Well, I am finally getting my new FS computer on Tuesday. I have thought about the best way to get everything transferred from my old one to the new one. I plan on doing a clean install of FS9, obviously, but I have all that scenery and all the aftermarket aircraft and AFCAD.My current thought is to just temporarily install my old hard drive on the new system and copy aircraft, scenery, texture and add-on scenery folders over the newly installed folders. This seems quicker than reinstalling everything one by one. Any thoughts on this method? Also, any efficient alternative methods that I might consider, or perhaps a thread addressing this? Thanks in advance for any help…

Ok, I just helped a friend build a new system, and he bought an AMD Athlong XP 2400+, so when we first turned it on, only showed up as an 1800+, we just said, we'll worry about it later, so got XP up and running, and all up to date, but Windows, and the Bios detect the prcessor as an 1800+, anyone have any ideas why? His MOBO is a Soyo SY-K7VMP2

I'm probably not supposed to post this here but I'm getting quite desperate!!This morning after disconnecting my dial-up connection to the web my PC all of a sudden is running at a snail's pace. After a reboot it can take up to 10secs just to get through the Desktop into My Computer. Opening any folder in Program Files can take 10 secs too! When I go into Task Manager I see that my CPU is running at 100%, which is split approx 30% System & System Idle Process, 50-60% svchost.exe & 10-20% msnmsgr.exe even though I have no applications/programs running!Up until this happened & straight after a fresh reboot etc. I would get a System Idle Process of 99% with the rem…

Hello,to get max performance in FS2004 it does not only need a good graphics card like NV5950 or ATI 9800XT but also a good overall system configuration. These are my results in optimizing the RAM to CPU connection.Companies like ASUS claim to offer a speed improvement with their mainboards up to 30% without loosing warrenty.Let's see.In my case the ASUS PC-DL mainboard offers to overclock the FSB (Front Side Bus) from 133 to 165 Mhz in the BIOS. (Using special software tools I can raise to FSB much higher from within Windows.) Additionally, you can select a 5:4 RAM-FSB ratio in the BIOS which means the RAM modules will be clocked always 25% faster than the FSB. In 1:1 con…

Hello,More problems I know, but when I installed the 4.3 catalyst drivers on my 9800 Pro, I get bad results in FS.When I go back into full screen from windowed mode, the screen goes black, until I press ALT for the menu bar, then it is all ok again.Anyone else have this problem?Regards,Alexander Martin.

When I recently ran FS2002 for a short while, I realised how poor was the FS2004 AI aircraft , ATC and other on screen labels definition compared with the earlier FS.The fonts and colours lack definition and clarity and are far harder to see quickly than those in FS 2002.I wonder if anyone has any tweaks for Win XP if FS 2004 which could help?

Did anyone read the results and notice FS2002 was used for the tests? Seems odd since most of us are using FS2004. Cant understand why they did that. Was of no benefit to me at all.Bill

I have a very low budget for new video hardware for my system. my local Staples has the PNY Verto GForce 5200 and the ATI Radeon 9200 for the same price.... $99.99. of the two which should I chose? By the way I'm still running Win 98 so drivers may be an issue for the GForce card.Brian

I now have a 17" Belinea monitor bought 5 years ago. I wonder if I would get a 19" monitor how much would that enhance my flightsim?I now use 1024*768 32 and 85 Hz. With a 19" I read that 1280*1024 is the recommended resolution and they often have a update frequence around 100 Hz. How much does this make? Also if I run FS9 at 1280*1024 instead of 1024*768 how much will I lose in performence?I think Fs2002 was designed with an optimal resolution of 1024*768.What is the case with FS9?

Hi, I have a little problem having my fs9.exe being all the time at 97-100% and slows down badly... seems to do like that CTHELPER being at 100% that i got rid off now but I am pretty sure that if i knew what to do on that little prob I have and run like some people at 20-50% that my game should run muchhhh faster and at higher frames with better graphics... help me out on this please, because I go crazy especially that i bought a new Geforce 5600FX 256MB (had a geforce 4 MX 64 MB) and the game looks nicer but not really faster and can even go over my previous settings or it become unplayable...System Info :XPAMD 2.6 Mhz512 RamFX5600 256 MBSB Live 5.1 + 5.1 logitech syste…

This morning - it being a absolutely foul day (rain- gales - typical English spring day) I started poking around in the depths of all my saved .exe files with a view to deleting those no longer needed and found I still had 3D Mark 2001SE saved . So, curious as to how it would see things I installed it on both my OS( I have dualboot WinME - seldom used, and WinXP on this PC - this is where FS9 is).I then ran the standard benchmark test.Surpise ,surprise----The winME system , still using the old 44.03 drivers installed ages ago scored 9000+ while the WinXP - using the latest 56.64 only made about 8200.Curious about this I d/loaded the old 44.03s for WinXP, created a …

I have never before installed new video drivers because I've always been afraid that I couldn't get back to the old setup if I didn't like the new drivers. However, I'm about ready to take the plunge so please bear with my newbie questions. I have an Alienware computer with a Radeon 9800 card and Windows XP.1st question: If I run the cat-uninstaller program and then I don't like the new driver can I restore the system to its previous driver (without downloading an old driver again)?2nd question (actually two): I know there is a driver rollback feature available. Does this mean that it's silly to set a restore point before doing this driver changeover? Does the rollbac…
