  1. Started by Mark_A,

I've found running XP10 rendering in non-HDR mode works best for both performance and visuals. When in non-HDR mode what's the general consensus with the AA setting? Are you running 2X, 4X, 8X? Currently I'm at 4X (GTX 680). What bugs me is the runway distance markers (if that's what they are) flickering on final approach - takes away from the otherwise great unmatched night visuals. Thanks

I've looked up "compression", "speed", and "acceleration" in the manual which ships with the demonstration, but I have found nothing to answer this question:Does XP10 have any semblance of time compression to shorten up long trips? What are the limitations of it (with or without an autopilot, max compression rate, etc. etc.)Thanks kindly,-Greg

Picked this up today, from my Van's RV builders forum. First test flight of an RV8. The RV8 is a two seat tandum semi-aerobatic, high performance aircraft. "Today 11:34 UTC I got airborne after 1 year and 2 month of building. The first flight took 20 minutes over the airfield and was smooth and without any stress moments. It flies like on rails..." Disclosure: No bribes, and I don't know the person...

Hi there! A few days ago, I installed XPX on a dedicated newly installed second SSD. I directly bought and installed Urban Maxx, SkyMaxx Pro, the Carenado B58 and FlyJSIM's fantastic 727 afterwards. Setup and configuration worked flawlessly and like a breeze. I might not have the definitive optimum with my current settings but XPX looks really impressive with its dense buildings and trees and with its always sharp ground textures. My main sim is still FSX, I love flying the NGX or the MD11 with FS2Crew, RC4 and MCE for the voice interaction. But I love the look and feel of X-Plane 10: Yesterday, I performed two cargo flights in the 727F, from EDDK to EDDP and back. …

I am trying to download photosceneries from simHeaven and a lot of them I get a "500- Internal server error". I've tried downloading New York, Miami, Portland and many more, but San Francisco and Singapore work. Is this a known issue?

  7. Started by HiFlyer,

So. I saw a picture on the P3d forum About the volumetric fog, accompanied by a picture of a large city's skyscrapers just peeking above a layer of low hanging fog. Could it be repeated in X-plane? It seemed it might be simple, but in actuality the cloud top apparently cannot be lower than 2k feet. There is probably some tricky way to overcome that, but I was not able to do it. Here is what I could do, but I wonder if anyone could match that picture currently, in X-plane.........

  8. Please read Tom's Alert regarding bargain announcements or references to it here. That forum has it's own rules stated here. Of course, we are free to start a topic showing the others some great add-on we have just added to our sim, including some nice shots and comments like those that Ses knows better than no one to create, and, at the same time leave at the Bargain Hunter's Shack a post announcing where it was available from as a bargain.

  11. The C377 SkyMaster. What a plane! What a cockpit (beautiful!!!), and one of the best engine recordings ever! Those push-pull props will bite your head off! )) Best to hear them through good quality headphones, that can give a good lower base (rumble into your jawbone! Fabulous...way to go, Carenado...way to go.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This plane looks good across XPX, FSX, and FS9. Again..what a great plane for un-obstructiveness of view..and a powerful performance envelope...that is felt across all platform renditions. Hurry...the Carenado sale ends today...!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------…

  12. I'm trying to maintain hope. Please keep my hopes alive! It's quite difficult to be a flight sim geek and NOT purchase a new product, but that is the position I find myself in right now.First impressions are always important, and I regretfully report that my first impressions of the XP10 demonstration, as well as the initial customer reports from the first shipping copies have me worried.I've made several posts here on AVSIM over the past few days about the scenery generation engine in XP10, so I'll try to be brief with my summary of concerns. The plausible world concept seems to work great in rural settings, but towns and cities are challenged. Urban areas look like larg…

  13. A Grumman Traveler AA-5 for X-Plane 10! How this particular aircraft is tied to my pilot wannabe dreams is dramatic, so to say. When I was 13 I got into one of this aircraft for a short flight one of these trainers at LPCS ( Cascais airfield, nearby Lisbon ). The pilot gave me a copy of the POH after the flight, which I still keep, and I dreamed about starting my instruction, 3 years after, on that same aircarft. Well, somehow, each time I get closer to the materealization of my aviation dreams, Portugal enters a recession phase, and, around the early 80s we had a visit from the FMI, and Portugal lived a crisis similar to the one we're traversing right now... The…

Guys, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, to you and all of your beloved family, lovers and friends! Health! Love and Friendship! Good marks at school and at work, if that's the case.., and feeling great at always trying to do and give your best! A wonderful time for all of those already enjoying what comes after the times of school and work... From a simplistic simmer perspective, I wish that you can find in this activity lot's of joy, and particularly here at the AVSIM X-Plane forums, that this great simulator continues to give us the moments of satisfaction we all have when we see it growing into an even better, more solid and fully functional flight simul…

  16. Started by jcomm,

You're not... there's at least one more guy there - me :-)!!!! Nothing ( that I own, and that includes FF 777, NEO A320 and Peter's A380 only ) in X-Plane comes close to the best add-ons for FSX in terms of depth of systems simulation and overall complexity put into models like those by PMDG, Majestic or even A2A and Aerosoft. I believe the iXEG 737 can really revert this scenario. I still hope that 10.30 will also help to bring X-Plane 10 more on pair with the overall coverage that FSX and P3D provide for Civil Flight Simulation, which, IMO, is still ahead of X-Plane's offer.

I am currently an FS9 user and am considering giving Xplane 10 a go. I run dual monitors and export the gauges to the second monitor which is enclosed in a homebuilt cockpit.....so I'm wondering how Xplane handles exporting gauges and arranging custom layouts of 2d panels. Here are a couple of shots which demonstrates what I would need to get the second monitor to do.........So my question is would this be fairly easy to do with Xplane 10? Cheers Romflyer

Was having a read of Ben's blog just now and this caught my eye: "** If you really want to get tweaky, most of the sub-effects within HDR mode can be accessed by settings.txt. But if you edit settings.txt and your computer transforms into an alien cyborg and destroys humanity, don’t hold me responsible." I wouldn't have the first clue about what I was doing to try tweaking but it's interesting to see it can be done, and makes me wonder if we can get some performance gains out of it. Anybody else given / want to give it a go?

The other day I did a flight from KSTL to KORD using FF757 and once I got about 10 miles from KORD my FPS dropped form a rocksteady 30fps to 4fps. I thought well it must be another bad Airport I downloaded as I had one Airport who for some reason adds 1.5GB to my VRAM usage. So I deleted my KORD airport and placed my plane on the runway and still only could get about 5 fps. Long story short I added the new HD Mesh V2 for the region, but I still had Simheaven's OSM-North America in my custom scenery and for some reason they would'nt play nice together for that one particular area. Removed OSM-North America and fps went back to 30.
