Hello,I want to rig up my second monitor to run either the overhead panel of the PSS A330 or Squawkbox host.Would anyone mind telling me what I need to get this to work? I have the DVI adaptor on my radeon 9800 pro. This shouldn't be a problem.Or would it hog too many resources and be better to buy a cheap PCI card. Thank you for your help.Regards,Alexander Martin.

Hi,Does anyone know whether there could be or will be any need to re-install Windows XP after upgrading to a faster CPU ?At least older operating systems used to have hard coded timing loops which they tuned during O/S installation, perhaps even device drivers did that. Not sure whether this is still the case. Then these loops would be too short and may cause trouble.I guess there must be quite a number of people who have done CPU upgrades and can report here on their experiences.Regards,Siggy

What's the "best" chip I could get to go with this motherboard.Just looking through the ASUSTeK manual and it states chips from 2800+.Mine system came with a XP2700+, so does this mean it'll happily take Barton cored processors - albeit with a BIOS update?I'm curious as I recently saw a new version of the A7N8X advertised, and wondered whether my motherboard was pretty much near it's potential for upgrades (in terms of CPU anyway).

What should the graphics aperture size be set to in the CMOS?At the minute it's set to 64mb, but I'm not sure what it was set to prior to my CMOS reset. The ATi website recommended 64, but it wasn't particularly card specific the section I was looking at.Is it card specific, or is it more concerned with the amount of RAM you have, or what?

HiI'm in the stages of upgrading my computer, and I've got my eyes fixed on the Athlon 64 series. I'm currently running an Athlon 2100xp, that is 2 yrs old, and I'm wondering would I see a noticable improvement if I upgraded to an Athlon 64 3000?I'm a novice when it comes to CPUs. The old Athlon 2100XP is 1.7ghz and the new on is 2.2ghz, this doesn't seem much of an improvement to me, but I believe it's the FSB that makes the overall difference, if I'm correct?I think the Athlon 2100 has a FSB of 133 compared to the 333 from the Athlon 64.CheersWill

nVidia has posted the latest WHQL driver, 56.64. Only the international version is WHQL, however. My experience with FS2004 so far. My system is described with my signature.(1) The picture quality and fps are quite good. However,.....(2) At AA2X, FS2004 and the system freeze for about 3 seconds when using "Print Screen" or a screen-capture progam. Everything seems ok then.(3) At AA greater than 2X, FS2004 and the system completely freeze when using "Print Screen" or a screen-capture progam. I had to manually poweroff my computer (holding in the start button until it shuts off).(4) Both Print Screen and my screen capture program work if the AA setting is left at "App…

After installing the new Cat 4.3 drivers the ATI options tab on the control panel says I still have the 4.2s.This is the procedure I followed;Un-installed the 4.2s using the "remove all ATI drivers" utility in add-remove programs.Reboot, check the control panel and all drivers are gone.At this point Windows has always showed it has found new hardware (vid card) on the reboot. This does not occur.Install 4.3 drivers. The opening screen states these are the 4.3s.The install goes fine, but when complete the control panel states I have the 4.2s.Is there something different I should do when installing the drivers?ATI 9800 XTWindows XP/sp1Thanks,Ken

Hi,I always had stutters on my system (or very few with sound off). Despite all tweaks, gurus advices and everything I still have stutters and it destroyes all feeling of simulating a flying or rolling plane. Its a shame. By the way I have a excellent 50 fps.Recently I switched to a new plane ( I was always on the same turboprop model since I do use a real cockpit with several networked computers). While taxying I had the impression that the stutters were gone and in the same time I had the bad impression of no motion. But the stutters were gone. For a little time I was almost convinced that my former flight modell was the cause of all trubbles. Then came in my mind the fac…

I have a Radeon 9800 pro graphics card and tonight I was looking at my settings for the card when I noticed that I have the Direct 3D setting all on high and the Open GL setting on medium or low. Now my question is should both of them be on the same setting level (I would put them both on high) to get the maximum effect in FS2004? And what does Open GL do in FS2004 if anything at all?

I'm not a hardware expert so I don't know about the inner workings and settings of a PC or FS9. I just updated to a Radeon 9800 XT and loaded the latest drivers. I expected the same flawless performance that I read about on the forums so many times. The card seems beautiful, but I feel it's performance is being held back. My fps counter shows 25 - 27 avg. while sitting in the DF Cardinal at a small airport. Flight is relatively smooth, but I get pauses of a second or so while turning and a few times on final. I have read posts of not a single stutter or pause with just a 9800 Pro on systems less powerful than mine. I'm throwing up the white flag for any advice or help out…

card and running the performance graph, I'd be interested in some readings of the video memory usage in FS9 for comparison purposes.I've got a 128MB card and showing usage above that, that is with no AI and lot's of downsized textures from the defaults. The first pic is a screen from FS9 and doesn't show the legends for the graphs on my system, that's why I included the second pic as a reference.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67038.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/67039.jpgKurt M

Howdie Folks,Got me a bit of a strange one here. Until the release of the ATI 4.3 Catalyst drivers, i have been using the Omega drivers on my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro card. No probs using that driver, but when i tried to update and try the 4.3 from ATI on reboot, I get the windows error message saying the ATI Control Panel fails to load.Tried various options to try and solve the problem. Installing the driver first then the CP seperately but what ever combination i try it still fails to load.I have even gone back to the initial drivers supplied with the card (which will load the control panel) and then trying to upgrade... but no luck.Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? My…

Purely my opinion....butAfter UNINSTALLING the ATI 4.1's and INSTALLING the new 4.3's from ATI, I am absolutely in Heaven. I'm using an ATI 9800 Pro card with 128mg., and the new 4.3's show me the following improvements: Better frame rates, faster draw rates for cockpit, spot, and VC, and overall better quality. I use the Eaglesoft Citation for my default plane, and I use the deluxe version with all animations. Everything draws faster...including the chick with the laptop in the passenger compartment. So far I'm really happy with these drivers. What do you think?I hope this isn't just a fluke...but so far, so good. Stan

I have noticed that with the new cat 4.3 drivers, I have less shimmering effect on the scenery than before. Has anyone else noticed this? In particular the construction crane located at KABQ. It has lots of straight edges that use to wiggle when ever you would move past it. As far as I know, there never was such a crane in that location. It is a open ramp used by the fire bombers during the summer. Must have been a freebee from Microsoft to make this "As Real As It Gets".Terry

I have checked the bios, and set it to the highest rate available.Any comments would be appreciated!!RegardsBob C.

hi guys, recently my Alienware mobo. (Asus P4T533-C) P4 3.06, 1gig of PC1066 RDRAM was replaced with an Intel 875PBZ mobo. P4 3.00, 1gig of DDR PC3200 ram. also, the WD 60GB 7200RPM with 8MB cache buffer HD was replaced with the Seagate 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache HD. 9800XT, Audigy2 ZS & all other hardware is the same. my performance in FS9 has gone downhill with this new setup. for example, with the Asus mobo./RDRAM setup when flying at cruise altitude in the default 747 on top of a solid overcast my lowest fps was 10-12. now with the Intel 875 mobo./DDR setup the same FS scenario listed above my lowest fps is now in the single digits...4-9. the popping/filling in of the …
