Read the interview here. Interesting read here too: the view from a former senior airline pilot totally devoted to X-Plane :-)

  2. and want to use it on XPX, there's a new plugin at the org. I am still getting the bugs worked out, but it seems promising. One of the things I always likes about the FIP was the ability to turn the knobs and have the HSI and VOR guages turn in the sim. I am not there yet with this plugin, but I can't yet tell if I am the problem or the software. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=17637 enjoy.

Not a real world pilot here, but lots of experience with large rc aircraft, so bare with me. I'm having a tough time getting aircraft to fly level. I'm constantly having to adjust the ailerons, and that wouldn't be such a big deal I guess, but it seems like your always one click away from rolling left or right. It's as if the aircraft is teetering on a cylinder. Roll left, give one click right aileron and your rolling right, give one click left aileron and your rolling left. There doesn't seem to be a point where the rolling stops, it's a constant one way or the other. How do you stop the teetering. Controls are set up fine, something in Planemaker perhaps? It's n…

hi guys, I have little faith in the xplane forum for finding answers on this topic...its awfully messy in its structure. it would be good if I could find recent and technically up to date wiki on this topic. I have just installed blender 2.63 and have xplane10 demo. I have downloaded io_xplanetoblender script and installed it to what I think is the right directory. in blender I am able to export to xplane, however there is no "xplane obj" import option in the file menu in blender. I have read that the import function was not available earlier this year...is that still the case??? surely there must be a solution to this by now...any ideas???

  6. Hi Guys, With all the snow that's been hitting the UK this last week, I found myself with some time off. So I decieded to look into scenery creation for XPX just to fill out the world a bit. So I choose a nice simple airport, RJCR or Rebun airport in the north of Japan. Now I first edited the airport where it was, but after sorting out an underlay satellite image just for reference and found the airport to be slightly wrong place. So I rebuilt airport and I thought I'd fill in a bit of scenery around the runway. The problem is though I'm unsure how to create a harbour wall, edit some roads in and level some of the terrain out. In fairness I've found WED 1.2 …

I have been a casual user of X-Plane for some time, I use it for a while then go back to FSX with all of it's multi-$,000 add-ons that I have collected over the years..... But last night I tried the new version of XP-X with the 64-bit (I'm running Windows 8/64 bit). As a RL small plane pilot, I can really say that I don;t think I have found this level of immersion before with a desktop sim. Stuff like the sloping runways (which appears exaggerated, but is still very cool), and the visual perspective on approach... I looked around this forum and finally discovered how to configure my CH yoke hat switch to "pan" (in steps) laterally (still working on the vertical…

  9. I wanted to start this thread to discuss iPad/iPhone apps made to be used with X-Plane. My favorites so far are: AirTrack // http://www.ipobjects.com/products/airtrack - This app is great, its basically a remote controller to fly your plane, an ND/FMC/EFIS and more. I can be eating dinner while controlling my plane. It's awesome! It can be used as an EFB to store all your maps, charts, etc as well. You can even update and modify your flight plans. X-Mapper Pro // https://itunes.apple.com/app/id490618924?mt=8 - I love this app! It shows me in realtime where my plane is at on a map! Great for VFR flying. No need to constantly go to the file menu and go to map to se…

  11. I've used both FSX and XPX extensively and enjoy them both. Each one has its own issues that I don't like, but the ones specifically for X-Plane that bother me are: 1) Airport/Scenery/Buildings - This has been discussed to death already. The default terrain mesh is much nicer than the ones in FSX. The detail is much higher quality. However I am let down by the overall look of scenery. The colors are very bland and washed out and when looking at water areas from a distance they seem to have no detail at all until you are closer. The autogen buildings need more variety and lack detail as well. Every place I fly to looks like NYC. You know, the typical brownstone buildin…

I downloaded the X Plane 10 Demo today and wanted to share my quick thoughts, coming from an FS-X and FS-9 background (and having purchased X-Plane 9). My initial thoughts, very positive! After performing some basic setup and fiddling with the tons of graphics options, I have X-Plane 10 performing just as good as FS-X, with slightly more detail. I am of the opinion (and I've formed it from looking at many of the screenshots posted in the screenshots forum) that X Plane 10 at its default install looks more beautiful than FS-X. The default X-Plane 10 aircraft now far exceed FS-X's aircraft in terms of detail, especially interior detail. As far as Flight dynamics…

These are Ben's comments: "X-Plane 10.20 went final last night – we are now officially 64-bit (as well as 32-bit). We have a number of small bug fixes that we will put into 10.2x bug fix releases – the name of the game here is small, unintrusive fixes that make a big difference to the sim without risking more problems. We’ll get to bigger fixes in 10.30. Small things may include: A new apt.dat/nav.dat drop from Robin. Fixing the King-Air wipers – it looks like our exporter script went nuts. Fixing the command key on Mac – the control key works as expected. Fog is invasive – that’ll have to wait until 10.30." :Praying: :Applause: :Applause: h…

I recently installed XP 10, and when it went to update itself I did not check the "Check Beta releases". What I would like to do in update to the 64 bit version, which is still in beta, but now I don't seem to be able to get back to the updating page to make the choice to update from a beta file. I'm not sure what I am missing, so thought I would ask here. Thanks, Bruce.

  21. Hi Guys, I'm a bit disappointed because I though I had a solution to my frame per second limitation with max graphical details. Actually I run an i7 3770K overclocked at 4.4GHz on a Win7 64b. The X-plane I run is a 10.20rc2 version. Actually my central CPU was running under 50% of load and around 2GB of central RAM among the 8 installed. I had a GF 560GTX TI graphical card that seemed to be a bottleneck with its 1GB of DDR3 VRAM because when running GPU-Z the GPU load wasn't at the maximum but the memory was saturated -> low fps on big sceneries. I also run latest NVidia driver 314.07. So I installed instead a GF 660GTX TI with 3GB of VRAM and I can't really…

Any one using the 64 bit version of Airbua 320 Neo by JARdesign? I bought it yesterday and updated to 64 bit as per their upgrade and operating from cold and dark, I cannot not get the Nav display (heading, ect:) to work. It just stays totally dark. Have tried several times with no success. Going to try to reinstall the origional file and try to run in 32 bit mode. Not sure if I have missed something in the tutorial for start up or its the update file thats not working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Richard

X-Plane 10.30: we don’t know when this will be or what will be in it with any kind of certainty, but there are some areas we’re looking at, like fog and visibility (where we have a mix of bugs and feature requests that might go well together). I think that even for 10.30 we’ll be in “fix what we already have” mode, not “add more stuff” mode; we want to make X-Plane 10 as stable, solid and fast as possible. One of the goals of this roadmap is to make sure that 10.20 itself is a stable 64-bit release that authors can target and users can run. One reason why late bug fixes are going into 10.21 is to avoid delay in getting a solid, ‘final’ 64-bit release to everyone. (We…
