normal or just a configuration adjustment?Thanks!

Hi,I bought xplane 9 dvd's about a year ago or so but never did install it. What is confusing is I have another set of disks (6 or 7 of them) which only show a picture of a flat world map with an area highlighted. Being the brilliant person I am, I discovered that this is scenery for x-plane (-: Since the install disks for v9 also contain scenery, I was stumped as to which disks contain the latest scenery. I actually tried the U.S. scenery from both sets of disks, but could not see any difference.I also had an issue with some of the files during install that did not get copied due to an error stating input/output error.
