I upgraded my operating system from W98 to W2000 pro. Before that, I had uninstalled FS2000 and all its associated software and hardware.I reinstalled FS2000 in the W2000 pro. When trying to reinstall the sidewinder force feedback pro joystick, I got an error message that my present system does not recognize sidewinder, bla, bla.Called my local MS office for support. They gave me an URL where I can download an update:http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/sidewind...wnloads/302.asp. However , the page indicates only a 3.0 version for windows 95 or 98, not 2000. So here I am, stuck with a non-working joystick, flying with the damn keyboard!Anybody know what the problem is?!Eyt…

Hi all,I just received my new MS Sidewinder FF2 joystick; I ran the install program on the CD, which went fine, but when I plugged the joystick into the USB port, the computer is not able to find the drivers for it. I tried to browse folders and direct it to the FF2 folder, but to no avail. I looked everywhere for the drivers, and I think I found them, but my computer won't recognise them. Then, when I add the joystick in the Game Controllers window, under "status" it says "not connected". I looked in Device manager and it says there are no drivers installed for the joystick.I've tried just about everything, and it still won't work! I'm desperate...I've been deprived of se…

I've been a flight simmer for a while now, but one thing has *always* frustrated me... It's very hard to fly staring out of a cockpit represented by a 21" monitor.I've tried the FS2002 trick of networking several computers together (with the monitors next to one another) and achieved slightly better realism (no up and down movement possible there). I've tried the VR head tracker, which I found awkward. My question is... Has anyone out there tried a "real" (by real, I mean ~$1000) VR goggle system with any commerically available flight sim - i.e. Fly! FS2002, X-Plane, etc? THere seems to be so little information on the web about people who have really tried it.I find my…

I don't know if I'm the only one, but I've been experiencing problems of late. I haven't upgraded my system and have been operatinng FS2002 for 10 months without any problems whatsoever till now. Sometimes I get a blue screen error and have to restart my computer using reset ( cold boot). But sometimes I get dll errors ranging from terrain.dll, ai_driver.dll to G2d.dll and G3d.dll. I use a PixelView Geforce2 MX/MX400 AGP card. The only thing i upgraded was ram from 128 to 256 mbs. I have both win98 and xp installed and the problem is same on both OS. I downloaded the latest drivers of my Video card but to no avail. Could it be due to my video card, sound card or ram? I wo…

My PC (spec below) had a simple on-board video chipset so I addeda Creative PCI GeForce2MX video card to drive my monitor in 3Dfor FS2002 - an excellent, cost-effective upgrade.I'd now like to connect little old monitor to the motherboard videoport and use it to view utility programs like, say, FSNavigator whilstviewing FS2002 on the main monitor. From searching this forum it think that I might be able to do this but I can't work out the details of how to. Does this sound feasible? If so, how do I configure it and get FS2002 on my main monitor andother application windows on the secondary monitor?I'm running Windows Me and have tried playing with the settings forDisplay in …

Greetings,I posted this question a little while ago, but unfortunately no one was able to solve my problem at the time, so I post it again in the hopes that since that time someone else may have experienced the same problem and found a solution.Every time I return to FS after a task switch, all clouds lose thier shape and appear as boxes, and all external aircraft lights aswell as several other 'effects' appear to have black boxes around them (in place of the glow-effect). When using FS together with a program such as SquawkBox that necessitates task switches, this can get extremely frustrating. The only way I have found to recover from this after a task switch is to cycl…

I'm wanting to add more RAM, but I'm not sure what I'm doing. I've just had a look inside my system to see what type of RAM it takes, but the chips didn't have anything on them apart from Samsung. There were 4 slots - 2 with the 128Mbs sticks, but the other 2 had smaller sticks in (same length, but not as high). What are these? are these something I can remove to add more RAM sticks?Cheers

I have XP and am running 520MB of PC2100. When running FS2002 for a long time (in this case, a flight of 4 hours done over about 8 hours, with various pauses), I sometimes find that I almost simultaneously can't switch views, ATC stutters, and I get the shut-down screen. I usually fly PIC, which I know is a resource hog in itself. Whether ATC "talking" is the trigger in this issue, or maybe that's just coinciding with the time that FS2002 has been running. Could this be an issue of too less memory?Thanks-System:P1.8G Northwood256 PC2100ABit BD7AGeForce 3WinXPBruce.

Howide,Got a small problem getting RW working in conjuction with a SB Audigy sound card. Symptoms are, with the headset plugged into the front panel, you can hear yourself speak, but when RW config is installed, no bounce back of your own voice when you run the mike test. kinda hard to really explain in too much detail as its not actually me with the problem, but a friend of mine. Does this problem ring a bell with anyone who might have experience it?http://www.avsim.com/vfr_center/avsim_sig.jpg

Hello,My configuration is a XP1800, 512 SDRAM + GF2 MX 32 Mo. Perhaps I'm wrong but I feel that my CPU performances are actually limited by my video card. For example I've noticed loading time is quite long since I've installed Landclass Europe pack scenery. Despite using twikers, image is still a little blurry...Could you tell how work these cards with FS2K2 ? As GF4TI is more expansive than a GF4 MX 440, does it worth ?Thanks.Thama

Dear friends flight simmers,I hope this is not off topic, and if so, please bear with me.I have the following system specs:P!!! 933 MHz384 MB SD-RAM PC-133 MHzATI Radeon 7200HD 20 GBWin XP ProMy performance in FS 2002 with all maxed out is fairly poor, I am at an average of 4-8 fps on ground, at any airport in the sim. In the air, I max 15 fps. Something is wrong and anyways I decided to upgrade my system, also in preparation for the much awated FS 2004, available next fall. Here is what I am looking at:Intel P4 2 GHz256 DD-RAM PC-333 MHz80 GB HDSound good? Now the graphic card is a different story. I want to buy a fairly average graphic card and replace it next year for …

How does anyone here deal with this? Short of changing e-mail addresses, are there any utilities that really work to deal with this? I've tried unsubcribing, but that just appears to aggrevate the frequency of the spam.Thanks,Bruce.

Ok, here's my specs:1.7Ghz Pentium 4Win XP256 megs ram55 Gb HD, 30.5 gigs free spaceI've just installed a new Gainward GF4 Powerpack Pro/450 TV to replace my old GF2 MX. Now, FS seems a bit unstable (tends to crash when I change planes), reflections and antialiasing don't work (they worked before), and when I turn OFF 3D acceleration, FS comes up with a dialog saying that it's gone into safe mode because my computer is currently unable to use 3D acceleration. I'm using the standard Gainward drivers that came with the card.

Now I also read here the other day that it was going to be delayed (sound familiar?).What I wanted to know, is there any info about it out there at all? Like is it going to be a 4 engine quad? Will it have flaps and spoilers, fuel switches, etc.?If anyone has any info to share?CF-AOA
