Can someone please tell me what "Antistrophic Filtering" (or "AF") is, in relationship to video cards, and FS in particular? I'm aware of AA and Mip-Mapping and the effect that both of these have on FS, but not AF. I hope I have these terms correct, I'm at work right now.Another video question specific to FS: I assume the settings on the Hardware Tab (Options/Video, as I recall it), like AA, etc. only apply to the Full Screen video, and in Windowed mode the desktop settings are used? Hello fellow simmers,Well........ I got her today Radeon 9800 pro 256 mb DDRII. I installed her in about 2 mins. Current drivers up and running in 5 mins. I set ATI drivers at MAX Quality for EVERYTHING!!Took FS for a spin absolutely phenomenal sharpness. Plan On buying some components this weekend (finally). Which you would suggest. The Asus p4p800 dlx which is an 800FSB with a 2.4 intel, or an Asus p4b533 with an 2.8 intel. Don't know if the 800 with slower cpu speed will yeild better performance. Any advice???Thanks!!!Rob

Okay, I think I've seen everything..As I write this, it is 1728 local time in SC. This morning, at 0630, when I shut the computer down, everything was working perfectly normal.Tonight, I get home and turn it on and there is a translucent, yellow hue on the monitor. Like the glass has been tinted. I've played with the BRG monitor settings but it doesn't have any effect. Bright and Contrast has the usual impact but it's still a translucent yellow. I'm trying to use FlightMAX and it says use small fonts. Well I run windows XP and under the Display Properties settings advanced General page , I have 3 options Custom , 96 DPI and 120 DPI . When I chefck to see if small fonts is in my computer it is and it's loaded. But my clouds and weather in fs Fligthmax are boxes. Any Ideas how to fix? Thanks alot jason

When I would download a file, from AVSIM or it be fileplanet, IE would open up and little window and ask me what I wanted to do with the file, well now all of a sudden it just starts downloading the file to "Temporary Folder" which I have no idea where that is, I looking in the Advanced menu under Internet Tools but found nothing, the only way I can selecet where the file downloads is to right click, save target as then do it, can anyone help me to get that dialog box back?

Hello: I'm preparing to set up a home cockpit. What are the basic hardware requirements in setting up client computers? I know I'll need a case, and at least a 1GHZ processor, good video card, and either a hub or cross-over cables, but past that I'm clueless. I've not found any posts on this. After having trouble running the ATI driver installer for my new Radeon 9800 Pro, I took some excellent advice from Avcomware here and managed to get the drivers installed manually.I installed the drivers by referring the installer to the location where they were unpacked (the latest ones from ATI). Using this manual method, and bypassing the setup.exe, the control panel didn't get installed. When I go to the folder containing the control panel files, there's no installer (setup.exe) present (there is a setup.inx file). How do I install the control panel as a seperate install?Thanks for any advice. Bruce.

Does the primary and secondary displays feed these 2 outputs seperately- and is that a fixed relationship (ie. primary = always VGA output)? Need some ideas on why I can't login to a network.I have a WinME computer that I want to add to my MAGENTA network. It will run PM A320 MCDU and HCSDT A320 OHL.For reasons I can't determine, I can't login to the network. When I start the computer I get the Login in window. The computer name is Mcdu. I leave the password empty and click OK.System boots but I never get the LOG OFF area when I click on Start. I un-installed my old GEForce 3 card in Add/Remove Programs today, then ran Driver Cleaner (Det Destroyer didn't seem to like XP).The driver installs to my nrw 9800 Pro card failed, telling me that it could not see the card, and to go back and install the VGA driver first. DM showed my new card (twice, it's a double head card) under the category "Other Devices" , there was no Video Adaptor device category.ATI support told me that running the third party app (Driver Cleaner) had erased the files that relate to the basic Vidoe Adaptor in DM, and that they were required for the driver install. I have installed a mobile rack in my system, so I will have both a Win98SE system (the current system), and a Win2K system, but not simultaneously. Either one, but not both, of the drives will be in the system. I want to use the Win2K system for everything that I can... getting very tired of Win98's instability. I recall an excellent article on the forums from Chris England on the order to proceed to install a new video card and drivers (May '03?). It refers to Win98 but I'm sure it's applicable to WinXP too. In one of the steps, when Win98 reboots after running Det Destroyer, the procedure warns against installing the "drivers that Win98 wants to", and to install basic VGA drivers instead. I understand why and how. Question: WinXP has more "intelligence" when installing drivers on hardware detection, and often this occurs seamlessly by design.
