  1. I'm still in the FS2004 world with my DELL XPS Gen 4 and a 7900 GTO card (512MB). Despite 2GB of RAM and a 3.80 Intel P4 processor, the performance of the sim very specifically in the VC of complex add-ons such as PMDG with a Triplehead2Go set-up varies from generally pretty good to not so great. I mostly find that the combo of light to medium clouds, dense airports and cities, and modest AI traffic (Ultimate Traffic) in the arrival area reduces my frames greatly, often not exceeding 10 to 12 on approach which is in the Land of Stuttering. Visual fluidity is usually superb in SPOT and FLY-BY views with these add-ons, with frames averaging 30 and often hitting 50 or 60 …

HiI hope this may be of some use to someone but I have recently been working hard at getting the stutters off of my fsx system. I run a quad core Intel PC with sli GTX graphics cards and 2 gb ram. In my case the critical step in getting rid of the stutters was to reduce the number of cores running to 3 using the affinityMask= switch. The program ran smoother with *less cores running but with more b lurries and on my system this gave the best cimpromise. I now get frame rates of 30 or so with most settings except ai traffic and autogen maxxed out and little stutter. Before this switch was stuttery as anything.Hope this is of useMark

  8. Upgrading from an AthalonXP 2600 (2ghz) to:ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA LGA 775 motherboardCPU will be Core2Duo 4300 or 4400. Taking cheapest upgrade path..$$..With this board I can keep my AGP ATI9800SE video card, the power supply, the PC3200 DDR memory and wait for DX10 PCIe and the opportunity to scrap everything and move on up. I plan to overclock the CPU to 2.4ghz (4300) or 2.8 ghz(4400).So, my question is - does anyone have any experience with something near this system? Any pitfalls? The possible pitfalls are the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA LGA 775 motherboard and the value of an overclocked Core2Duo (lo-end) in FSX??Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke

I just got a new Vista E6700 computer and installed FSX with Sp1 and I'm now getting choppy distorted sounds when running FSX...the sound is fine in all other applications and music. Thinking it might be caused by the integrated sound I purchased a SB sound card and downloaded the latest drivers but still had the same crappy sound. I then decided it must be the Direct X drivers so I went to the MS site to download the June DirectX end-user runtime installer but when I run the setup I keep getting the message "Setup could not download the file...Please retry later" I've been getting this message for two days even though the internet is connected and the firewall disabled…

I really have to admit that using Vista with the new NVidia 158.24 drivers and ADDING a 2 GIG thumbdrive to one of my USB ports.....and activating "ReadyBoost", I have totally experienced the best flying with FSX since SP1.I use UT, FS Genesis, and Cloud 9 for the U.S. and Europe. I have Autogen at Normal and Scenery at Extremely Dense. I'm set to Unlimited Frames, and let FS control the AA and AF.Seattle is at least 5-8 frames higher (17-25) and my home airport, KABE is totally smooth and without the slightest stutter. My load times with UT even seem to be 20 secs or so faster. I flew during the daytime, dusk, and nighttime.ReadyBoost didn't seem to make much of a diffe…

Since I purchased my Vista computer with IE7 I am constantly having to sign in every time I go to a website like AVSIM that requires a password. I have no trouble initially signing in but the information is not remembered from session to session. I have turned off all cookie controls in my CA Firewall and in IE7 have added sites like Avsim to my "always allow" privacy list. I have tried different privacy setting from low to medium high with no success.Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a question in regard to Core2Duo's & QuadCore's. I currently have a Conroe 6600 Core2Duo on a P5B-E motherboard and was wandering if I have to turn on something in the setup in FSX or the hardware to have it take advantage of the Core2 processor or does FSX automatically sense that the processor is dual core.I have read on this forum that the Core2Duo's are supposed to perform better than the other processor's that are not duo's. Is this were the SP1 mod comes into play? Also, if I were to upgrade to a Quad-core, approximately how much more would it cost to do so and what would be the advantages over my existing 6600...jack

I will be posting this question at FSUIPC Forums as well but I'd appreciate some 'hands on' advice from users of the full version of FSUIPC. My intention is to purchase the full version this coming week, purely, in an attempt to stabilise the inputs of my joystick (Logitech Extreme 3D Pro) to FS9 which, I understand, has many shortcomings in this area. Bottom Line: Does FSUIPC dispell the necessity of tedious recalibration of the previously mentioned joystick inputs? It almost drives me 'spare'. I absolutely concede that there are better input devices out there but this is the one I have and in other areas (viz: Combat Flight Sims) it is more than adequate. FS9, not so. Y…

I have a G25 wheel and pedal setup and am curious how I can setup my pedals as rudder along with the yoke. Is this possible? I would think it should be, although it seemed I can only assign one axis for rudder. I'd like to have the gas pedal be right rudder and the clutch left rudder. When I was using a joystick before the yoke, all the pedals and buttons were active to be used in FSX. Once I installed the yoke, the G25 at present is not active in FSX.Thanks guys!Todd
