Hello everyone,I asked this in the general discussion forum too because it seems this forum is less frequented. However, here's my deal:I'm trying to set my Dad's computer up with FS2002, but he's using an all-in-wonder Radeon 8500 (128M) which is mostly for video editing. . .anyway, FS doesn't look bad except that the panel themselves seem to go out of focus and the mouse leaves trails. Then after a second or so the panel snaps back to a sharp image and then the process repeats. Anyone know what to do to fix this? Thx!-drewdad's system:WinXP ProIntel i850 w P4 1.71024M PC800Radeon 8500 All in wonderand WAY too much junk running in the background :-lol :-hah

Hello, all.First post here on Avsim, never really checked out the forums at all, but glad I have now :)I'm about to get a Microsoft Force Feeback 2 to replace my (totally unsuitable & malfunctioning) Logitech Wingman Extreme stick. I'm looking forward to more precision, but also licking my lips at the prospect of the FF giving me a better sensation of realism when taxiing & landing etc.I've only briefly tried the MSFF2 stick on a friends machine, but never got time to get the feel of it. Does the feedback function provide gentle resistance when pulling back on the stick, or is it more of a "rumble pack" effect (does any of this make sense? ;) )I've flown MSFS for …

I am very very confused.A few weeks ago I got my hands on an old Gateway with the following sepcs:450mhz128megs RAM20gig HD3Dfx Voodoo BansheeI know, hardly a high performance system, but it was free amd I figured it would be better then continuing to use my IBM Thinkpad for FS2002 (it works, but it's not pretty).Well FS2002 runs fine (about 16fps with no ATC and medium settings on just about everything).Last night though, I decided to go out and grab a new graphics card (hoping to increase the FPS to 20-25). I ended up with a GeForce4 Ti 4200 w/ 64megs of RAM.Now after installing it, DirectX 8.1, and the latest drivers, I'm only getting 8-12 FPS with the same settings.C…

When I built my computer, the ABit BD7II mainboard did not have drivers for USB 2.0. ABit now do so, but require as well a BIOS flash to a higher rev. I note that on their site there is a recommendation to re-install Windows too (I have XP), as a result of the BIOS upgrade.I think I'll try not re-installing the OS first :), anyone ever had to do that?. I've flashed BIOS before and never had to. However, my question is regarding the drivers the sound chip and NIC, both imbedded; and the Intel drivers I have also installed. Should I need to consider re-installing these? There's not mention on the ABit site about them. Then again, I've never before had imbedded hardware…

The Detonator drivers I am using are the latest from the nVidia site. After uninstalling the GeForce2 and close the system, the reboot with the new card is fine before installing drivers. Then I re-install the drivers for the Geforce4. Everything is cool and I reboot... but then the system locks up. Hi guys, I'm sure you can guide me through this eventually by tellin me where to look. I'm struggling with the everlasting story about the videoboard with the best quality/price performance. I was thinking about the chance (but recently I have seen the price!!! I never realize it was so high) to buy the Matrox Parhelia (maybe due to the chance of having three monitors without having three computers). Did some of you have had experience with this board? Can you eventually indicate to me some posts to check this board? In Italy the Parhelia is rated 428 dollars and I think that if the performance are not so higher than a GEForce 4 TI4200 (or 4400-4600) the price is not wort…

Hi,Soon I'm going to buy/build a new PC and I'm wondering what the minimum requirments for the power supply are. If have chosen a Chieftec case that comes with a 360W power supply. Is this enough or should I opt for the 430W version? I don't care about the extra money, but I do care about the (propable) extra noise. My new system will have the following components:P4 2.8 or 3.0GhzASUS P4G8X (Dual Channel DDR)GF4 Ti 4600Disk, sound, NIC etc.so, is 360W enough?Egbert Drenth

I bought this joystick when it first came out and it worked great with Win98SE. I am now running WinXP Home and am unable to get the Logitech calibration software to work with XP. I downloaded the update from Logitech for XP and can't get it to install. I'm not a programmer and their help solutions are no help to me. If anyone can give me a fix for this I would certainly appreciate it. It's a great joystick but I would like to be able to calibrate it using the Logitech software which would enable me to adjust the forces.Feel free to e-mail me or answer in the Forum. Thanks in advance.Craig [email protected]

I have been thinking about upgrading to an Athlon XP some time during the first half of next year. My idea would be to get a 2100 or 2200 plus associated memory and a new mainboard, if required - the ASUS A7V133 does not support XPs, does it?. Later on, then, I would want to find a new video card (GF4 or Radeon 9xxx).Are there any specific mainboards or video cards fitting the above specs which you could recommend to me right now, or will there be some new releases in the following months which I might consider? However, do you think an Athlon XP 2100 or 2200 would harmonize well with the GF3 Ti 200 I have right now until I would be able to throw in a new card?I don't wan…

I recently upgraded my system from a P3-833 & Matrox G400 Millenium graphics card running Windows 98 to an Athlon 2100+(and subsequently) a MSI GeForce4 Ti 4600 graphics card. the new machine has Windows 98 & Windows 2000pro on separate partitions & I've got FS2002 installed on both. Over the course of time I have installed a large number of AI aircraft using Ttools. The reason for the graphics upgrade was that I was getting lockups in Windows 2000 when a number of AI aircraft came into view (i.e. when overflying or on approach to a busy airport - the frame rate would drop & then the whole PC would lock up requiring the use of the reset button to re-start. …
