Currently I have got a GeForce 2 MM/MX 400 - not bad - but I would like to have a better one. So which one should I buy next? A GeForce 4 or an ATI Radeon 7500 or better ? :-zhelp

I can't display the main section of the AVSIM home page. The top frame is ok where the adverts are and the various selections - forum, library, etc. Going to ANY other section of AVSIM is ALL OK, only the first page gives me "Page Cannot Be Displayed" in the area where the news items appear beneath the top frame..I have Windows XP which I just reinstalled to no avail. 1ghz 524mb. Cable modem. Every other site I try works ok. Thought it was Java but FSGenesis, which uses Java, works ok.Prior to re-install I had SP1 for XP installed.Dick

Not sure where to post this, although it relates to MSFS it is more a 'systems' question and is not h/w related so sorry if I should have posted in 'General' forum.A few days ago I ran the PSS loadedit utility and got an ActiveX error, I was annoyed and thought that utility was acting up again.However a couple of days later I ran the SID/STAR copying utility for the 767PIC aircraft and got the same msg so I figure the problem is system wide.The error is 'Error 429. ActiveX cannot create the object'Can anyone suggest which file may have gone missing or become corrupted?The only change I can think of making since everything worked OK was the deinstalation of the Multiplayer…

In the spirit of "Minimum requirements"P4 2.2 Northwood.XP, fresh install, twice.1GB.Twin HD's. 80 & 40.Did this to fix the screensaver. Now, since then, FS always has stutter, and I see it constantly. Not like a "jerk" (HD) but a "pulse" (virtual jerk). Bummer.Any ideas are valued. While cleaning up the house the other day I stumbled upon a box of joysticks and related items. Even though this stuff is all gameport, I thought I might give the Thrustmaster stuff (F-16 FLCS and WCS Mk II) a second chance. The problem is, all of the software I have for this stuff is for DOS. I'm running Windows 2000, and it doesn't care for the DOS programs. I there any simple way to program this stuff in Win2K for use in FS2002?Thanks!

Hey everyone,I'm still using a TNT2 based video card on my Dell and would like to go up to something newer. Primarily I'm trying to increase graphics quality, not FPS (would need a new processor to do that). I've pretty much decided on a GeForce 4 Ti4200 64mb (don't want to spend over $150 just so my airplanes look better). My question is what kind of performance (graphics quality) increases can I expect with this jump? I don't want to upgrade and then find out that there really isn't that much of a difference. I've seen screenshots floating around that look amazing (very smooth, reflections, etc), nothing like what I currently get (jagged edges, no reflections, etc)…

From where I can start the creative Mixer with windows XP?!?!....I can't find on my pc...I tryer to reinstall all software and only the mixer, but In the start menu there insn't...If I select "Change Mixer option" in the taskbar doesn't appeare....all other software works correctly. Hi folks,i need help :) Just found a new use for my old 17" monitor, attached it to a GeForce4 TI4200 and enabled nView. So far everything worked fine, the desktop is enlarged across screens, and other directx games display well @85Hz on the primary display (a 19"). The only exception is our beloved FS2k2!!!! If I disable nView, FS boots up into an acceptable 1024x768 @85Hz, of course lacking the second display. Bit if I use the "enlarge across screens" feature, I only get aroud 60Hz on the primary display. Not being very computer savy, I was wondering what settings you are running with the Radeon 9700 card. Such as in the 3D mode the anti-aliasing, antisotropic filtering, texture preference, mipmap detail level, and the wait for verticle sync-true form. also the open GL, whatever that is. I have a problem with my CH Pro Pedals. If I depress the right pedal and then release it to center it comes back to center detent, but on the callibration screen it just goes 2/3 way. So, physically it centers, but it is not represented in the software rendition, if you will. If I then depress left pedal slightly and go back to center it centers right on the screen as well. So, that's just a right pedal problem. It is fairly new problem, as I noticed severe right turning tendency during take-off. I currently have 23.11 installed for my GeForce 3 Ti200 / 64M card (using WinXP). I note at guru3d.com that the latest appear to be 41.03. Before I go to the trouble of changing drivers, can anyone confirm that it's worth the change up to new drivers for the G3? I'm in the market for a GeForce4 4200 videocard, but I have no idea which make to buy. I want the 128 MB version, which seems to retail for about $150 regardless of manufacturer. But all the manufacturers I used to be familiar with are pretty much gone. Like Diamond (hey, I'm old), and even VisionTek seems to have gone under. The best-known to me now are Gainward, Chaintech, and Leadtek. I lean toward the Gainward, but I found a customer review that says it "doesn't work with a VIA KT133 mobo". Now, my mobo is a VIA KT266A version (a Soyo Dragon Plus), but it was still enough to lodge worry in me. And I have read some negative things about Chaintech and Leadtek.Any advice…

I'm planning on going the multiple monitor way, to begin with, and I was wondering what you guys could recommend?I'l be using it to dock the Overheads from the 767PIC, PSS birds and others, as well as 2 others for FMC/Throttle windows and Main panel, leaving my main one for the straight ahead view. I have 3 PCI slots available, as well as one heck of a cool case (I ran a CPU heater program the other day, and at full load, the temperature only climbed some 4-5 degrees centigrade!)I have a few choices, and as they all seem reasonable cheap, I might as well go for that instead of buying new PC's, which I can't afford!
