Hi Captains, I need some help. It's about the ATC repeat and traffic silenceThe problem has started in the FS9 when the ATC voice disappears. I've tried lots of things to bring it back, but nothing brought it again. So I've tried with the FSX and the same problem continues, the difference is that sometimes the ATC or ATIS speak anything and repeat 2 or 3 times the same word and stop. I can

I just bought a new Dell XPS with quad core processor and dual 8800 GTX cards. It has Vista and FSX onit. I set up dual monitors and it works great with any application except Flight Simulator. The monotors blink on for 1 second, then black for 1 second on the noff and so on. This it is impossible to fly. I reverted back to 1 monitor (a Dell flat 24" panel). The second one was a Dell 21" CRT type. Why problems running FSX and not anything else.Paul

  3. Hi all,Just wondering if anyone has attempted to configure the CH Throttle Quadrant in FSX for multi engine ops.Firstly what is the numbering convention for multi engined aircraft?Secondly I have a couple of questions if you have achieved the above.1. Can you configure the left 2 piston engines to be operated by the left lever of each of the pairs, throttle, RPM and mixture?2. Any suggestions for the toggle switches for the front.3. In Vista, is there any need for the accompanying CD which only has the latest OS to be XP?Any information would be extremely helpful. With thanks,Chris Porter:-outtaPerthWestern AustraliaIntel Core 2 Duo E6700ASUS P5N32-E SLI Deluxe Motherboar…

Am contemplating buying a 24" TFT monitor. It will be used for both FS9/FSX as well as DVD, office and graphic design applications. Thus far I have considered the following models:Samsung 244TSamsung 245BWDell 2407WFPI understand the Samsung 244T to be a very high quality display, and given Samsung's good name in the display market wondered how the much cheaper TN panel of the Syncmaster 245BW fares against MVA/PVA panels.Certainly visual quality is important, although I do feel that the 244T is perhaps more than I am likely to pay for a display.Anyone have good or bad experiences with a 24" monitor? Thanks in advance.Scratch1964Intel Conroe E6700Asus P5W DH DeluxeCorsai…

Well,I completed my build with my specs below. I was struggling to maintain detail and 25 fps most anywhere, avoiding major airports and traffic almost entirely, with a blurry mess below me. Not anymore. I just flew into IAH with traffic on, sliders almost all to the full right, I can hardly type it was so nice - NO BLURRIES NO STUTTERS......This build cost me 1200 bucks, since I gave my wife the old box, and had to build from absolute scratch....case, mouse, power supply, I could not re-use anything. The E6750 is running STOCK, not overclocked a bit, and I have a Zalman cooler on it, so I can play with its potential later on down the road. But right now, I don't nee…

Hi, first ever post so go easy on me ;-)I'm just about to buy a Mac Pro Intel G5. Getting a PC is not an option for me so let's not even go there (there's various reasons for this). Also let's skip the whole PC vs MAC debate this time around :-)Being a massive flight sim fan I look forward to FSX on the windows XP partition (BootCamp). Here's my choices regarding hardware:- CPU: Either TWO 3.0GHz DUAL-CORE INTEL XEON "Woodcrest" (=Quad core performance) ...Or TWO 3.0GHz QUAD-CORE INTEL XEON "Clovertown" (=8-core) Not sure how much the 8-core would benefit FSX (if at all).- RAM: Either 4GB or 8GB (667MHz DDR2 fully buffered ECC memory)- Graphics: Either ATI Radeon X1900 X…

There seems to be no reset button on the Antec Sonata-II case I bought on eBay. It is used so something may be missing since it was not in great shape. There is a connection to the mother board for reset. But there is no evidence of a reset switch/button on the case. The Book is no help. ????Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke

Anandtech has been exploring the Out of Memory issue with a couple of articles. We've been talking about this (a couple of threads down) but this is getting more interesting. Anandtech's first article is here: http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdoc.aspx?i=3034They describe that Vista constantly runs a forecast (an EsTiMate) of the amount of memory a program will need in the future. This estimate does not consider how much ram is installed in the system or is currently in use. For instance during a flight, Vista and FSX will engage in a running dialog about how much memory they believe FSX might require in the future. If this estimate goes beyond 2 GB, Vista will abruptl…

Hi everyone,I recently installed a new E6600 in my rig. I was very happy with my initial performance, and since then I've been messing with clock speeds and such. Once I settled on a clock speed (2.88 up from 2.4 Ghz) I noticed that my performance in FS was very volatile - there would be flashes of 40 FPS, and flashes of 5 FPS, but things would generally stay around 20FPS, which is worse than I was getting initially. After playing around with settings for a bit, I tried turning off Vanderpool (Hyperthreading) in the BIOS. It was like a different computer - suddenly I was steady at 30FPS.What's going on here? Are multi-core CPUs not supposed to use Vanderpool? Thanks for…

Hi all.I currently have an older Creative Audigy 2 card that came with my system about three years ago. It works fine but I have been thinking about getting one the newer Creative Cards like the X-Fi ExtreamGamer card. At Newegg its just $83. They also have the "professional" version of the card for $145, I'm not sure what the big difference is.If I upgrade to the X-Fi will there be big difference from the Audigy 2? Would it be worth it, would FS9 sound significantly better?Any recommendations?

I need either plans for or a pre-built chair that can a accommodate my 6'3" frame comfortably... with plenty of armrest room. And :( have those armwrests long enough for me to mount my throttle and joystick on the ends.Anyone know of any affordable solutions? Thanks!

  23. I'm in doubt to upgrade from a D940 running with 10% OC to a Q6600 to get more fps and maybe to load the add-ons to the 3e and 4e core if possible. Now I use the affinity settings with the add-ons on the second core and both are running at 100%. I know the C2D is much more efficient than the older Dual but is this giving me a improvement of about a 5 to 10 more FPS ?I have in use the Gigabyte 8I945-pro with the D940 and 2x 1Gb 533 DDR2 ram and a Nvidia 7600GT. I can't upgrade all in one time so I was thinking about a new MB and the Q6600 and use the 2Gb 533 ram for a while and upgrade at the end og the year with a new generation videocard and faster ram.Any advice please.…
