I came back, I gambled with Prepar3d 2.0, I used FSX with a gigantic amount of addons, and got sick of tweaking. I re-installed X plane after seeing some beautiful screenshots over in the AVSIm screenshots forum, and WOW! I must say, now it looks and flies smooth and GOOD! And the night environment is something else! I have it setup perfectly now! HD mesh V2 Osm europe + Autogen European autogen library. All I'm missing now is some good ATC, AI and some good high detail airports and it will be PERFECT! I think I may invest in skymaxx pro to get some decent clouds. Dear all, I purchased SkyMaxx Pro lastnight and have to say I'm impressed with the difference it makes. Flying through cloud without that 'grey-out blanket' is worth the purchase fee alone. I have noticed a couple of things that seem specific to using real world weather, though. For instance, at EGPF Glasgow this morning the metar is reporting few 008, sct 017 and bkn 023. I noticed that the clouds where intersecting the ground in places rather than staring 800ft above it. Also, whilst flying, there is an incredible delay when weather updates occur, 15 seconds or so. With the default xp10 clouds this delay is usually no longer than a second. Are…

If anybody has it I'd appreciate your thoughts on- flying qualities, sounds, systems, failure modes, documentation, FPS relative to other aircraft on your system, immersion, value for money ETC. For such a significant release in the X-Plane world it's difficult to find a good quality review.

As the title says, they're rendered from external views but not when I look at scenery from the VC. Terrain casts shadows from any view, but not autogen. Is that normal? My shadow setting is global (melt your gpu).

I am recently new to XPlane. I have upgraded my MacBook, and am thinking of taking my spare 120GB SSD out of the old computer and getting an external enclosure for it to put X-Plane 10 on it. Can I just move all the scenery across to the SSD and just install the program into the new computer. Will XP on the new computer detect where the global scenery is kept on the external SSD. I was also disappointed to see the HASP I bought doesn't work with Maverick, is there a work-around for it?

Anyone got this? How completely are the systems modelling like the FBW and MCDU?

Hi everyone, I have never been real content with X-plane's view system. I have different views in which are default ones assigned to my joystick. My issue is, once I select a certain view....say outside the aircraft, if I move that selected view to where I want it with the arrow keys, how do I save it from there so it is always where I would like it? I ask because it doesn't keep it where I want. It always reverts back to default angle when reselecting that view. Thanks in advance. Best, Jeff

Hi folks, My XP10 is having a small fps issue. When I use the A320NEO v2 to sit at the KORD custom scenery and looking out of the virtual cockpit window, the frame rate drops to around 25 (from around 40). However, the GPU load is only at 69%. None of the four CPU cores (HT disabled) usage exceed 65%. Is there a way that X-Plane can fully utilize system resources? I have a i7-3770K overclocked to 4.5Ghz and a Nvidia GTX 660 2GB. RAM is 16GB. OS is Windows 7 Pro x64. Please see the attached screenshots for my settings. Thanks, Zicheng

When attempting to install it will get hung up on a random file (sometimes file #7 in 1,000 files that are being installed, sometimes file #1) and just sit there. I did a google search and didn't find much. Has anyone else had issues installing open scenery? Would appreciate any help. -Phil

Hi guys I had to post this because I just got a new graphics card for my old PC. The upshot was that for the first time I am able to use HDR. Wow I took quite FRS hit but what a difference. HDR is on all the time for me now and even if the FRS get quite low at times, the general smoothness of Xplane makes it quite usable. HDR made it like having a new sim on my machine. You all, with your amazing screenshots as of late, had finally convinced me that I should give the demo another shot. Well that, and the fact that I very recently upgraded my video card to a 780Ti. I had tried out the demo quite a while back with my old ATI card, and had decided at the time that I couldn't get decent enough performance to make me happy. So after going through the rendering options and getting everything so it looks good with high levels of AA, I'm getting about 40 fps. Your hand-hold how to exclude FORESTS from off of the airport property did the trick! Thank you...and here are three pics after the wood cutters cleared out... Where my business-class is sitting, there were trees sprouted out of the concrete before you helped me cut 'em down...lol. My specs are: 4770k @ 4.8 GHz ATI 7970 512 GB SSD In the demo (defualt 747 with broken clouds) I'm running around 27-30 fps. is this good?

Parks, Plaza’s & Parking Lots is just that a collection of mostly non buildings to work with the “Plausible World”. I have X-Plane 10 and a fast i7 4770K rig with 16GB RAM and two video cards. I run FSX/Prepar3D/X-Plane on a large color monitor which is driven by an NVIDIA GTX 780. I have two high res monochrome monitors running off of an NVIDIA Quadro FX card and I use those only for work (Radiology), not for flying. I have the two monochrome monitors off (the windows key + P ---> choose computer only) but when I run X-Plane 10 it chooses the Quadro FX driver for rendering and displays a VERY slow FPS on my main color screen. How can I force X-Plane to choose the correct card (the GTX 780) for rendering? Thanks, Scott

For those wondering if there is much 'out there' upon the Net to download and populate within XPX:25, this is my scenery pak.cfg file to date. If you see something that you don't have, or would want as well, just make note of the name of the folder and/or airport and seek it out on the Net. Not all are at Xplane.org. Hi, Because I have got questions every now or then abut "whats the difference between default and HD", I have started a new album in my Picasa collection. This time its all about comparing: default GlobalScenery vs. HD Mesh Scenery v2 I used my little trick to capture each scene with exactly the same camera perspective (so you can easily flip back and forth between the pictures and see what happens). I have already added a few regions like, Norway Alps Canada, BC (man was I impressed by the extreme differences there ... its an entirely new feeling ... really) ... and will continue to add a few over the coming days (all depending on my time). I have been having some issue's with my Dc-3, I installed the newest update from Cameron's page and since then I have no air speed indicator, no altimeter, no turn indicator, no fuel gauge, by this I mean they are there but do not function at all. Also I have no yoke animation and very limited buttons and switches inside the cockpit. I bought the plane back in April and have rarely flown it (mostly because I suck at it ) and I don't recall how much function the cockpit actually had. Anytime I use HDR I'm seeing these awful jaggies. I only use FXAA in-game (any more kills fps). Anyone had success with Nvidia Inspector?

Took off 15 minutes ago, from Long Beach, headed for San Diego....good weather, but a little light chop... I like how Xplane handles the colors, from lush (depends of course on location...to a more dryer brush/arid desert texture. Southern California certainly has that!

I have a few custom install airports that have trees that are growing out of the concrete areas of the airport. They were for XP9 and higher. Do I have to live with this, or could it perhaps be my layering of them over forested OSM data? If there is a way to clean that up, that would be appreciated. This is only a few, but I would think that I could see the exclusion work at those airports. Has this been observed by anybody else? If so, what did you do to 'cut them down', lol.....
