Some time ago when I increased RAM(DDR PC3200)from .768 to 1.28GB, I got a 20%+ boost in performance. Question: if I now increase RAM to a full 2GB (2 matching sticks), am I likely to see a further gain? And since the Motherboard has 3 memory slots, would RAM in excess of 2GB accomplish anything? Here's the system: FS9 running TRIPLE VIEWS LFwd,Fwd,RFwd over 3 monitors giving a 180+

Hi Gang.I'm still on the 93.71 drivers, and I noticed that there are now 94.24 drivers out.would there be any real point do you know, of changing the drivers and all that goes with it for FS9. Has anyone done this and noticed anything improved at all.I wish they could fix the issue of the a/c not showing up in the viewer if you have your settings up high! Thanks.I'm running a Gainward Bliss 7800 GS Special Edition 512MB Graphics card on Win XP Pro, with FS9.1 and SP2. plus I have 2 Gigs of RAM on a ABIT IC7 Max3 Motherboard.

I have an Asus A8N32-SLI delux, and run a RAID0 array. If I update the BIOS, what (if any) effect does the BIOS update have on the RAID setup? I believe the 2 are quite separate to each other, but thought I would ask :)Thanks- Bruce.

Hi all, many thanks to all who have helped with my other problems. Here is the next one I would appreciate some help with.I have succesfully installed an AMD Athlon 4200+ Dual Core and all is running well.I have it to run at 10% overclocked in the Bios which is a simple thing to do.It is running at 2420.However I would like to increase this but can only do so manually. Can someone give me some guidance on how to do this.I have the confidence to do it but am not sure exactly how.I'm not being funny guys but please SIMPLE step by step instructions with no jargon and definately not too technical.ASUS A8N-E MotherboardAthlon 64 4200+ Dual CoreAti RX800 TD256E GraphicsThanks in …

I'm *this* close to buying a new system mainly for FS9 purposes - the P4 2.4/GeForce4 Ti 4200/512MB RAM combo isn't cutting it anymore (in fact, it has really never cut it with FS9, to the point where it's now impossible to use).I'm thinking about the following setup:# Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6600 2.4GHz FSB 1066, 4MB CPU# 2048MB DDR II 800 Memory 240 Pin# ASUS P5B Deluxe Mother Board w/ WiFi# eVGA GeForce 7950 GT KO 512MB DVI, HDTVplus HD, audio and all, but I'm more interested in comments on the above itemized list. Any comments on the CPU, and particularly the graphics card (open to suggestions here of course), would be appreciated. What could I expect in FS9 with suc…

Looking at my budget, it would be the wisest idea for me to stay away from core duos atm because I need to be saving up money for other 'bills'.thinking of a 'cheap/easy' way to upgrade my computer, I'm thinking about getting a FX-55... The reason I want this one spefically is because my motherboard can only handle up to a FX-55 according to the manufacturer....so will this give me a good FPS bump? I usually lag in busy areas (like anywhere in US where there is a addon place, such as Fly Tampa's KMIA) especially when landing, and it really takes the fun out of it. hello,I am debating either purchasing an ATi 2900XT or an 8800 Ultra for FSX for use in Vista, and with the upcoming DX10 patch. I know for a fact that the ultra can wipe the floor with the ATi in some reviews, but is this the case with FSX? Especially considering there is the new SP coming up? I especially wanted to go with the ATi as it gives a better image quality (very small difference of course, I'm just fussy) and that FSX is supposedly having problems with the 8800?Thanks!

Hi!I have a problem with the game. I cannot disable antialiasing. I have my Radeon 9800 Pro set to AntiAlias "Application" setting, and Antialias unchecked in fsx. I have also tried manually entering AntiAlias=0 under my Graphics card settings in fsx.cfg.No matter what I do, Antialiasing remains, and it's eating my fps.I'm currently running the latest Omega Drivers for my ATI card, but i have tried the latest Ati drivers too, and they didn't help. What the heck could be wrong here?Anyone familiar w this issue?Athlon XP3000+1GB RAMRadeon 9800 Pro

My sound card, Sigma Tel, sees to be older and the drivers are formm 2005 and upadates will no work with vista. I wonder if the sound card is the bottleneck? How much can a sound card effect performace?

I've been running mine with 77.77 drivers for several years, and no problems with fs9 or FSX. But today I had my first CDT, plus a Microsoft error message blaming Nvidia drivers and recommending an update. I've tried several times in the past to install later drivers, but without success, so have reverted to 77.77. However, it seems I should try again. Question: which to choose this time? If your 6800 runs well with stable drivers, I'd appreciate a word of advice.Athlon 4000+Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT2 mb RAM77.77 drivers

Is it still 93.71 (2 Nov, 2006) or 94.24 (31 May, 2007)? Somewhere I read use FX driver which is 93.71 with 7950 but then if I look at the 7-series drivers which presumably the 7950 is, 94.24 is the latest. Thanks in advance.KemoF15

  17. I've been simming for only about 7 months now, and I'm already into this hobby for many dollars and, man am I overwhelmed by the specs and choices in video cards! I've read tons here, but I'm still unsure as to what to get for my new Dell. I fly FS9 about 90% of the time and FSX for GA near my home. I love FS9 but wouldn't mind flying FSX more often. My system is brand new and is dedicated solely to MSFS (specs are listed in my signature below).I got on NewEgg.com and narrowed down the field to the 4 cards listed on the attached 3 jpg files. My search was based on 3 main criteria: price under $200.00, 512k of memory, and (somewhat arbitrarily) PCI Express interface. …

I have FS9 profiles set up for my 6800XT.I have it set to 4x aa and 16x af. It has been working fine, until trhe last few daysAs soon as I run FS9.exe it seems like the profile won't take...well, it will, but the second I change to a different aircraft the AA and AF goes away. This is for FS9 and FSX....and I'm guessing the rest wouldnt work eitherIt's quite strange actually. I can however, use a global profile and force the AA and AF and then it works fine.Maybe something happened with the registry etc??Or my card just crappin out?

  20. I just happened to drive past a CompUSA last night, so I went in and asked a few questions of the kid who was working the video card department and I ended up buying a PNY GeForce 7600 GS with 512mb DDR, for $169.00 knowing that I could return it. I had some surprising driver installation problems (black screen, things like that) but once I got it working in my new Dell Dual Core it seemed to work great. It made a huge difference with FSX!After installation, and while running FS2004 and WideView on my 2 computers, the pre-dawn ground scenery of South Jersey approaching KPHL (my home airport) seemed really dense on the new Dell system with the new PNY card - a lot of house…

I'm curious to know what people's experience has been running both FS9 and FSX on any of the Dell XPS desktop systems? My current system, about 5 years old, has an Intel 2.53 Ghz P IV, 1.5 GB ram, and a very dated GeForce TI 4400 Graphics card. When it's behaving well, I can get acceptable performance out of it, but over time it begins to suffer. I am one of the group of people who doesn't necessarily want to spend a vast majority of my time researching what components would work best, as every time I try, there's a multitude of suggestions and recommendations out there. Unless someone out there can suggest/recommend/build one, I'd rather start with a base system and star…

The CH Products yoke has transformed my flight sim experience but I'm always looking to tweak FS2004 and make it better.Of course, I'm not overly happy with the lack of smoothness in the "in and out" movement of the yoke and I was wondering what others are doing to overcome that shortcoming, over and above software settings -- if anything. I've purchase the registered version of FSUIPC and tried to tweak it that way, and have had some limited success, but the yoke still doesn't have a realistic, smooth slide to it and can be frustrating at times, especially when I'm flying a 737 or 777 and come out of a steep turn -- It takes me a good 2 or 3 minutes to re-trim the aircr…

  23. Hi Gents,My current system is an MSI 865PE intel chipset motherboard, P4 3.0 HT, 1GB PC3200 RAM, and a 6800GT video card. It runs FSX fairly well, but without any traffic. I don't want to invest in a good (i.e. expensive) new computer until the bugs are out of the DX10 patch. I was thinking of getting one of those low cost 4300 core duo chips and overclocking it in the meantime to hold me over. My question is: should I get a top of the line motherboard that will handle the next generation intel processors or should I just get the cheapest motherboard that will overclock the 4300? I'm concerned that If I buy a good motherboard now, it will be absolete in 6 months and I'll …
