I Have Soundblaster 5.1. On one of the other forums they say you can plug in the mic and headphones into the on board sound and hear ATC when flying online, and then hear everything else in the Soundblaster 5.1 audio. Now when I installed 5.1 I disabled onboard audio. How can i get that back? I don't see it in device manager. Thanks Bob

Someone please try and help me I've recently added a Belkin USB mini hub to my system and it plug & played OK and I had two devices connected to it. However the other day I noticed that the device lights weren't on, even though the hub is powered. Now when I go to device manager, it either doesn't know the device is attached or states a code 10 problem. sometimes when connected it also states that it is a hi-speed device connected to a low speed port (?) - see belowMy system has 5 USB 2.0 ports, 4 on the back 2 x 2 and another on the front which is part of a memory card reader. Under USB controllers there are 4x USB root hub listings. When I look at there properties, …

Howdy Gang,I've installed the new Omega drivers for my ATI Radeon 9800 256 Pro, and so far really like them - a LOT! One thing I'm getting now that has be slightly baffled, is the screen at startup suggesting I turn off my TV display options if I don't have a TV attached. I don't, so I punched the button that says to Enable or Disable TV Display, and it tells me what to do from there. Here's a screenie of the first message.http://home.cogeco.ca/~gdfs01/TVmssg1.jpgNo sweat, until I get to the Advanced Properties and pull up my Display tab. As you can see from the next screenie, my TV is not attached, and the "Enable/Disable" button is greyed out (top left corner of the…

Hi!My Sapphire 9600 Pro shows the follwing problems when switching to fullscreen-mode:everything works fine until I want to display the menu-bar using ALT. It takes between 5 to 10 seconds until it is displayed, during this time I get display errors. The same thing happens when the menu-bar disappears again....I also get stutters when displaying text or when I change the sound-volume on my Logitech-keyboard (which displays a volume-slider overlayed onto the screen each time I change the volume...I could turn it off, of course, but I just wanted to describe the symptoms...).I also get a big frame rate - hit when I use software such as the Flightproject - Pilot Client (I kn…

Gents,OK, so now that I have the second computer built, I decided to network it with the old one.My question is, do I need to install my firewall on the second pc, as well as the first? I remember reading somewhere that the firewall (software) need only be installed on the host pc to protect all other computers on the network.I have not set up any kind of file sharing between the computers. I simply wanted to have Internet access with both machines. Here is a brief description of the setup:Computers 1(98se) & 2(XP) (both w/outpost software firewall) --> D-Link Router (DI-604 w/hardware firewall) --> cable modemThanks,Roger

I installed these drivers tonignt (latest ones from Omega). I have noted much better clarity in FS2004, the reolution and detail appears to be much better than the prior 3.1's. However, this brings a performance penalty, especially with AI traffic. KLAX really hits it bad (with Ultimate Traffic).Any other comments on these drivers?Thanks,Bruce.WinXPATI-9800 ProFS2004P4-2.61G PC-2100

Just an idea guys. I downloaded and installed Window Washer (http://www.webroot.com/wb/index.php) and use it at least once a day, followed by Diskeeper's Defrag utility (http://www.diskeeper.com/coverpage.asp) and the speed I have picked up on my computer, and thus in FS is amazing. There are a whack of files that get stuck on your machine that you don't even know about when you are on websites, etc. that really slow things down. These two programs in combination seem to get all that speed back again. You vets probably know about this already, but perhaps some folks can use the info. Check it out. It's mostly payware, but if it keeps my other payware running smoothl…

Gents,I have been leafing through the manual of my new Radeon 9600 while waiting for my Newegg shipment to arrive.Page 1 has me a little confused ( I know, not a good sign ). It states the following:Quote (with their bolds, not mine): To ensure a successful installation of your ATI graphics accelerator card, you MUST do the following BEFORE replacing your current graphics card with your new ATI card: Install AGP Drivers for non-Intel chipset based motherboards. Each non Intel chipset requires the installation of a custom Virtual GART driver. This driver is required by your new ATI card to function correctly with your motherboard. It is very important that the correct AGP…

Greets,This is a follow up to a previous question regarding swapping my existing p4 2.26 533 fsb with a p4 3.06 533 fsb. I've got a Dell 4500 whose mother board is based on the intel 845E chipset - it does support hyper threading. The docs for the box only say that options available are up to 2.8 ghz - but that's just what dell offered, and the PC is a year old - maybe there weren't 3.06 chips then? Before I plunk down the cash, I just want to be sure that my board will support the 3.06 - any reason to suspect otherwise? How could I tell for sure? Thanks for any info!Best,sg

Hi All! I had to uninstall and reinstall FS9 for an unrelated problem which went fine. I still use 2002 for online flight. I have an interesting problem which is the same for BOTH versions. Despite the awesome frame rates that I get, the sim studders almost every second. The sound is smooth - it is in the graphics - both on the ground and in the air. In FS9 I fooled with EVERY possible display configuration and nothing changes it. Because it happens in both versions, I think it must be the VID Card settings but i messed with them as well and it still is bad. My configuration... Hi. I've been away from the flightsim hobby for awhile, but just bought FS9 and need some advice. First, I installed it on my existing computer (AMD 700MHz,98SE, 384 RAM, Nvidia TNT2 Ultra) and it actually performed fairly decently. I'm now looking to upgrade and was wondering if there are any recommended ready-to-go sytems (Dell, HP, Sony, etc.) (prefer AMD)that will successfully run FS9 with sliders maxed or almost so. If not, could someone recommend an AMD processor, motherboard, and video card that is considered pretty foolproof? Also, if possible, I would like to be able to use my present non-USB CH Flight Yoke and Thrustmaster pedals so I guess I would need some kin…

Hi folks, been a long time lurker here, and finally getting around to building a new machine for fs9. I hope I didn't come to the wrong place to ask this question, but I was just wondering whether I could create a local-area network connection with another computer in my house via the existing network hardware. My (or should I say, our) setup looks like this. Me and my dad both have a computer, both of which are connected to a switch/router device for DSL access. However, unless I misinterpreted my router's manuals completely, it should be possible to run a local connection between my and my dad's computer via the very same cables and router currently used only for DSL - or shouldn't it?It's been a while since I last worked with local-area networks, so I'd be very thankful…

I increased the throttle, started moving...and was all over the place. With the twist handle of my old Logitech stick, this wasn't a problem. Things became a lot easier after I determind that the rudder axis and toe-brakes were inverted and corrected them :-lol It also took some tweaking to get the Mix and Prop levers to wo…

Gents,I'm knocking together a new system for gaming only. It will be my first completely homebuilt pc.I have a very limited budget for this system and I am having trouble deciding on the best configuration for FS2002/2004.It's going to go one of two ways:1)Athlon 2000+ with PC2100 & Radeon 9600 ( $235 apprx. )or2)Athlon 2500+(Barton) with PC2700 & Geforce FX 5200 ( $230 apprx. )Now, I understand that neither of these systems are bleeding edge solutions, but due to budgetary constraints, I can afford no more. Assuming no overclocking, which is better suited for MSFS ? The stronger processor (w/larger cache) or the stronger vid card ?Thanks,Roger

Might not have to buy a new PCI card for it.Even with the above error message, everything SEEMS to be in sync with video/audio with all I have checked... CD,DVD,software Thanks,
