I bought X plane 9 some time ago and uninstalled it the reason being, I didn't quite understand certain things that weren't mentioned in the instruction manual, such as, how do you know where you are in the X plane world? Also, how to stop the planes from rocking back and forth on the runway. My other confusion was trying to set up my joystick, in FSX, its automatic, but in XP9 it seems like each individual button has to be programmed, and that can be tedious to me. Is there a way to set up the joystick by somehow importing all of my FSX settings into this flight simulator? I do not intend to give up using FSX, just have a different flying experience.

Hi,I have been an avid MS-FS user for years. Nut I would like to explore new sims. I have purchased X-Plane 9, but each time I install it, I trash it because of the differing ui compared to MS-FS. Some questions I have to make my X-Plane flying more enjoyable are:1. Is there a similar outside viewpoint to spot view in FSX that I can pan around in with my hat switch?2. Is there a 3D cockpit view point similar to the FSX VC that i can pan around and move around in with out track ir? (ie use hat switch for pan, keys to move fowards/back, side to side)Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm very new to x-planes and I can't seem to get the autopilot to word on any of the airplanes that have it. After take-off, i click on the heading hold and alt. hold buttons. They both light up, but the airplane does what it want to. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi all, new here and appreciate the advice...I'm training for my private pilots license and have never really used a flight simulator. I recently came into a Precision Flight Instruments Cirrus II version 4.911 console (yoke and switches, rudders, avionics, and a control box). It has no manuals or software. I also own a Dell laptop with Windows XP and an Intel Centrino Duo processor. I've also ordered XPlane v9. That's it for now.Do I need anything else to make this thing work and get flying?! Any thoughts, tips, advice would be very welcome! If I can't get it to work soon, the wife is going to make me sell it!Thanks,TylerDurden

I was watching History Channel, Extrreme Airports and just had to open XPlane9 and give it a try. I failed it every time. I used XP9 for this because the runways follow the terrain contour. It was a blast trying it though. I was in the default C172; tried full flaps, near to stall just trying to putter up over the hill before pushing down to hopefully gently touch down.I tried it with FS9 and was successful in the Quest Kodiak amphib passenger variant. Though the scenery was much more appealing visually; I found it much easier because of the flattened runway. It was still fun though and very beautiful. Departed from TNCM Princess Juliana. Good sim times.jimb

Hi AllI just downlaode x plane.I am having problem with x plane not seeing all the buttons on the CH product fighterstick.At each start up different buttons are recognised-and its never more than 2 or 3.I have the latest ch driver v4.51 installled.I am fsx user and I have had no such problems with fsx.Can somebody please help-I tried the x plane forum but its very limited and it does not allow to post topics.So far my experience of x plane has been very poor-if I cn set up the joystick may be I will be able to experience some of the fun many are claiming.Many tanks for all help.Qas

I have a PC with 120GB hard drive which is dedicated to FS and has both FS2004 and FSX on it already. About 20 GB atill available - definitely not enough space left for X-Plane.Can I put in a second hard drive and install and run X-Plane from it or will that cause performance or other problems?Thanks,Steve

While I do like X-Plane so far, I really think that the graphical display is sub par. Three things that I don't really like: 1) very coarse mesh (at least in Europe) with faults -check LOWS for example, you can fall through the world there.2) while lakes are quite ok, rivers seem to be, well, pretty erratic3) landclasses (or ditribution of different terrain) seems to follow hearsay, not reality.These things combined do make VFR flights look more than strange.My question: Is there any remedy, be it freeware or commercial?

Hey,As I am contemplating to switch over I would like to ask some X-Plane users who fly on IVAO about the stability of the X-ivap software on Windows XP. I checked the IVAO forums and I have seen a lot of complaints about gradual framerate lss, etc. but most of them were from Linix and Mac users. Is there someone who flys X-Plane on IVAO regularly on a Windows platform? If yes then how is it? what are the main compromises one gotta make?Thanks,Alex

Dear all,I have updated my x-plane version to 9.50rc3 and then downloaded vasFMC 2.0 and x-plane 9.31 plugin. Unfortunately I could not integrate and get vasFMC work with my x-plane 9.50rc3. I have tried even with all of the freeware aircrafts which are told to work in different forum sites.Please tell me if I am doing sth. wrong or is it releated with the release issues that vasFMC does not support x-plane 9.50rc3?Hoping to hear from you very soonRgds

I was going to try again to "fix" my controls, but figured I'd ask about it here in the mean time.I am having controller / performance issues:1) Default 172. Weather was 10 kt crosswind, slight turbulence. As soon as I release the brakes, the plane starts sliding around, notable to the left. Not forward - sideways.2) Once in the air it's FAR too touchy, and the P-factor is very overstated. Is there a way to tune the P-factor to get a little more real? Also, it was rocking around like a leaf.
