I am excited, to say the least. I just built a new system to replace my old Athalon XP 1800+ system. I am now flying around in an P4 2.6 800FSB with hyperthreading running on an Intel P865PERL board with 1GB PC3200 matched RAM, and Radeon 9700 Pro. I also changed to SATA HD. All I can say is WOW... my frame rates went from 15-18 to 35-40! This is with ActiveSky WxRE, and Ultimate Traffic loaded. The only thing I now need is USB rudder, as there is no game port on this MB. Now if ATi/OMEGA would just release the new drivers with the fix I would be really happy.Forgive me for wasting the web-board space, but I just had to tell someone that would understand. (The wife j…

Hello Everyone,I recently bought CH propedals USB, but I have been hesitant to open them because they might not work with a Saitek X36 (USB). I know that there were issues (and a subsequent fix) for X36 and analog pedals for WinME and below.Does anyone know if the ch pro pedals usb will work with an X36, WindowsXP, and FS2004?Thanks in advance,Chris

Ok Brand new computer.Intel 3.0 gig1 gig ramRadeon 9800 ProClean install of Windows XPAll updates appliedI have read about the issues with the Radeon cards and FS2004, but surely this something more then that.My computer builder believes its all to do with the current driver issues, I believe its probably a faulty card. I am currently using the 3.7 drivers but the 3.6's makes no difference. No problems in DXdiag tests???It makes FS2004 basically almost unusable.Anyone with any suggestions , would be much appreciatedCheersPete

Hi All,I had an almost heart stopping moment on my Windows XP machine. The machine fired up as usual and got to the logon screen. Typed my password and my logon logo fell to the middle of the screen and then froze - no desktop or jingle. Eventually a message saying I couldn't be logged on came up followed by an explorer.exe error.I reset the machine and it went through scandisk. It flagged up an unroverable error with the 'Documents and Settings' Folders. Tried again and the same problem happened. So this time I reset and booted up in safe mode. Logged on as administrator and got to the system restore screen - phew! I selected a restore point I set from last week an…

Hi all,Got this snag with my setup, got a SBLive 5.1 Player put inin and found my router ADSL crapped out, dead as a dodo, took thecard out, ADSL is fine, put the card back in a different slot, router is dead.My last mobo had 4xAGP along with the ADSL and 5.1 Player and all was fine, new mobo is 8xAGP but I am using the same '300W' psu, sodoes 8xAGP require more power than 4x and the difference is just enough to make the prob with my router occur...?I really cannot go to another uprated psu as cash for this pc is really tight, if it is a voltage prob then I may go back to my old mobo, video card is 4 or 8xAGP.thanks for any info,Steve

I am not sure if anyone have had this problem before, I only looked about 5-6 pages back on this forum but I am just stuck with FS9 not recognizing my graphics card! Some while ago I upgraded my machine from a Ti4200 to a brand new Creative Geforce FX5600. All was well until one day my sim suddenly run no more than 3-4fps no matter the settings. Since then I have tried everything...I have updated the NVidia drivers to 45.23, directx to 9.0b, reinstalled FS9 totally, reinstalled the FX5600 from scratch and even gone back to the Ti4200 and still no results.. :(To make the situation more funny (in a tragic way) is that I benchmarked both cards tonight, using 3DMark03 and my F…

Hi,anyone have any ideas here as to why this is happening,I will include my sys specs at the bottom of this post.FS9 seems to run OK and I don't seem to have any real issues apart from the known driver bug of the lines etc with the CAT36/37's from ATI, I have the Hercules 9800 Pro 128mb card, I was trying to install my medal of honor allied assault game on my new machine and I kept having problems with it,the tech support guy at EA Games went through a few things with me which seemed to be OK, he took me through the DX Diag part and said ''theres you're problem'' which you will see in the screen shot, I disabled everything at the start up of XP Pro,and tried un-installing…

sorry, but i have done everything i can think of: checked irq conflicts, drivers, updates, even formatted. after 30min of fs9 the sound corrupts and iget scratchy sound and squeaky beaps. fps seems to drop as well, and pmdg flames out. i have a 250w ps, 300-350w is recommened, if the ps could be the issue can i power it on its own, b/c my motherboard can only do 250w. many thanks guysAndrewent from sb live->audigy2 then ti4200->fx5900, didn't notice any problems until i added the fx5900. my floppy isn't plugged into ps.

Would anyone suggest an accurate way to read the CPU/system temps? I've been using PC Alert and having received the last few updates, I don't believe I'm getting accurate readings. Idle process temps have been recorded (from 3 separate updates) 44C, 38C and lately 57C. No changes in hardware or operating parameters. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.Rick

Hello all,I have a HEWLETT PACKARD computer running 800 Mhz with 128 mB Ram that came with a Rage XL video Driver. I then Upgraded to 256 Mb of Ram with a ATI RADEION 9000 64Mb AGP Graphics Card. It worked fine until I Installed another stick of Ram taking it to 512 mb of RAM. Then the problems started.... I used my computer for Fs 2002 and it started freezing after about two minutes of flight time. Also, the shockwave player that improved with my new graphics card is not showing anymore... just a big white box with a red "X". I was thinking it could be my graphics card and that it might need new drivers. I was considering purchasing a new video card. Could this be the an…

Greetings all.I have purchased (should arrive next week) one of the older ATI cards, the ATI Radeon 9200 128MB for use in FS2002 (can't afford anything better on a CFII's salary). The original version of Win98 is my operating system.I was just wondering if the drivers that will come with the card will be alright, or if I would be better off getting newer ones, and where I might get them?I was at the ATI site, but not alot of info there.Regards,ScottKJMS

Hi !A technical problem for you hardware gurus !My primary hard disk is partitioned into a C: and F: drive (D: and E: are the CDR and DVD drives) and whilst the analysis of the F: drive appears to match the total volume used with the sum total of the various sub-folders, for the C: drive there is a big disparity. For the 9.7Gb C: drive the total for the sub-folders is about 6.05Gb, however WinXP reports that there is a little less that 1Gb free space. This is mirrored when looked at by the Information utility within Norton Utilities. For the F: drive if "everything" is selected (including sub-folders) the "pie-slice" for selected items is exactly the same as for the total s…

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 2.78 Ghz and 512MB RDRAM. Decided to up that to 1024MB and on the Dell site got confused so called a 1-800 number and the person I got hold of walked me through (actually placed the order for me) to get 2 256MB 533 front side bus modules to match the two I already have.Question - I'm taking his word for the 533 as opposed to the 400 so how do I tell what is in my machine?Question - If the current pair is 400, will the 533 pair cause a problem?Phill RoathBTW - also have Radeon 9700 pro and run FS9. Username: chartphred G'day,I've no idea if this is the right forum for this posting but thought it might be.Being a fairly dedicated flight simmer for many years I am at the stage now where I need to upgrade my PC. I'm planning on doing it sometime in the next year. I was just wondering what the minimum hardware specs (and software) that I should be considering.I really wish actually that we could run FS6 on a Linux box. Would make life a lot cheaper (micro$oft charge so much now for thier stuff).Should I go for a PIV or an AMD chip. Whats the difference in performance between the two. The PIV is more expensive here in Australia. But is it w…

Last night, I changed the "Default" aperture size in my bios from 64 to 128 and ran the Mad Onion 2001 and 2003 tests. Both improved by around 1500 points plus some of the choppy video in FS2004 was reduced in high demand scenery files. I do not know if moving up to the final setting of 256 would help any more or not. My system is a P4 @ 2.8GHz with a 800MHz fsb and 1 Gb of DDR 400 MHz ram, and all running through a ATI 9800 Pro.From what I can tell right now, all I did was to allow the system to "Breath" easier and or let the data flow even faster. Anyone else have similar experience with this AGP settings?Terry

Hello all. This will take care of the must post 90 day thing also. :) My son's computer is running win 98SE. I have a system with XP pro and printer. We share a cable modem through a netgear router. Don't know when the problem happened due to trying now since school started back up. Was able to share the printer and files before. Thought it was a bug in his, so reformat and installed win 98 again. We are sharing through the router and I can see my drives(XP machine) in the network. When I click on the folder from his machine,I get an error "not enough memmory, close apps." This has also stopped me from getting the printer to work/install from his machine(98) also. I can a…

I had my PC custom built this past March. I have an Intel D845PESVL mother board which supports 4X AGP. I also have a MSI GeForce Ti4200 8X AGP video card w/ 128Mb of DDR. On the nVidia control page the 4X AGP box is checked and can not be changed.I am suffering from intermittent stutters (down to about 5 seconds now) every 10 minutes or so in FS9. Could the mismatch between AGP settings be a problem?Just a thought. I'm chasing the wind here.
