Hello!Well, after using my recently purchased AudioFX vibration headsets for a couple of weeks now, I have to say that I am very impressed! These headsets really add to the flight sim experieince by providing engine vibrations through the headsets. This makes you feel like you are really in the aircraft.I was a little bit sceptical before I bought the headsets due to some posts that wern't favorable to these types of hardware products, but after reading many favorable reviews about the eDimensional ones, I decided to give them a try. The headsets cost $50, not much more than a couple of add-ons, so I figured it was worth the risk.Needless to say, I am very pleased with how…

i started a thread last week inquiring about the TH2GO. and well, i finally got my hands on one. it's pretty awesome. three monitors makes the experience that much better. it takes a little getting used to, though.anyway, here's a short video of the new setup in action:http://www.fszone.org/videos/displayimage.php?pid=823unfortunately, the X1950PRO that i had just bought a few months ago was no good since the TH2GO doesn't work too well with ATI cards. so i replaced it with a 7800GS to get a higher resolution. right now, i'm running FS9 at 3840x768 (that's triple 1280x768) to get a good widescreen aspect ratio for my 19" widesceen monitors. it's not running at native reso…

What to do, what to do?I was really thinking about buying a Geforce 8600GTS but after some resarching it just doesn't seem good enough with it's 128-bit Memory Interface. I am now considering the GeForce 8800 GTS for a $100 more with 320-bit memory interface. And then I hear this thing about DX10.1 comming out some time soon with vista sp1 and the 8800 will not support all the features of DX10.1. Now i am seriously thinking of sticking it out a bit longer to see what comes it the future. I found this article: http://www.insidehw.com/content/view/172/35/ - not sure if it is true, but it states a Gforce 8700 will be comming out in November. It's would be perfect because it …

My quad core temps are below running FSX, and under full 4 core load,if you can post yours adding other details too it would be great...Note: With the quads, most cpu core temp monitors are low by 15C. Except Rightmark CPU Clock utility which is correct, or with SpeedFan 4.32 you can add a +15C offset to the core temps.I like speedfan as you can watch your temps, cpu load, and control the fan speeds too, (run Speedfan as admin in Vista to see all info)CPU: Q6700 G0Clocked at: 3Ghz (300x10)vCore: 1.2625 bios, 1.23 SpeedfanMB: Asus P5K DeluxeCase: Basic Antec case 2x 120mm fans, and cpu side fanRoom Temp: 23CSystem Temp: 37C Idle, 46C loadCPU Core Temps: 38C Idle, 49-55C 1 …

ok, got my system up and running - using Speedfan the core temps at idle are 19 - 22C at ambient 25C so the liquid cooler seems to be working. Used Coretemp and same set showed 32C??????Unlinked the memory, disabled various suggested items in BIOS. Left memory at auto timings, left all voltages at auto. Increased FSB to 1300 - orthos runs two cores at 50% for an hour with no error and temps on the two cores got to 32C. Ran Prime95 torture test - used all 4 cores at 25% but crashed after 9 minutes altho temps stayed around 22 on all cores. Trying to go over 1300 gets me a BSOD from XP. Going over 1400 gets me a CMOS reset.Only way to get max usage of the cores was to run s…

I've seen barely anything on this combo- an image of a single sell sheet and the gogamer page and a tiny bit on www.saitekusa.com. That's it.The yoke of course looks cool, but that's all the info I have right now. As we know, looks mean little in the long run! There's some add on modules too that I can find zero info on right now, don't know what they do, bu they're designed to work with the yoke. The yoke does have a stopwatch for timing your approaches :)Thanks

One resolution to a problem I'm having (see link below if curious) would be to use a P4 2.8 ghz cpu in place of the 3.2 ghz cpu that I have been using for a few years. The pc has now been running with a resource- intensive aquarium screensaver for over five days with the 2.8 cpu and there has been no problem at all. Put the 3.2 back in and system shuts down and on reboot I get a thermal event message as reason for the shut down.I'm wondering if it would it be a dramatic drop in performance or a barely visible one?If not for Flight Simulator, it probably would not be an issue and I would just leave the 2.8 in there. I still might leave it anyway due to the problem I've be…

Is the Intel Q6600 worth its money for simming with FSX? Is the performance increase of FSX really that significant with a Quad core?I am looking into getting a new rig for simming and Tileproxy development and I wonder if the 250 Euros (~320 dollars) are a well spent investment for a Q6600 Quad Core CPU.Complete PCs with Quad Core CPUs are available starting at about 600 Euros in Germany, not including the Operating System license. That is about 800 dollars, give or take.Christian

Who chose to stick with the original INTEL fan that came with the processor (core 2)? If not, what was your choice of replacement? I am looking ahead to getting a new system and this should help me decide.Thanks.Abe

Anandtech has followed up on this issue:http://www.anandtech.com/systems/showdoc.aspx?i=3060To review, 32 bit operating systems have a maximum of 4GB of Virtual Memory space available. This has nothing to do with the physical memory that is installed in the computer. This strictly a software issue. The lower 2 GB of Virtual Memory are for the programs. The upper 2 GBs are for the operating system. Vista is currently using much more of the lower 2 GB of virtual memory space than XP for game play. This has made Vista prone to chronic OOM game crashes. XP is a lot Less vulnerable to the dreaded Out Of Memory (OOM) crash than Vista. Some Vista users have set a "3 Gig Switch" …

Hello all!I've built from scratch several pcs over the years primarily based around specs to run MSFS with the high frames. A couple of years back, I started tinkering with overclocking and have been somewhat successful considering the processor (an Intel 3.4 oc'd to 3.8 mghz). Now I'm planning a new build, likely with the Intel 6750 processor and contemplating the plunge into water cooling. It seems like such a chore to setup and maintain. That's not to mention what seems like a complex situation to begin with. Can any of you advise of your experience with water cooling, if you're happy with it, was it worth the trouble, etc.? Are you using a kit or did you custom build…

hey everyone,my fiancee just got me a new monitor for my birthday, which means i now have three!!! right now, it's just hooked up via a second PCI video card. as you can imagine, this does nothing to help extend the virtual cockpit.so i would like to get the TH2GO. i know that with ATI cards, the max resolution you can get is 2400x600. that kinda blows, but i decided to try FS9 with two monitors spanned to 1600x600 and it wasn't so bad. it's not great, but i can handle it.anyway, i know matrox added widescreen support for the analog version. my question is, does anyone know if these added resolutions will work with ATI cards? or are they still stuck at 2400x600? i was hop…

Is there anything special I need to do to FSX, i.e. delete and rebuild .cfg file after installing my Q6600, or will FSX (with SP1 of course) wake up, smell the coffee, and do the required magic by itself?I know, I know...deleting the .cfg file is an easy exercise, but rebuilding all those joystick and other settings ain't!TIA,bt

For years I have been useing Microsoft Bookshelf (Various updated versions) for reference work (Encylopedia, Dictionary, etc.). I am afraid my CD's have about run their course. One of my favorite features is the ability of the program useing audio to pronounce words out loud. For example, if you searched for Mother Teresa, the program in addition to displaying information can say her name out loud over your speakers.Does anyone have Encarta 2006 premimum, or 2007 premium or know if these products have this audio feature to pronounce words? Also, is it possible to do a full install of either of these programs on one's hard disk so that the CD/DVD does not always have to be p…

I have an e6600 with 2 gigs of ram and a 7600gt. I have my e6600 at 3 ghz with 1.4v. Before I overclocked, i had steady frames locked at 30 with all high settings and 1680x1050. Now with my 36600 at 3 ghz i get 10 FPS on the ground. Anything that might fix this?
