Good morrow, noon or night to you all, I have just spent a goodly amount of time looking for anything significant regarding the expected arrival on sale of the Occulus Rift. Nothing found but that could be partly explained by the expression "man look" Our female flyers will know exactly what that means. I note with some trepidation, however, that XPlane10 is one of the few flight explained sims that this is publicly compatible with, although I would assume P3D will be working with reckless abandon and great alacrity to accommodate it. I have had Xplane10 for some time but, despite installing it and having a good look, have never flown with it. That is mainly bec…

On the weekend I had a Comcast modem changed out- it serves my internet wireless router (an Apple AirPort Extreme), which I also needed to reset due to the different configuration of the replacement modem. I'm finding now that downloading real weather doesn't seem to work. Is there something else that I need to do to XP? (If it's looking for a specific IP address for the router, that may have changed- but I'm unsure as to whether that matters to XP). Thanks, Bruce. PS: the answer may be here : http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/106871-real-weather-isnt-downloading/ I see that the NOAA server has changed.

What are the major differences between the two products? I believe that RWC places the clouds in the sim. Does FSGRW place clouds or does it just feed weather and XP places the clouds based on FSGRW data? If no, is this why I see some vids where both FSGRW and RWC are used together? Does FSGRW allow static or user created controlled weather (not live feeds).

I am new to X-Plane but have mightily challenged the learning curve. My son is far away. I am a FAA/CFII and would like to get him started. I intuit that X-Plane lets 1 computer use the IOS suite on 2 monitors, or if 2 computers are physically in the same room, they can split the features on 2 machines connected to the same Wifi Network. Does anybody know if a Windows VPN would allow 2 physically remote machines ....( each with a paid for X-Plane license - each running an X-Plane 10.45 version of the software )... to operate the suite of features found within the Student/IOS module of X-Plane? Maybe it's not a VPN...I have no real idea what the possible a…

A330 out of 22R KJFK over NY Bay this morning en route to KLAX (Verrazano Bridge, Brooklyn and Downtown Manhattan). Other than the Flatlands of Brooklyn (which is a real neighborhood) this departure scenery is very realistic! Wing view. Sorry about stats in the upper left - still testing my FPS...

After the interruption of the normal service of METAR text-based dissemination by NOAA, some flight simulators and applications using that source have seen their real world METAR data stopping to work. During the last two weeks the original URL has been up and down, and it appears that now only the alternate site is really working. There are already at least two threads on this subject here at AVSIM and at X-Pilot. Yesterday I had some time to test XP10 latest 10.50r2, and indeed when real world weather and winds aloft are enabled the last downloaded METAR is from a few days ago, when the original service was shutdown again. I will try to open a ticket with LR…

Hi all, Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but, new to x-plane here.. Changing "Multi-display/mixed GPU acceleration" to "Single display performance mode" provided an great frame rate boost, 50% or so. Noted this on a GTX970 and a new 1070

I've been eagerly awaiting this even more than the MD80. I really enjoy the C210 with REP, but I like the Bonanza much better! I don't have the F33 ver yet, but I am planning on picking it up this weekend when I have time. Rob http://www.simcoders.com/reality-expansion-pack/carenado-bonanza-f33a/

The new autogen looks great for cities like New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, However, the Miami coastline looks empty; there should be many buildings along the coast. Up through Ft. Lauderdale etc., there are very few buildings along the coast. Has anyone else noticed this? I am running extreme objects.

Can someone confirm that the latest and greatest SMP v3 draws clouds out to the horizon? I had an earlier version of SMP that basically showed (like the default clouds) a ring of clouds around my plane. I am not looking to depict real weather (or even heavy cloud coverage), i just want some convincing light clouds that does not look like a ring around my plane.

I've had a few advert emails this morning from the ORBX forum regarding their Germany region. The shots are just incredible, e.g. http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/120046-germany-north-around-edlt/ I wish someone would put this amount of work into the X-Plane scenery for Europe (Even my W2XP with photoscenery fails in comparison). So many things tempting me back into P3D (Especially the recent release of Narvik) :-).

Hi all, I know one of the most immersion breaking things in XP10 for me is to taxi around empty airports, especially when I know how busy places like Heathrow and Gatwick are in real life. We all know there are some shortcomings in the XP10 AI, however there is a fairly simple process which lets you add a good amount of AI with realistic liveries. I'll break it down into a step by step process which shouldn't take you much more than 15 minutes! Step one: (and with huge thanks to Morten for supplying the aircraft to the community) Locate the download packs for AI aircraft, they can be found at the following link. Download as many as you want. There's not much of a rea…

Hey All, A while ago I posted my optimism for the X-Plane community with the amazing advancements you have seen in recent years with addon's and 3pd's supporting the platform. I have been contemplating giving it a go over the last few months, but after seeing the new developments at FSCon '16, I saw a bunch of improvements (namely the GUI and control menu) that gave me a moment of pause. I dont know if you all know of when it will be coming, but from the looks of it and the speed at which LR works, I would expect the new sim to come in months, not years. So on to my question, Do you all think it would be worth it just to wait it out? Does LR usually offer an upgrade …

Hello guys, I've just finished the Angle of Attack pro course and feel like I'm ready to move onto vatsim now. The problem is I want to fly IFR departures but the default gps isn't departure compatible. Is there a way to do this with a simple aircraft like the sky labs Cessna or a REP bonanza, or should I just use the IXEG 73 or ff76 as they handle sids? Can I just tell ATC that I don't have departure gps?

It's really annoying when flying an airliner and having all the city lights pop in 10 miles away,it's extremely unrealistic since there are no glow in the dark ground textures like in FSX. I've seen many posts about it and LR even commented saying they know about it but there are no plans to increase the distance in the near future..... Considering all they add is it really that hard for them to change this for vast inprovement in realism in the one place XPLANE really shines? This is more of a rant than anything, but yea maybe we should petition them or somthing so they know the community wants it,not just isolated folks who email them about it. I can understand them be…
