I am going to be building a new comp soon, and as for the motherboard, what would be a good one, my choices are from Asus, is it really worth the money to get the best one? P4C800-E-DX? or would the P4S800 (Cheapest one) do just as good of a job or should I go for something in between, I won't be using the onboard audio or NIC, so those dont matter , it just have to at least 6 USB ports, and 4 slots for RAM.

I have a NEW 64 bit pc networked to my original 2400XP machine. Both work sharing files perfectly. The problem is that the Broadband connection drops the DSL layer when the new client machine is switched on. At first I thought it was an IP conflict, firewall, or incorrect bridge connection, but it still drops dsl if the Lan cable is unplugged and I power up the client machine. The only connection I have is the auto switching roline KVM switch.Has anyone else had a problem via a KVM switch?Problem Number 2 is that I tried about 10 times to load FS9 onto the 64 bit machine only to have it reboot several times at different points of the loading and on different discs. I finall…

HI I have been running 2 x 17 inc flat screens on a GF Ti4600 in wide view mode (pilots view across two monitors, I even built a custom panel in order to get rid of that streched look) , stupidly I thought I would buy an Asus 98000XT.I can't find a control in the screen setting menu of the card to allow me get my dualview back, I can extend the desk top, which allows a seperate window into the second screen, but if I try and resize the FS window across it, FS just distorts.Does anyone know if you can do this with these cards or is it just Nvidia that have the software inbuilt? Thanks NigelAbit AN7Ath 3200Xp3x512 x XMS proAsus 9800XT 250Windows XP

I'm building a new system. Does anyone have experience with the new ATI Radeon 9800 XT (256mb) card as it relates to FS9? If so, is it worth the dollars? My system will be built around a P-4 3.2HT, 1 gig of Corsair registered RAM, and a Seagate 160 hd. In other words, I'm trying to go "all out" but don't want to waste money if the 9800 XT isn't worth it in terms of added performance. Thanks!!!

Hi all, sometime in the future I'd like to upgrade my vid card, currently aGF4200 64mb. Very decent card, as a matter of fact I am quite happy with it.Now, very often in FS2004 I witness the "texture loading effect": Stutters, sometimes longer than a few seconds, where textures are being re-loaded, even constantly when I pan around my aircraft in a heavily textured environment such as the freeware KBOS scenery for FS2004.My question is: Does it help to increase vid mem on the card, so that loading textures into memory does not occur that often, or is FS2004 coded in a way that it is more dependent on the processor/ram part? Thanks for hints, celticmatrix

Hi dears,i actually run a P4 2.4B, FSB 533, with 1Go DDR 333 Mhz,and expect to upgrade to a stronger CPU, ie. P4 3.06 Ghz.the mobo chipset is the Intel i865P.Though it supports FSB 800, is it true that I wont be ableto match an 800FSB CPU with some 333Mhz RAM?If so, I have to buy the disappearing P4 3.06ghz fsb 533,instead of some P4 3.0 fsb 800...Last, has hyperthreading anything to do with FSB?I mean, would an FSB 533 prevent me from using the HT technology?...I would alos like to know if you thinkit will make a big differencein fs2004, from my old P4 2.4b to a P4 3.06 ?....

i know a lot of people are gonna suggest upgrading to dsl or cable instead of just getting a v92 modem, but i can't afford it right now. I want to change from v90 to v92 because v92 has some better features, or so i've heard. Plus i want to know what i should be looking for also as in features (such if it should be internal or external). Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Fellow Flight Simmers:Wow! I can't believe that after all these months - I finally have a smooth Sim in BOTH 2002 and FS9!!! "NO MORE STUDDERS!" Maybe I should run for president on that platform!!! The truth is, that by carefully reading all of your excellent suggestions to the problem of studders, it got me to think out of the box - LITERALLY!!! I realized, as I was down on the floor ready to remove a secondary PCI Video card, that I had a lot of additional equipment connected to the computer. Palm synch cradle, Dazzle card reader for my digital camera, among other things. So I thought that maybe - just maybe - there were outside factors interfering with the sim. At firs…

Hi. I just upgraded my motherboard and chip and memory to a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP 875 chipset with the Pentium IV 3.2 chip and 1 gb of Corsair memory. I kept the ati radeon 9500 pro video card and reinstalled Windows XP Professional. I upgraded from an AMD 2400xp chip. I was hoping for a marked increase in performance, but my initial results with FS2004 are dismal, about 1/6 the performance of the 2400xp chip. I ran 3dmark03 and got a benchmark of 915, which is apparently pathetic compared to comparable systems. I'm hoping I could get some insight and what I have configured wrong in the system to get these results.

It looks like I need to update my flight controls, and I was wondering about going to the CH USB Yoke and rudder pedals. I have had them in the past, and they did cause me some grief (electronically), but that was quite some time ago (FS98 I believe). I'm now using Win XP Pro with FS9. Does anyone have any recommendations (or alternates if they don't like the CH stuff for any reason), yea's or nay's on the CH stuff?By the by, I did do a search for CH, CH Products, CH Yokes, CH Controls prior to posting this, but most of the info I did find was old and nothing that specifically addressed my question here. Thanks gang - appreciate the help.Glenn

I decided to finally upgrade my video card from the GeForce 3 Ti500 to the GeForce FX 5900 and can't even run FS2004 without it freezing or locking up. I can get to the main menu screen where I can create my flight, but as soon as I get on the runway, everything freezes up. The usual 3 button keypress doesn't get me out of the program so I have to completely shut down the computer and re-start. Hey,I just got a new computer with an 128MB ATI Radeon 9800 Pro graphic card. When I was running in games such as FS2004 the graphics were looking very choppy. I tweaked with the display settings and downloaded the new drivers from the ATI site and it was still the same. I then downloaded Direct X and it is now looking good. However, I'm still getting a bit of jagged edges.I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to get the most out of my graphics card.Thank you very much,Lawrence

Hi guys,I really need your help on this one.Since a week I have a problem with the graphics in FS2004. The problems began with little white spikes flashing bye when looking into dark surfaces (e.g. the panel)and after that ranges from skies being reflected on the ground to smearing graphics to complete crashes. First I thought it had something to do with replacement textures till this afternoon when the problems got worse and I was confronted with blue screens with the following errormessages:---------------snip-----------------------------------//// Watchdog Event Log File//LogType: WatchdogCreated: 2004-01-27 17:05:15TimeZone: -60 - West-Europa (standaardtijd)WindowsVer…
