...or when I load a saved flight. I just upgraded my system from an Athlon 2100+ to a new MB and Athlon 2800+. I am still using the same ATI Radeon 9500 Pro and SoundBlaster Audigy. I reinstalled windows and all drivers (newest versions available). I reinstalled FS9 and started it up. Everything went fine but as soon as I switched to create a flight it crashed to desktop. Same thing happens if I try to load a flight. I don't know what's going on. Everything worked before the upgrade. Also other games work fine as does 3Dmark03. Anybody know of any issues with a 2800+ and FS9 or have an idea what might be going on? I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks,Chris

Hi folks, Would anyone be able to help with a question regarding upgrading ATI graphics cards?I currently have the ATI Radeon 8500 and having upgraded much of the rest of my system, I'm curious to know whether lashing out on a new card (probably one of the '9800' models) would deliver a noticable improvement in FPS/image quality within FS2004.My current system spec is:Athlon XP 2700Gigabyte GA-7N400-L1 (Nvidia NForce2)2*256mb Samsung PC3200 400 DDR RAMATI Radeon 8500 64MB AGPMitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SBMS Windows XP HomeDirectX 9.0AIf someone could give me some indication of the difference I could expect, I'd be very grateful for helping me decide whether It's worth the s…

In the constant never-ending search for a little extra performance , I thought I would give the Auto-overclock option in the last couple of NVidia drivers a chance.I'm using the 56.64 ( as said elsewhere I didn't find the new 56.72 so good).OK ,having selected "auto -overclock" and let the software do it's job , I ran FS9 - the result? well there may have been a slight improvement but nothing to shout about. However, my question is this. when you select auto-overclock , the sliders on the NVidia settings show Zero so you don't in fact know what it has set the system to - is there any way of finding out?If , for instance you knew that it had upped things by 10% on a…

I'm thinking of getting one but have 2 chief concerns...1.) I love flying at night and I'm worried that the "black of the night" won't be too black and that there will be visible ghosting on a night approach into an airport when the background is black against the approach and/or VASI lights (even with the 16 ms response time)2.) Running the LCD outside its native resolution. Instead of 1600 x 1200, I'd thought about doing 1024 x 768 to keep my frames up. What will this look like on this monitor? Can anyone with these displays please comment? THANKS!

Hello,After asking loads of people, I still cannot fix this flaw I get in fs9 with the graphics.I have a radeon 9800 pro, I have never touched the overclocking frequencies or anything. This glitch happens when I press ALT to bring up the menu inside full screen mode. It goes away when I close the menu. Also, after pressing ALT the mouse turns into an egg timer and I have to wait around 10 seconds before the menu appears.I am on the 3.9 Omega drivers, I still have this problem with every other driver.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/68343.jpgRegards,Alexander Martin.

I recently installed the latest ATI Catalyst 4.3 drivers which has resulted in quite a substantial and welcome improvement in fps over my previously installed 3.5 drivers, however I also seem to have aquired some not quite so welcome side effects:-1) Gauges are very blurred and impossible to read.2) Shimmering scenery textures, primarily trees.3) Flashing aircraft textures, but only from tower view.My grapics card is a now ageing Radeon 8500 128mb (seems like only yesterday it was the best available)Could someone please suggest some settings which might help me, and also which settings are best adjusted from the ATI control panel and which are best done from within FS.Man…

I recently bought a new P4 3.2 MHz computer with one GB of system RAM and to go with it I purchased an XFX (nVidia) 5600 video card with 256MB of video RAM. There is no overclocking going on. I am running using the Windows XP Home operating system and DirectX 9.0b. I have used two nVidia driver sets since I got the computer - I started with nVidia driver version 56.55 and now have 56.64 installed. Both exhibit the problem described below. Overall, I would have to say the system runs FS2004 pretty well -no obvious stutters with sliders most of the way to the right - except for a perplexing video problem. It is definitely time dependent and perhaps, but not definitive…

I am an old man and started working with computers when DOS 1.0 was the operating system. I knew how to format disk drives and reinstall operating systems; but I have had a problem since the time disks drives got bigger than 1 gig....What software are you guys using to reformat these big disk drives into one partition? Mine is 75 gigs, whoopee! I know... I have used PartitionMagic in the past with not so good results...In a nut shell, I would like to reinstall Windows XP so I can have a brand new Registry; How should I go about it??Thanks for all comments,Stuart

I have Sony Vaio Studio 2.8GHz and tons of ram. I just installed the ati9800 pro 128MB. Although the frame rate has jumped, I still get jerky frame redraws when banking over Chicago in lousy weather at dusk. I've turned all display parameters to max thinking I finally had a system that could do it all. Do I need to get the 9800 xt to accomplish this? I was hoping to save some bucks. Thanks,Bruce

HiI just thought I would post about a problem I've had recently that I've just managed to fix.Since upgrading to a XFX Nvidia FX5950 Ultra I've been having problems, with FS seemingly randomly freezing. The mouse would seem to stop responding, and so would any programs running. However if the mouse was moved and then you wait for 30 seconds, the pointer would then jump to the new position, so it was not a true crash, just very very slow! This problem only seemed to occur in FS2004, FS2002 was fine and so were a number of other games, as well as the 3Dmark2003 benchmark program. It did not seem to be heat related, and reinstalled my vga, sound and mainboard drivers to no …

Hi all, I'm not much of a computer buff (but I'm learning!) I've been trying to make some sense out of the various postings concerning video cards. I've not long updated my system (again!) when converting from FS2002 to FS9. (I've had flight Sims since the early days of Dragon and Commodore computers so I'm reasonable adept at understanding the settings of the FS programs and its facilities etc.)I now have an AMD 2700+ motherboard, with 1 gig of RAM and an FX5600 nVidia card. (I do hope all the technical terms are correct) I have to say I'm not all that impressed with the graphic display of the FS9 - compared with FS2002- in light of the increased clout the new bits were…

I am baking two loafs of bread in one oven........I had to do my 90 day thing and I also wanted to report on my new PC that I recently purchased.......I bought the Athlon 64 3400+, with 2 gigs of ram and a GeForce 5950 Ultra with 256 ram. All I can say is WOW!!!FS2004 is getting 40 to 50 framerates on the ground and 70 to 110 in the air!!! I have all sliders to the right(Max) and have the antilansing checked.....WOW!I only hope this machine will be good enough for FS2006!Well, thanks for reading!Paul
