I've decided to spend my money on a pair of EDimensional 3d glasses. However, when I try to activate the 3d effect in FS9, it keeps crashing with the message that FS has encountered an error and must close. Are there any users of the glasses that have had this problem and resolved it?Victor

Hi there,I have read on another hardware forum that the latest Nvidia drivers are not necessarily the best for older cards and that they might even reduce performance. any comments? If this is so, which is then the best driver for the Ti4200 128MB card?regardsPaul

Sorry for the length of this post, but I think I may just have found the perfect "add-on" for FS, and I've got to share my experiences. There's a new company on the block called Flight Simulator Graphic Solutions. Their primary offering is a service deigned to help FS users tweak both their hardware and software settings in order to get the maximum performance from their PC when running FS, or any other application for that matter. My first reaction was skepticism. If I had a penny for every tweak posted on FS-related forums that I've tried (usually to little or no effect) I'd have my own real aircraft by now. I figured this would be more of the same -- at best some obvio…

  8. This was news to me...The newest driver for saitek joysticks (D use the cyborg evo) does not have a calibration tab in the control panel. Instead, the joystick is "dynamically calibrated" during use. I didn't really think too much about that at the time. I just assumed that calibration wasn't needed or somehow built in...I had been experiencing some 'drift' when starting FS, usually when taxiing, but also a pronounced sensitivity to roll left. I couldn't figure out how to fix it since there was no calibration, per se. Turns out that if I deflect the joystick axes fully through the full range of motions, 'drift' disappears as the joystick is now dynamically calibrated…

This may be old news to most, but for me it was the biggest FPS boost I've experienced on my older machine. I have an AMD 2400+, 512 MRam, GeForce3 card PC.... and the max FPS I could achieve with default aircraft in city areas (KSEA, KSLC etc...) was approx 7 - 10 FPS. I had most sliders set 3/4 of the way up, AI Traffic set to 100% using quite a few of PAI's excellent AI traffic. In rural areas I could get 10 to 17 in level flight but it would drop dramatically in a turn or with add-on scenery. So this morning I decide to look through the manual for my motherboard and I find where I can easily update the BIOS for the motherboard at MSI Live Update. I follow the direc…

...If so...~What MB are you using with it?~How is stability, and with what O/S?~Has anyone installed it with Win98SE?~If the MB has integrated sound, how would that compare to other cards, like the SBLive Value?~How has it improved your MSFS performance?I'm shopping for a new MB/CPU combo to replace my current P3 based setup. I've been an Intel user since the 8086, but I'm willing to choose what fits best, especially for MSFS. However, when it comes to speed vs. stability, stability wins out for me. My current setup, ancient as it is, is very stable and provides hour after hour of crash free simming, both with COF and with older versions of MSFS. Also, for what it's w…

Hi!I've installed the latest 56.56 nvidia-video drivers and the new stereo drivers (both downloaded from Edimensional's website). All games (Halo, Vietcong, NFS underground etc.) work with 3D EXCEPT FS04! I tried windowed and full screen mode, tried changing the hotkey (and always active mode) and tried different resolutions. When I open the stereo-settings after the FS04 disappointment, even the medical test image isn't working anymore (displaying the text and the image in 2D, side by side and twice).Has anybody had the same problems?Best regards,Stefan

I finally got a Radeon 9800 Pro card and there is quite a difference from my former GeForce 4 4600. Instantly, I noticed about a 10 fps increase from before but most importantly, it runs much smoother with most annoying stuttering gone. I got the card from Gateway, who talked me into buying it from them for the warranty with my system. Unfortunately, it came with no software or documentation, just a generic install manual for all cards. I downloaded the latest Catelyst drivers and the control panel software from the ATI website. My GeForce card had a control panel option for setting both AA and AF. I was advised to disable AA in FS04 itself and set it through the card's …

  16. I have the CH Flight Sim Yoke and Rudder pedals also MS Sidewinder Precision Projoystick.I tried to assign the throttle on my Sidewinder to elevator trim axis. In settings it is marked as trim axis. But it won't work. But I could assign a axis on my CH Yoke as trim. My sidewinder is recognised as well as my assignment of it's throttle as trim axis.So it should work?!But FSUIPC does not recognise the MS stick throttle as trim.

Some people claim that Omega drivers bring a lot.I can surely say that this is not the case here. I had one flight saved in my flights as a test. I had original ATI drivers installed - was getting 29fps stable when loaded the flight. Then I installed Omega Drivers - 24-25 varying. And then I reinstalled original drivers - 29fps again. And considering picture quality, the same.Thought I'd share this with you.

I have read an article about processor test. One thing they used was 3D Mark which was supposed to show game performance. The result was very small differences between the slowest Athlon XP 2200+ and the fastest the Pentium 4 3.4 MHz. And their conclusion was if you wan't a strong game performence you should not spend the money on fast CPU but rather on a graphics card. How valid is this regarding the FS9?I have nowSoltec MotherboardAthlon XP 1800+512 M RAM 333 MHzAsus v8170 GeForce 4 MMX graphics cardWin XPIs this bad for FS9? Can I get a significant increase in Performencefor FS9 if I upgrade some component here for a modest cost?

Hello!I get very confused opinions about Radeon 9700 and 9800;some say it is very good, others not.I am still vacillating between GF 5900 and the Radeons. Can someone honestly say that the Radeon gives blurred images,or is that just something exaggerated? The test reports in Tom's Hardware, for example, states that itis superior to the GeForces. If so, how are they superior, if they produce blurred images? That would be quite unacceptable for me.I am after power, framerates and image quality.Looking forward to your just judgements..........Thanks again!Hans HermanssonSweden

I am using the CH Flightsim Pro yoke. The throttle is linked to the Z axis and calibrates correctly. I am also using the latest version of FSUIPC with the throttle mapped, I think, correctly. The problem is that whenever I push the throttle up, it drops right back to idle by itself. Sometimes it does it almost at once without reaching full power; other times it will go to full power for 30 seconds and then drop back. Any ideas?

Hello everyone!Since couple of days I've been trying to find any articles or suggestions of how to repair a sloppy joystick. I own Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, which I find basically awesome, but unfortunately, after some time (especially since I tried playing NFSU with it), it lost a bit of the centering. I remember that when I bought it, it was extremely firm in the middle. So what I'd like to do is again fix it. I still don't have the tools to open it, otherwise I would have done it, but I wonder if someone has already done this or at least read about it?Anyway also, before I would open it, first I would like get some suggestions, so I'm not completely in the…
