Does anyone know how to get SweetFx working in XP10? I am not sure if the files should go in the main XP10 directory or the plugin directory.

The freeware, definitelly the B-200 that Mario ( mariodonick ) kindly pointed us to today at another thread: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=16311 This B-200, not being the ultimate perfection in cockpit graphics, has all it needs to feel, for the time being, a gap in as far as a goos Super KingAir for X-plane 10 goes - I am having a great time flying it ( and just retouched a bit the Art Stab to my liking... ). And let's not forget it was developed for X-plane 9!!! The payware, definitely the An-24 ( by Felis ). A true masterpiece! It'll take me some good time to read through the manuals and learn to properly operate it ! ht…

Peter Hager, owner and developer of his A380 and A320 Family aircraft, has the following announcement. According to Peter “The 3D model of the virtual cockpit is done since a while. Basic modelling and textures are by Alexander Emelyanov, Russia, who did a real outstanding work. I am now implementing all the systems, animations and lighting effects, as well as applying some minor corrections.” He continues “Many codes had to be re-written, to enable absolutely authentical handling of all knobs and switches. OH-panel and glareshield are ready, main panel and pedestal still to do. I would like to release the VC before Christmas, but this is doubtful, since I need to trave…

Thanks to a "hintful" answer I got at the .ORG from Cessna729, a fan of the FF WL 777 ( just as I'm progressively becoming ... ) I am finally using this very handy implementation of "quick views" with X-Plane 10. http://developer.x-plane.com/2012/07/the-views-updates-to-a-very-important-system/ You simply focus on a given view and record it by hitting CTRL-<Numpad N>, and from there on simply hitting that <Numpad-N> key to get that view :-) ( other assignments are possible, even to joystick buttons... ) It has been of great use in my FF WL 777 flights, specially while flying coupled approaches. The last week was prone in real bad weather si…

Just as many others, these will be released for X-Plane 10!!! The An-24 by Felis ( one of my preferred X-plane add-on designers ) will receive an update and include a 3D version of the KLN 90 already integrated in the 3D cockpit. The other software in the video bellow is a shared cockpit plugin. There are already examples with the Airbus NEO. The future is Soooo Bright :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajScXFoEUr8 And, BTW, the An-24 has an english cockpit version too!!! You do not really have to learn Russian,,, but it's a nice language, specially when spoken by nice Eastern European women :-)

Where do you get accurate ILS localiser information ? The only information I can find is on the local map and that is just the frequency paired to the rounded up/down runway heading. Is there somewhere to get the accurate in game, as opposed to real life, localiser heading to dial in ? Thanks TIM

It seems like it's been very quiet in recent months in relation to the release of airport and scenery add-ons for X-plane 10. Aerosoft have released nothing for X-plane 10 since their Anchorage airport scenery and I haven't noticed any other major releases lately (apart from aircraft). Seems a bit of shame when the X-plane world really needs populating. Truscenery's stuff was brilliant but they too have been pretty quiet. I know they are probably a small team but it's a pity not more is being released regularly like about a year ago by them and other developers. I know that CZST is coming soon but apart from that I haven't heard of anything else in the payware se…

Well, actually in this particular case, I'm loving it :-) As I believe I had reported here a few weeks ago, something very weird was happening to me regarding the installation of the X-Aviation MU2-J, Corvalis C400 and the DC-3. When I got a backup of an old X-Plane 10 installation from another disk, after having corrupted the version I was using, only the MU2-J was installed there. The first thing I installed as soon as the restore operation finished was that nice plugin for injecting NOAA weather into the sim. The pluggin is Python-based. Then I installed back the DC-3, and the problems started. Whenever I installed in a given sequence the DC-3 and the …

Have you guys tried the new "Game Ready" Nvidia drivers. I swear that after installing them I have a much better and more stable sim. I also upgraded to the 10.25 Beta so it could be that too. Either way I was flying around some high res photoscenry in the Carenado Caravan at dusk and for a while I was just transported away, simply amazing. Give it a shot if you have an Nvidia card.

I really hate to have to use tricks / tweaks / cheats, or be tricked / tweaked to make things look like they're ok, when they aren't... I believe I already mentioned once having told Austin that he should enable aircraft designers to hidden the artificial stab tweaks used to overcome any unwanted effects on a given aircraft, like those that I have been using to overcome prop torque effects... He promptly answered with a round - NO WAY!!! I can only understand him, and I think it's a rather honest position. I hate having to use this sort of strategies when designing / fine tuning a model for a flight simulator . It tends to spoil a lot of my joy in using that m…

Having never piloted in RL my theory knowledge is apalling so please don't scoff (too much) at this very basic question, but I've noticed different weather systems and their pressures interfering with the Altimeter and want to know how, when, and by how much I should set it to maintain an accurate reading of my altitude. In layman's terms...

Not being a RW pilot I have a question about the Cessna 172 in X-Plane vs the one in MSFX. The 172 is supposed to be considered a STABLE trainer. I'm just trying to learn to fly a flight sim seriously (want to get into online VATSIM eventually) but what I've found is that the MSFX 172 is stable. A wee bit of trim to maintain level flight and away you go. You can then concentrate on navigation. In X-Plane the 172 seems to behave more like a Pitts. Take you're eyes of the controls for a second and you're into a bank/dive /climb etc. It seems overly sensitive to control movements. My question are : is the X-Plane 172 more representative of how a real 172 flies , …

We all know that under, even mild, crosswind components, aircraft, from small GA to airliners, are a nightmare to taxi or control during takeoff & landing. What's goin on here? I've asked this question to myself several times. The pictures bellow were all taken with a 38 knot crosswind component from 3 o'clock, the first with the default C172, taxiing at around at around 12 knot... Default C172 with collapsed tail, taxiing, wind 38 knot from 3 o'clock... (sideforce vector only at the rear fuselage): I was able to taxi it and take the screenshot, and it didn't slide sideways accross the rw like aircraft do in MSFS with the default sideways friction …

Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a few searches and couldn't find an answer. If I have a 4-engine aircraft and only 2 throttles levers, how do I assign engines 1&2 to one and engines 3&4 to the other. I know that I can assign all 4 engines to one lever but I'd like to have separate control of the right and left power. Thanks.

Guys, I'm talking about the prop effects, and how they affect prop aircraft in X-Plane 10, bringing up some frequent discussions at the forums. I believe that Austin is always commited to turn X-Plane into an even better simulation. The subject of prop effects brought to so many posts, not only here at AVSIM, is just another one that will find it's slot in the complex TODO list that LR manages... In a video Austin recorded a few days ago, and in other experiments he is running using his own aircaft, he his gathering important information to fine tune prop effects for X-Plane. I'm sure whatever will result will only bring us an even better flight simulator!…

Everything can be said about X-Plane, Laminar Research, 3pds, etc... The same happens with FSX, DCS, ELITE... any product in the market, I believe.... But we should be able to notice the differences where they are... And I, althought sometimes very critic about my sims, have to recognize, as I have done on other occasions, that Austin is really the most helpful flight simulator developer I have met so far! A month ago when everybody was complaining about some weird behaviours of the A2A C172 for FSX, the A2A crew used their real aircraft, recorded a couple of movies and tried to explain that what users were finding weird was, after all, very realistic, at leas…
