My computer:2.4Ghz P4 - made absoulutely no difference from a 1Ghz Duron I had512Mb DDR Ram64Mb ABit Siluro GF4 MXASUS P4B533I'm not at all satisfied with the performance of FS2002 on my computer. I want to know what I have to get to make it run the best it possibly can. I mean the absolute best of the best!! I'm really tired of several things. First the frame-rate, but most of all how edgey all of the scenery is (horizon, roads, runways, etc.)I've seen so many screen shots of the clearest smoothest scenery and I want to know how to get that!!Please Help!!Thanks All

  2. A long story but hopefully with some help a happy ending. 3 months ago I was running AMD 1900+ on a Gigabyte GA-7VTXE VIA-KT266A/VT8233 512MB Corsair DDR2400 and ASUS GeForce3 TI-200 Video. Was Happy with the overall performance especially with Wilco's 767 Pilot In Command Add-on getting around 15-17 FPS in cockpit view in 1600x1200-32 at airports and higher enroute. O/S was Windows ME.Upgraded to full version of Windows XP Home then a week later the CPU cooling fan failed and damaged the 1900+...the vidio card had been causing some interferance on the screen so I dicided to rework the computer....Replaced the 1900+ with A 2400+ and the motherboard went to a Gigabyte GA-7…

Could someone explain what the number associated with ram..ie pc2100 means? I assume the higher the number the better, since it's more expensive, but why, and is it worth it? My new MB, not yet installed supports both types.. DDR and SDram and says I can't combine those two types, but could I combine a pc2100 stick with a pc3000 stick for instance? JamesJ

I have owned a CH Flight Sim Yoke LE USB for the past 16 monthsand use it almost daily. Overall, I'm delighted with it'sperformnace, but I have noticed lately that it is somewhatsluggish --- not returning consistently to the home or handsoff position, or needing extra effort at the limits of movement. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to a safe method forcleaning and/or lubricating the control shaft? I have nodesire to take the unit apart, and need to make sure thatI don't do anything that would contaminate the internalposition and movement sensors.Thanks.Wayne Allen, CYYZ

I am led to beleieve that upgrading my 2000 XP to a AMD 2600 XP will make a big difference to Frame rates because of the huge increase in FSB speed from 233 (is the correct FSB speed for a AMD 2000XP?) to 533 Mhz.Is this correct, or am I being misled again.Best Wishes, and Many thanks,ChrisEGBB

Hi,I have an AMD 350 Mz computer which I get from 12 to 15 frames per second the way I have it configured. I would like to get better detail on the virtual cockpits. I am using a Voodoo 3000 with 16 megs of ram. I am thinking about buying a Geforce4 mx 420 pci card with 64 megs of ram. My computer does not have an agp slot. Will this help or will or maybe slow my machine down because of the extra video memory to process. Also what drivers should I use with this card? I am hopeing this will help my system until I upgrade later this year.Bill FitzgeraldKsgf

Happy New Year to all.May 2003 be a PEACEFULL year!I recently upgraded my Operating System from Win98SE to WinXP Pro. I have also applied the ServicePack 1.I am asking for help because I have a BIG problem with my CH ProPedals USB. The problem has been addressed before in this forum (as I found out by searching a bit), but none of the solutions proposed worked for me. I also applied to CH directly pending their comments.Upon pluging in the USB Pedals they were recognized without any problems. Testing them through the Control Panel seems ok although the toe brake axis were jumping around. The slider looked a bit off center.Trying the pedals from within FS2002 I notice…

holajust got a new dell computer for christmas, here are the specs:Pentium 4 2.00ghz512 megs of memory60 GB hard drivei switched out the ATI rage 128 ultra that came with the system in favor of my [relatively] old GeForce 2 MX/MX 400.now, im currently getting about 15-25 frames in fs, but that slows waaaay down to less than 7 frames at LAX with most of the sliders set in the middle (i can be more specific if you want). but it was just kind of frustrating (kind of like haveing to go 30 miles an hour in a ferrari).any thoughts or advice would be welcomed.thanks, ben sharp

Hello everyone,I have a queston or two to ask. firts I just upgraded my motherboard and processor from a Biostar M7VIB and an AMD 1700XP to a Soyo P4S 645D lite and a Pentium 4 2.4 (yes quite a big jump). Everything went pretty smooth on the install however I have noticed that when the computer is booting at the very begining the AwardBIOS display is stating that my P4 is a 1.80 GHz. Also I have checked with the system information page and it too states that it's 1.80 GHz.:-mad I have checked the numbers etched onto the processor itself and it says 2.4 and my device manager states that as well. so as you can see I have become extremly confused. Is there something that I m…

  13. I have the Thrustmaster Rudder Control System I purchased quite a few years ago. Anyone have any idea how I can get WinXP home to see them??I currently use either a CH Yoke with throttle, mixture, and prop controls or a Logitech Wingman Force Feedback...depending on the type of aircraft. Both of the aboe are USB.If I attach another joystick and the rudder pedals to the gameport I can get the rudders to function...the only problem is I seem to losethrottle control unless I use the throttle on the joystick attached to the gameport whick defeats the purpose of using the Yoke or Logitech joystick.Any help would be appreciated.I thought perhaps if I opened up the cheap joystick…

Hi, does anyone know where I may get the best Bios settings for my Biostar M7VKD motherboard? I checked amdmb.com, but they don't have it. Also, where may I get advice on the best settings for my Geforce 2 GTS 32MB. I sometimes get lock-ups in graphically intense games. I did check the fans, the drivers, they are fine. Thanks. Asad.

Hi Fellow Hardware Enthusiasts,It's been quite some time since I've been through this neck of the woods. But now I come before you with a rather embarrassing question. My motherboard is equiped with IEEE-1394 (firewire) capability. I've noticed for quite some time that when I uninstall my NIC, there is always a "1394 connection" that comes up in my list of available network connections. If I use the network setup wizard (I run WinXP), it bridges these connections for me. I've had a recent spate of networking problems, and I'm wondering if this bridge is part of the problem. Can someone please explain to me what this "1394 connection" is doing in my list of connections, and…

Hi, Are there any Linux users here? I need help loading my joystick in Linux. I installed the kernel source and read some joystick documentation that came with it but it's a bit over my head and I really don't want to have to compile the kernel if I can help it, I'd prefer to just load the joystick driver as a module.Using Mandrake 8.2 and kernel 2.4.18-6mdk. If any Linux users out there feel like helping me, just lemme know and I will provide more inforation. -Matt Bailey

Happy Holidays everyone! I'd love some opinions to help make a decision here. I fly mostly FS2K2, Falcon4 SP3, and IL2. My system has held up quite well, and I'm big into tweaking and tuning for max performance. However, FS2K2 has become the main reason driving my upgrade (everything's on order to arrive next week). My two main questions are:1) Would I see enough clocking benefit from adding a water cooling system from Innovatek to the new system (see specs below). I'm already putting in an air cooled Termaltake AX-478 which gets some great reviews...and a Lian-Li PC-65 aluminum case...so maybe not that much benefit...priced at around $255 USD.2) Should I do a HD wipe (da…

Sir,I've come across a problem that I know you addressed earlier in this forum, but I have another question for you. Like another user of this forum, I have lost use of the mixture lever on my CH USB yoke. I did read your reply but am left confused. Your fix was changing entries in a .cfg file. Was this the FS2002.cfg or the devices.cfg? Also, any entry I find for the mixture axis is listed as:AXIS_EVENT_03=AXIS_MIXTURE_SETAXIS_SCALE_03=127AXIS_NULL_03=1instead of what you presented as:AXIS_SCALE_03=64AXIS_NULL_03=36As with the other user, it will calibrate in windows, but it is not recognized in MSFS, nor with FSUIPC. I'm left scratching my head on this one. Any i…

HiI just bought a 21" CRT HP monitor. However XP only recognises it as 'Default Monitor' hence I can only run it at lower resolutions/refresh rates than the monitor is actually capable of.How do I make XP recognise it properly?Searched high and low across the net without success for drivers, not even the HP website had them. Mmmmm! Thanks :-)
