Made an interesting discovery after reinstalling windows xp. When I reinstalled my LCD monitor drivers I set the refresh rate to 75 instead of 60. The next time I used FS9 my frame rates were terrible(about 1/2 of what I was used to. After a couple of days I tried changing the refresh back to 60 and viola, All was back to normal.sg

A friend and I have been using similar PC components in our separate three-monitor homebuilt cockpits. Two monitors off one nVidia AGP Ti4200 card and the third off a PCI card.He recently upgraded his system and changed from nVidia to ATI. When his 9200 PCI card wouldn't co-operate with his 9800 Pro he emailed ATI for advice. Both of us were very surprised at their reply which I quote:"Radeon 7000 cards and higher are not designed to work in conjunction with any other video card in the same computer"Has anyone had a similar experience? Is this really true? P

I finally bought a Radeon 9800 Pro. I decided to order it from Gateway since they said they would warrant the purchase and installation. They also matched the price ($299) I saw it was at Best Buy. Well, I just opened it up, and here's what I found. A card in a static bag in a generic Gateway box, a Gateway installation guide, and an invoice, for an ATI R350. What's more, no software! I checked the ATI website and entered R350 in a product search. It came back with the 9800 series, and something about a former name for the 9800. I'm concerned that I received a cheaper or older built version of the 9800 Pro, and am curious as to why I never even got any software. I can alw…

I am considering getting a 3D graphics card to use with MS Flight Simulator 2002. Besides running faster, would a 3D card allow me to see more detailed scenery instead of the flat landscapes? Do you think it would allow me to switch cockpit views faster? Thanks.Rich

Hello erveybody! Now I know that there are many guys around here who know what they are talking about when its about computers. So I post that one here.I recently upgraded from an P4 2.4 & Radeon 9800SE to a P4 3.0 & Radeon 9800PRO (for complete specs see below)Nice, ha? But... the problem is, the performane of FS didn't improve with this upgrade.Example: Taxiing around Bill Melichars Honolulu in PMDG 737 (nonVC-model) gives me ~8 (!!!) fps. I already had that with my old specs.Of course I let FS create a new .cfg, and I followed most tweaking tips I found on vorious forums, including this one.The only thing I haven't done yet is a clean reinstall of windows. But c…

I think I know the answer to this but I would like a confirmation. I pickup up a MS Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick USB the other day from a store that was having a clearance sale. I used to have one (which broke a couple of years ago) a still have all the "profiles" that I made for it. Anyway, I am using Windows XP now and I XP see's the new joystick and I can calibrate, etc. However I cannot load the Sidewinder Software to be able to program the buttons, etc. I have searched the web and I am learing that MS did not update the sidewinder software. The software I have is verison 3.02. I see references to Version 4.0 and have downloaded it, but when I open it, the…

HiI've made up my mind what I'm going to upgrade my pc too, but I'm currently unsure to what ATI chipset graphics board I should buy for my 9800 pro 128mb.I've heard that users on this forum are using the Sapphire board and getting good results. Here's a direct link to the different boards available from Overclockers.co.uk (where I'm buying my hardware from) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/ATI...hics_Cards.htmlAny recommendations, and links to reviews for these cards? I've decided to spend my money on a pair of EDimensional 3d glasses. However, when I try to activate the 3d effect in FS9, it keeps crashing with the message that FS has encountered an error and must close. Are there any users of the glasses that have had this problem and resolved it?I'm using a Radeon 9600 Pro with the 6.14.10.6396 driversI tried the latest Catalyst drivers (4.2?) but I got this message when starting FS9 "Invalide Hardware or Driver DetectedThe drivers currently installed for your video card may cause your computer to stop responding when FS is running."My monitor's fastest refresh rate is 85hz (Yes, I know it's not ideal but it'll do for the moment) and…

I have an on-board sound chip, and have currently ordered a PCI sound card. I know how to disable the on-board sound in BIOS. Should I also disable it in Device Manager (WinXP Sp1 Home), prior to doing so in the BIOS , or doesn't it matter to XP (ie. will be ignored if it's not found, and won't cause any interactions with the new card)? If I do want to disable it in DM, is it just a matter of deleting it?Thanks,Bruce.

I built a computer last year and amy quite happy with it, except for the graphics card. I'm looking to buy a better one but don't know what to look for. The most graphically demanding thing I do on my computer is flying on FS2004. I currently have an inno3D Tornado geForce 4 MX graphics card with 64MB of RAM onboard. Hi Guys,I hope this isn't too far off topic, but there are a lot of gurus here that may be able to help without bending over too much backwards. I just downloaded and installed Spybot. Now, I ran the program to search for problems, and considering how long I've gone without it, the list is fairly short (about 11 items). OK, I read the help files on how to get rid of these thingies, but I also read on one good mag that Spybot can be a tad too powerful for someone who doesn't completely understand what is going on, and as such I did not hit the "Fix" button (I was afraid I might "fix" my machine into some sort of oblivion :-) ). Most of the entries refer to registry cha…

Hi!I would like to know what experience you have with regard toperormance with FS2002 and FS9 for the GeForce FX 5900 and 5950.I am about to get a new 3D card and I hear the Radeons can produceblurred images, which makes me reluctant to buying them. So, I am after framerates and good image quality. My present card is almost historic, I guess; it's a GF 4200 Ti,64 MG.Grateful for your comments and advice.......Will I get much improved performance compared to what I have now,you think, with an FX 5900 or 5950?Thanks!Hans HermanssonSweden

Hey everyone.I just bought a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse (Optical) and I'm a little disappointed that the buttons aren't "fully customizable" like the features list says. I am trying to use the 2 side buttons as + and - for the PSS Airbuses, but I'm finding that you can only pick from a select few options Microsoft has preassigned! Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to do this? Thanks very much!
