Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

Went through Avworld on my way home from vacation today and bought the Saitek Pro Flight because it was 40% off! So far I like it. I'm not sure how to calibrate the prop and mixture control though. Can someone help me out? Thanks edit: SOLVED. I figured it out through settings > controls.

Just bought the Saitek combat pedals and am impressed so far. However, during my last 2 flight the pedals stopped working sometime during the flight. Didn't realize it until I landed and could not steer or brake. Anybody have any thoughts? I've got all of my controls calibrated through FSUIPC. Thanks I did notice when I exited FSX that the little pedal icon on the task bar had disappeared.

  3. I am back in FSX from MS Flight. I am now taking my PPL and need FSX to help me practice real flying. I just spent $200 to get GEX NA, UTX USA and REX Essential... and 3 Carenado GA trainers. FSX is much better now. I bought my CH pedals to use in MS Flight... and I had non-linear response options for rudder control that made the pedals much more like real pedals in a real plane. Now in FSX those CH pedals are way too sensitive to the point that I almost can't use them. The plane is almost uncontrollable down the runway because the rudder moves way to much with a slight application of rudder. FSX has a "sensitivity option" but that just makes the control slow to…

  5. hi I have 3 saitek throttle quadrants controlled through FSUIPC. Everything works fine except that sometimes when replug them, the quadrant assignements are mixed up. Eventually by plugging/unplugging them I manage to have the correct assignements but by sheer luck. How can I have the correct assignements? Thank you.

  6. I currently own a Saitek X52 but the truth is that I am not happy with it, and i constantly find myself back to my old Sidewinder. The Saitek yoke is good for modding and the occasional serious flight but not so great for everyday flying. This time I think that I would like to try a force feedback controller since I've never had one, and perhaps some rudder pedals to finally be able to taxi in a straight line. I am considering getting either the G940 system or a used MS sidewinder FFB2 with either CH or Saitek pedals Could someone comment on these two controllers? Is the FSForce addon realistic and compatible with all addon planes? Is the G940 worth the money? How …

  7. Hello Flightsimmers! I am planning to build a Boeing 737 NG overhead panel and use it with the PMDG NGX and FSUIPC. I want to use the Arcaze USB-Interface with knobs, switches, etc. I am planning to use a wooden plate, glue a 1:1 overhead photo on it and mount the switches to the corresponding places. 1. Question: Has somebody made any experiences with the Arcaze USB-Interface? 2. Question: How can I get the corresponding lights and displays to work? Cheers

So am I just missing out w/o track IR and the NGX? Is it worth 150 bucks? I am tempted but what is the diff between ir5 and the older 4. And how many use it here? Thanks!

To any Goflight module owners : what is your general verdict about the GF module(s) that you own ? After clicking the GF advert that was tantalizingly winking at me here i have become seriously interested in this little gadget : (talking about tantalizing... ) What would your advice be ? Go ahead or stay in bed ??... ( I run FS9 and FSX on W7/64 and would prefer to use it with FS9 ) Thanks a lot for any advice you could possibly give me ! Cheers, Jan

Im not surprised anymore when weird things happens after having played the MSFS-range of products for almost two decades now.. After a couple of weeks abscense from flying, i jumped right into the Carenado F33A, cranked up the engine and took off.. And as I was about to do a turn, I noticed the input response was more similar to a fully loaded DC-8... I looked at the yoke in the VC, and shure enough, it was moving veeery slowly? What could that possibly be? Ive tried recalibrating, playing with sensitivity and null-zones... No luck so far.. Anyone got a clue? Thanks in advance

  12. Been using a cheap Logitech Attack 3 for over half a decade. Finally ready to go to something different. I don't need a ton of featuers or buttons. Right now I only map my flaps in/out, brakes, speedbrake, and speedbrake arm to the joystick + it has a throttle control. Only real concern is that whatever I get needs to have a way to control the rudder, through a twist grip, or whatever. More and more I've found myself struggling to keep the centerline in weather and unable to really fly props because controlling the rudder with the keyboard is just impossible.

Hello, My Cybrog X has been used for 2 years, and now it's friction is very large. It's even hard to use it with one hand without another hand pressing the Cybrog on my desk, otherwise it would flip over. Any idea how to make it smoother? Thank you.

  14. I was fed up with my Saitek Throttle spikes. Despite all the good suggestions about cleaning the pots, I never could rely on a smooth thottle axis. I am an electronics guy. I used the best of contact cleaners, took thepots apart and cleaned the actual carbon disk. All too temporary fixes! Eventually, one bad axis would affect the other two. I decided to look closely at the Aviator AV8R I had in my unused joystick pile. With this stick, I saw everything I need: throttle axis and many, many programmable buttons as well as variable pots, including a "twist" rudder pot. Unfortunately, the joystick itself interfered with easy access to the throttles and gets in the way of p…

  15. Finally replacing old CH Pedals with gameport interface but run through a gameport to USB converter. Can't have toe brakes on that setup. Plugged in a new USB set of CH pedals and used Control Manager 4.52. The program recognizes the pedals in the screen where you select the yoke or the pedals. So I went to calibration after selecting the pedals. There the calibration screen shows no change when moving the pedals nor does anything show in the axis numbers on the right side. I tried the Map thing but no luck there either after assigning the remaining axis V to pedals. Even tried Slider 0 & 1.. Sort of dumbfounded... CH Yoke Pedals, Windows7 64bit

  16. Hi, all. I'm thinking about building a hardcore home flight sim environment with off-the-shelf commercial components. I've got a budget limit of $30k, and want your opinions about what/where to shop for to get the most realistic civil flight simulation experience at home from the money available. I have had a few joy rides on commericial fixed base and full motion training simulators but really don't have any good idea how to build one for myself. A preliminary idea is to build around a top-notch computer that can run FSX/Prepar3D+PMDG737+ground scenery addon at close to max visual setting, multiple large size monitors, a TrackIR, replica 737 yoke, rudder and throttle…

  18. Not 100% sure if this should be in main forum, but since it's at least related to hardware I'll start here. I want to swap between 2 versions of fsx.cfg, so I can use different controller setups (e.g. different rudder sensitivities/trim setups). I have 2 .cfg files in my FSX folder, and each references a different control.xml file. But I use FPS Limiter, with a batch file like this: "start D:"\FSX\FPS_Limiter_0.2\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "D:\FSX\fsx.exe net stop uxsms net start uxsms" Which works fine, until I want to add the /CFG: switch to the fsx.exe call. I have tried this: "start D:"\FSX\FPS_Limiter_0.2\"FPS_Limiter.exe …

So, a few people have asked about my home made floor mounted joystick. I have done a heap of research and came up with my own design as a combination of others that i have seen on the net. Materials used: 1X logitech Attack 3 joystick 4.2m length of 30x30mm pine 70mm long screws 3mm x 35mm aluminium flat bar 1.8m long 6mm thick bolts and nuts 12mm dia curtain rod 1m length of 6 strand fine cable. 1x small plastic funnel Electrical tape and soldering iron with solder I think the pics attach show how it was made. If there are any questions, let me know Elias.

  20. Hi all, I have the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 but it's not compatible with Windows 7, 64 bit. Windows 7 will install the drivers but it doesn't install the programmable features that's available on my Sidewinder so that I can program my Sidewinder for different aircraft functions, such as TO/GA, Auto-Pilot Disconnect, and Auto-Throttle Disconnect. Some of these actions are available in FSX but when I program them to my Sidewinder, the actions still do not work when I press a button on the Sidewinder. The other problem is that not all of these actions are available in FSX nor are they all available in the PMGD menu. Do I have to buy another joystick with the pr…

I am looking into getting a new joystick and I have pretty much narrowed it down to 2. I have been looking at pics and reviews and the consensus is that the Pro is of a much better build. Is the $50 price jump justifiable for the increase in quality. The Screen on the pro doesn't really interest me. Its time to retire the Logitech Attack. If you can help me find better prices than these please tell. http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Flight-Control-System/dp/B00030GSJY http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-X52-Flight-System-Controller/dp/B000LQ4HTS/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1341400873&sr=1-2&keywords=X52

  22. I usually fly with a CH yoke or an X52 stick on two different systems. I need to combine all this to one system. So I'd have an X52, Ch yoke, CH Throttle quadrant and CH rudders attached to a single system. All controllers would be connected and I'd use the CH Yoke with the TQ and rudders or the X52 with the TQ (maybe) and rudders. I'm thinking that if I assign specific profiles with FSUIPC I could specify the controller for each aircraft BUT would the non used controller cause conflict just by being connected? Thanx, Vic

I hope you can help me to solve this problem. I'm building an Airbus throttle quadrant to use with Wilco Airbus on Fs9. I've got Fsuipc registered, but I can't make reverse works. I try with the Fsuipc joystick calibration, setting the reverse, idle and max position but the thrust goes only from idle to max. With default aircraft it works... Here a photo of the tq:
