hi,Today I was doing some moving and deleting between my two harddrives and I got this error "Cannot copy PAI_install_air_maroc: Data error (cyclic reduduncy check). Am I loosing a harddrive here or what? I would be devastated if I lost my main FS harddrive :-( A couple weeks ago I got an error while downloading a file that said something about a "write error" and then the download failed I didin't pay much attention to it. What does this error mean? "Data error: (cyclic reduduncy check)" sounds a little serious too me heh.Andrew

I run Win98SE with an nVidia FX5600 video card, and Intel MB. Just this evening I purchased a new FX5700 Ultra card w/DDR-2 RAM. I carefully removed my old card and installed the new one. It was longer than the old card and I had some trouble getting it seated, but it finally seemed to settle. It had optional instructions to connect the card to the computer power supply to get the most optimum performance from it, but it was clearly implied that the connection was not absolutely necessary. I chose not make the connection.I replugged the monitor, mouse and keyboard, then rebooted. I get a "Sync Override Error" message in the middle of the monitor -- it doesn't even get…

I am running Windows Me with two partitions C & D.Like often in the past I decided to resize my partitions and move about 2 GB free space out of D to C. I use Partition Magic for that. But PM while it was almost done with the task returned some sort of error. When I rebooted I noticed that I lost 2 GB of disk space ! I saw that size of D was decremented by 2 GB but C did not gain any extra space.I ran Windows' disk scan utility - all seems fine, no errors are showing up.I ran PM's error check utility and it immediately returned some sort of error # on partition C telling me that I have some open files on C and should run operating system's check utility. Which utility …

Hi everyoneI bought the Logitech Z680 digital speakers and I have an Audigy 2 zs standard card. The speakers came with regular analog wires even though they're digital speakers. I want to get the full digital ability out of them. The audigy 2 zs card has a digital out jack. I was wondering if someone could please suggest a specific type of cable to get to run digital sound from the speakers thru the card and if possible where I can find them. Thanks a million!Jason

In a real aircraft when you push the nose down and let go of the stick the aircraft will return back to level flight if it is trimed out right. I have a force feedback 2 stick, and my question is this; What is the best way to control civilian aircraft, the yoke or stick and what brand? Second I have played with the sliders for sensitivity and can't get to a place where I can fly the larger aircraft manually. It seems that I am over controling constantly. I do have quite a bit of logged time in real aircraft.

Hi folks,I am running a GF3 Ti200 vid card on my P4 2.4C, 1Gb PC. I also have a PCI GF4 MX420 card installed for my 2nd "instrument panel" monitor.FS2004 runs "OK" on this system - frankly it doesn't run as well as I'd expect given the speed of this processor - and now that the Flight1 Meridian is out I'm seeing even lower framerates. And, I have a lot of stuff turned down or off in the sim, too...I've done some vid card research a number of times over the last few months - the last time I did it I decided that there didn't seem to be a card in the <$200 range (I can't/won't afford one of the $400 jobbies) that would give me much more oomph. I looked at things like pix…

Can anyone recommend a PCI-based, fast controller card?I have an analog yoke (the pretty expensive AFCS II) that will not work on my Pentium IV WinXP machine using the Dell supplied Soundblaster card. The digital Microsoft Sidewinder runs just fine. Advice on this forum indicates the problem is that the Soundblaster game controller is not fast enough to keep up. Since I do not want to buy a USB yoke, I would like to get a better gameport card. I do not believe there is one on the motherboard.Any help would be very much appreciated! Tom

HelloI have just bought a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT. I have the following systemWin2k + FS9AMD Athlon 2500Xp (barton)AOpen AK77-333 mobo512MB PC2700and I have just replaced a Connect3D Radeon 9100 with the above card.To say I am less than impressed might be an understatement. I get perhaps a 15% improvement in fps(on a good day, and flashing textures all over the place in the scenery, not much of an upgrade! I have the Catalyst 3.8 drivers installed. To overcome the flashing textures, I thought I would install the Catalyst 3.9 drivers. But, these lock up on installation and taking the advice in the readme, I rebooted, and then I rebooted again, and then I rebooted agai…

Hello,I'm thinking about replacing my GF3Ti200 with a new video card (for use with FS9). What I am looking at in the moment are the Radeon 9600 pro cards - they are getting cheaper and cheaper and seem to offer a good performance (I know the 9700 pro is the better one - but they are just too expensive). What I am confused about are the different types of 9600pro cards. Available at our local dealers are:- a Sapphire 9600pro 128MB for 163 Euro- a Powercolor 9600pro 128 MB for 138 Euro- a Powercolor 9600pro 256 MB for 154 EuroNow ... - does the Sapphire offer anything worth the extra money (besides Tomb Raider 3 which I don't care about)? Is there any use for the 256MB ve…

Does it make any sense to upgrade a 533mhz 2.66 to a 533mhz 3.06? I've already upgraded to an FX 5900, non-ultra and 1GB RAM. I'm still looking for increased performance with FS9, and with the recent decrease in chip prices it looks like an attractive upgrade, especially if I recover part of the cost by putting the old chip on e-bay.Thanks

Other side being 2004..I got a Sapphire 9800 128MB card today and BOOM, framerate and smoothness are there... I swore I'd never switch from 2002, but I gotta say after pokin around a little more in 2004 its got its advantages... I'm getting about 21fps on the default in Seattle now with Fair weather and all sliders maxed out. Coming back around from the circuit only loses 5 frames on final and there are no stutters (unless I look out a side view then I get a temporary drop)My other card was a 4200Ti with the same settings as the 9800 (AA 4X ,AF 8X) I was getting a dismal 9 frames.. more than doubled now...Now the questions:1) When I switch from fullscreen to windowed view…

The subject says it all, but here are the details... I fly mostly online on VATSIM, but I have tested this offline as well. I'll start up, select my aircraft and all of that stuff. At least 95% of the time, if not more, FS will freeze on me, rendering the computer completely locked. The only thing going on still is the same sound over and over and over, usually the engine noise. I thought it could also be vid related or heat related, but have tried 3 different vid drivers and running ASUS Probe, my temps never get above 125 degrees F. I'm thinking now that it's a sound card issue, it's a couple of years old, the oldest item in my current rig. I have even went so fa…

Hi Folks,I've been using an old Sidewinder Precision Pro USB (not the Precision Pro 2)joystick with FS2004 and find it works well for me as a joystick. But, I can't get the Precision Pro 3.0 software to work on my system (Dell PII, 1 gig, 512mb ram, GeForce 4 Ti4200 64mb, Win Me).When I look at the Precision Pro's control panel it says the game controller is not connected. Yet, when I look at the "Gaming Options" panel in /control panel it says that the joystick is connected. Also, the joystick does work well with FS2004. Since I can't get the software to recognise the joystick, I can't use the various buttons available on the joystick. One guess I have is that the 3.0…
