I use Microsoft Outlook for my email and this seems to happen often, once I am done with the program, and I go to the Task Manager "OUTLOOK.EXE" is running and this case twice, both using 12 MB of memory but yet my email is closed, so I end both processes and everything is fine, next time I use outlook it works fine and when I close it, the same thing happens, someimtes only one outlook.exe or 2 or 3, one time there were 5 running always using 12 MB of memory, anyone have any ideas on why this happens?http://members.shaw.ca/kstangrecki/resources.jpg

I want to upgrade my video card to a 128mb AGP type card. But after checking out my Intel Desktop D845WN motherboard specs. It has one AGP 4X/2X 1.5V connector. All the cards I see are 8X AGP.Will the 8X AGP card work with my motherboard? Is there a big difference in 4X and 8X?Can I get a 4X AGP 128mb card?Should I just get a PCI video card? I heard FS2004 does not like PCI cards. Thanks for the info.Danny :-beerchug

Hello simmersI just got the ATI Radeon 9800 pro 256 mb. I also just got FS2004. The graphics are absolutely spectacular!! However, there are two MAJORLY ANOYNING BUG with Catalyst 3.6 drivers. 1) When ever you press the alt button to access menues there are about 6 on/off screen flashes EVERY time which is increadily anoying and gives headaches. It might cause seizures which is NO joke. 2) When accessing emmbeded windows such as kneeboard with text scrolls within the text is increadily streched and unreadable which is quite anyoying for the nav log on the kneeboard.Has anyone (Beta Testers) wish FS9 FS2004 been able to find a fix for these two problems? Can someone running…

This started to happen to me about 2 weeks ago, I click "Shut Down", the computer logs off, saves setting then shutsdown, the HD works steady for about 10 seoncds, takes a break for about 5 then normally goes for a couple then turns off, well now it just goes for 10 seconds and sits there, nothing happened, I even let it sit there for 10 minutes, I tried a system restore, that didnt help, I havent updated anything, or installed any new software or drivers, When I turn the computer on the next day it is fine on boot up, no errors or anything, but it still won't shutdown, the only time it will is if you don't log on, but that sorta is impossible, anyone with anyhelp would b…

FS9 is just about unplayable on my old PIII 850 with GF1 card and 256k RAM. FS2002 was fine, even with Mesh, scenery and PAI AI. I'm not sure why this is, but in any case it's time I upgraded.Money- within reason- is not really an object, so I'm considering buying just about the highest spec machine out there ie a PIV 3.2 or an AMD XP 3200.However, I have read that we are on the cusp of a new generation of processors, which are expected to be released this autumn/fall.Therefore my question is this: Is it worth waiting for the new generation of processors to be realeased (ie from a performance and future-proofing point of view) or do you think, in all practicality, I'll ge…

I'm thinking about upgrading my PC in the near future, so I've been looking at new processors. I've heard that FS2004 makes use of hyperthreading if available, but would it make a noticeable difference? The reason I'm asking is that if it's not a noticeable difference, then I will probably go with an Athlon XP, as the prices are much lower (at least at the UK based online suppliers I've looked at :-)). Apart from gaming, the PC will be used for things like digital photo work in Photoshop Elements 2, maybe some basic video editing, nothing too taxing ;-).Thanks,Dave.

Well, this morning I got my new Radeon 9800 Pro, and of course I promptly proceeded to fit it into my rig. However, I am now having a serious problem of which I don't know whether it might be related to the new card or, more specifically, the drivers.I started with uninstalling the old video drivers and rebooting the system as advised, and after rebooting Windows (in 640x480) I shut the rig down, removed the old card and fitted the new one. I then rebooted, and after Windows had loaded up I proceeded to install the ATI Catalyst drivers I had downloaded some days ago. Apparently, my card was detected correctly, and since there was no sign of any kind of trouble I rebooted …

    1) How many of you use the trim wheel on this thing (non USB version)? I'd like to use it, but it seems to just adjust the axis of the control input, and doesn't interface with FS at all. That means that it's difficult to reset between autopilot uses because I now have TWO trims, not to mention the fact that it's impossible to tell where the center position is. Do any of you make marks on the joystick to try and mark center position?2) I've owned this particular flight yoke for about 5 years now, and it's getting a little jerky. What kind of lubrication should I use and where may I get it? I know silicon based stuff is probably right, but I don't know what brand or w…

My card works just fine at all lower res except that when I go to 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution, I get much darker smokier colors everywhere .....so I am stuck on 1280 x 1024.Now I have a Dell 8100 with a 250W PS so I am going to check for voltage drops when I go from my present resolution back up to max 1600 x 1200....but I hear on the Dell Forum that this should not be a problem for my system since ATI recommends 300W for a 9800, and Dell's 250W is actually much higher.I have a [email protected], 512MB of RDRAM, a MAXTOR 80G HD, and all I have in my system is the above plus a disk drive and a CD ROM drive. It's hard to believe that higher resolutions would draw enough current inc…

Hey thanks for your time, I'm looking forward to installing FS 2004 but the PC I have now won't even come close to running it. FS 2002 works ok but the settings are scaled down. What system do you run CPU and type, RAM, Video card and anything else you can think of.... I would like it to also work like a computer..... I have around 500 hours of flying with FS 98, 2000 and 2002. Thanks again for your help, Scot

Hello ! I've got a new HP computer with a P IV 2,2ghz, 770 MO DDR and a really bad Intel GPU... So I'm planing to buy a new GPU. So far, the FX5600 seems to be the best choice, but now I just need to be sure...So if you have a Geforce FX5600, can you tell me if you're pleased with this GPU ? Is it worth buying the FX5600 Ultra (it's more expensive...) or is the FX5600 OK ?Is there a better GPU for the same price as the FX5600 (+- 170

Sorry if I didnt search the fourms enough to find a similer problem. This is whats happening. After my computer has been running for a few hours It totally freezes and wont reboot. If I leave it off for 20+ seconds it will reboot fine and run for another several hours. The "several" hours are dwindeling though, I can now only run for maybe an hour before a lock up. Unless I do the following...Remove the network card or the second sound card. I originally removed the network card because I could wach the router loose connection with my PC shortly before I would freeze up. If I leave the network card off my computer, everything runs great.I tryed removing the second sound car…

I have noticed over the past several months that using both FS2002 and FS2004, I have been getting nasty sound degradation when moving radio stacks, engine gauges etc. to my second monitor. In FS2004, this happens in full screen mode only, not in windowed mode. I'm not sure about that in FS2002 - I have never had to fly it in windowed mode. I am curious if this might be the PCI Matrox card I'm using going bust. I bought a new sound card, an Audigy Gamer - no change. The reason I believe this is that I had no problems when my machine was running a 1.9 gig p4, so I'm not convinced its horsepower. I have upgraded my processor since to a 2.6 gig p4 and my agp card from a ti…

Hello Guruz! After browsing for a day looking at www.robotnik.com I have came across the conclusion of getting a NVIDIA card again --- Not ATI.Looking at the GeForceFX 5600 256MB, not sure that this is the Ultra, but I assume it must be, or it wouldnt be 256mb, right? This card is alot cheaper than the Radeon 9700pro or 9800pro, and I can afford this one. So what are you're thoughts on this card? I am not going to be playing JUST FlightSim, also play things like America's Army, Papyrus Racing Nascar 200X Season, Grand Theft Auto Vice City.Any info, bad things about this card and the good would be appreciated before I take the plunge.

My inexpensive Gravis joystick died. It keeps going full up elevator and I've changed the potentiometer so it's got to be something else.Any recommendations for a new joystick? I'd like it to include throttle and rudder in the same unit. I'd also like it to be durable and precise. The CH Products stuff looks a little pricey:-eek and I'm not too hot on Gravis right now:-erks.The Logitech Extreme Digital 3D is what I'm looking at for about $35US. Does anyone have experience with it?Does anyone have experience with Saitek?
