Hi In the Power Options settings of Display Properties, do you ever Turn off hard disks? I usually leave my PC on during the weekend and I was wondering if leaving the hard disks on all the time, is acceptable. Stelios

Hi there,I got some strange textures (everything is black where it should be transparent) since i installed my new Albatron GF4 Ti4200P Turbo.It has something to do with the bi/tri linear filtering: when i disable filtering everything works fine but looks terrible.To get rid of the problem i tried to install new detonator drivers (45.33) an re installed FS2004, but the problem remains!my specs: Athlon XP2200+ 512mb DDR-Ram Albatron GF4 Ti4200P Turbo thx for your help!

HiNow i'm totally miffed...Just "upgraded" my geforce 3 ti200 to a radeon 9600pro and to my utter dissapointment, i'm now seeing 5fps LESS when in spot view - from 21 to 16fps !!! with similar results in other views.Initially, the results were even worse with directx 9, restoring to 8.1 did "improve" things though.Though not cutting, edge, i believe my system is no slouch - the mobo and graphics card having full agp8x functionality.Any one got any thoughts as i'm now feeling a bit gutted !!!ThanksGary

I guess this post is for the hardware experts out there. I got FS2004 on the release date and have been borderline good performance so far-an average of 15 fps in most areas unless over dense buildings and autogen scenery, then about 8-9 fps. To get even this good I had to tweak down some sliders but for the most part, they're in the mid range. I went into "slide show mode" while in some overcast thus I had to disable those nice 3d clouds and go back to simple clouds. Then I read a post on the Dreamfleet site where a guy only getting 5 or 6 fps got a Gainward FX Powerpack Ultra 780 (Nvidia5600) 256 mb DDR 8x/4x AGP1 card. The card sold for $150. Hi all I hope someone can help on this one as I have run out of ideas I have just installed a new Geforce 5200 128meg card and my system is an AMD2.6+ athalon with 512meg of ram 40gig HD and a new ASUS A7V8X-MX motherboard when I fire up FS2004 everything is okay till I select an aircraft and got to fly now. It loads up everything except where the 2d panel should be its just a black rectangle the shape of the panel, but if I go to the VC everything is ok and I can fly ect except I cant bring up any small panels ie radio gps ect they come up as black squares. In the days of FS5.1 when it was released on CDROM for the first time, I was an avid user of Microsoft Flight Simulator back in 1994/95. I have now run a number of flights with the most demanding airplane in my hanger - the PMDG 737NG. Using the Windows XP Home systems monitor, I never saw more than 500 megs of RAM used by the machine. I have 764. Does someone know the story of RAM management in Windows XP? I have my page file defined between 384 and 768 megs.

I'm thinking about doubling my RAM to 1 gigabyte by the end of the year, just to make sure I'll be prepared for whatever hot new releases may come next year. I currently have two 256 MB sticks fitted into memory banks 1 and 3 and running in dual-channel addressing mode. However, would I disable dual-channel addressing if I were to plug in a 512 MB stick into bank 2 in addition to those I already have, and should thus get two 512 meg sticks and replace the 256 units?Thanks! :-)

Hey guys, just built a new system and went with the nforce2 on board sound, now I can't connect my joystick as it has a gameport plug on it instead of USB. I am using a sidewinder FF2 stick and it works great, don't want to have to but a new one, Bought an adapter, but it is not functioning properly. Tried to install the drivers that came on the CD awhile back, but got the message that they are not compatable with XP, went to the product site, saw no new XP drivers. Any ideas on how to get this working??
