A few weeks ago, I installed a sound card so that I could use my gameport yoke with my new computer(which didn't have a gameport port). My yoke now works fine :), but unfortunately the sound card messes up the sound in some games(not FS). :( Is there a way to disable the sound part of the sound card(so, the onboard sound-thing that came w/ my computer would process the sound), that will allow me to still use the gameport port that's attached to my sound card for my yoke? Thx in advance.

I recently got a new motherboard Asus P4B800 with the RAID function. I've been reading about it and I think I know how to set it up, ie create a disk, set up RAID in the BIOS and press F6 during Windows installation to use the disk. Once installed and ready to go, can I make partitions like before, will I see any difference in the HD order (C,D,E...)? I'd like to know what I should expect to see in my Windows Explorer. If you have any knowledge of RAID and willing to share it with me I'll be happy to read it, I'm a beginner with RAID.Thanks for the comments and suggestions,Danny

I would like to be able to run FS2004 at more than just the default settings. Besides replacing my P4 2.2GHz with a 2.8 to 3.2 GHz @800 MHz FSB, I would like to improve the video from the present Ti-4600 to a Radeon 9700 or 9800 Pro.My question is would I be able to see any difference in the imagage quality on my 1998 AOC 9Glr 19" monitor which can only run smoothly at 1280 x 960. Any higher setting and the monitor does weird things like making all sorts of noise and blanking out the video.Since this monitor only measure 17.8 viewable, I would also like to get something with a larger view, say in the 21 to 23" range with a "Flat Screen". Notice I said screen and not panel…

HiI have a MSI motherboard. Originally the board was for 400FSB PIV but I intend to run a 533FSB processor. The BIOS as the option 200MHz and 266MHz RAM.As far I understand if I overclock the FSB from 100 to 133 the 200MHz memory option will be transformed in 266MHz and the 266MHz in 353MHz. Is this right?ThanksJos

I'm looking to upgrade my machine to cope better with FS2002 and some other FPS games (Splinter Cell, UT2003 etc). My current setup is a Duron 1.2GHz on an Asus A7N266-VM mobo with 512Mb of PC2100 memory, 60Gb hard drive & the usual nuts & bolts. My first step will be to replace the CPU with an Athlon XP chip, at least a 2400+. The next thing after that will be a graphics card (I'm currently using the GeForce 2 chip on board my mobo).Since I'm on a tight budget (saving to get married etc), I can't afford loads for the gfx card, say about

Would like your opinion.Current System: ASUS A7V / AMD 1.2GHz Processor / 512MB RAM / GEFORCE2 64 UltraI want better framerates. Would I be better off to get a Faster CPU or a video card with larger memory? It is either/or, not both.I only use my PC for flightsimming. AI Traffic in FS9 kills my framerates.Thanks.Jim

I am contemplating a small upgrade, and wonder which card to get. It is between a GeForce 4 Ti 4800SE, or an Ultra FX5600. Both with 128 megs of memory, similar features. They appear to be close in performance, price, though the 5600 has slightly better memory bandwidth, and DX 9 support which the 4800 lacks. Is it a toss up? I have a P4 1.8, and I am still running win98se.I appreciate any tidbits that I might have missed to sway the balance either way! Thanks,Den

Hello and I am honored to be posting a question here. I can only hope I will have the favor of some responses. A new pc is on its way here and I need help to know where I should set fs2004's slider controls and other settings. Please include any suggestions for updates to fs9.cfg and even changes to WinXP Pro, disk paritioning and the BIOS, if applicable. I really need to know what kind of expectations I should have. I would like to fly with some clouds, if possible, and spend most of my time in the regular cockpit view (non-VC) because the gauges are larger and easier for me to read. I usually raise the seat a notch or two. I also love the spot plane view. Please …

Hello,I currently have a P4 2.4 GHz, 512 Mb DDR 266 MHz and a GF4 Ti4200 128MB.I am thinking about upgrading my graphics card to a top of the line GeForce FX 5900 Ultra 256 MB or a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB.Which one do you think it is better and what improvement may I get? I currently fly in 1024x768x16 with 2x AA and 2x AF. Around 10 FPS in Overcast clouds... what can I expect with the new card, on the same settings?I've heard the Radeon cards have some issues with other games, besides FS, is that true? Also, adding more 512 Mb of 266MHz RAM make any difference in FPS? I don't have any stutters, just need more speed...Is RAM easy to install? Can I do it at home?I'd like to …

I would like to know if anybody here has regret going from a Geforce 4 to 9800 pro(or 9700 pro) . Was the price to steep for the performance obtained? problems with installation or drivers? My performance in FS2004, which is not bad, has some graphic (loading texture/squares)problems that I want to fix. Any help?? Hi everyone...I'm having a great time with FS2k4, just with a minor problem... clouds. They really kill my framerates.... and so I thought of upgrading my Ti4200 and replace it for a Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB.Do you guys think it will help the performance inside the clouds?Whenever I set an overcast layer, my fps go down to around 10, which is bad and doesn't give a smooth sim. I've tried reducing the cloud sliders, and it helps, but then the overcast isn't an overcast anymore.Should the Radeon help me with that?System specs as follows:Pentium 4 2.4 GHz512 MB RAM DDR 266 MHzGeForce 4 Ti4200 128 MBThanks for your help guys___________________________________________________ Lu

I'm thinking of upgrading my very old Sidewinder to something newer like the Logitech Digital Extreme (non-FF). Does anyone have any experience with this particular stick (especially in FS9!) and what your thoughts might be on it?On a related subject, but not FS related, does anyone have experience with the Logitech Gamepad Rumblepad? I'm thinking of it for another game I have (not for FS, but thought I'd ask anyway). I use Win XP Pro with an ATI Radeon 9800 256 video card and a high end CPU.Thanks very much for any assistance.Glenn

I believe this is a Pentium technology. Question: if I'm purchasing a P4 with HTT, do I need any special type of motherboard to take advantage of it? Or are all of the benefits in the CPU itself?Thanks- I currently have a P4-1.8G and am thinking of extending the life of my motherboard (ABit BD-7II = 845 E/D chipset) by installing a P4-2.8G. This faster CPU comes with HTT.Thanks,Bruce.ABit BD-7IIP4-1.8G1G PC-27008500Pro ATIWinXPw/SP1
