Hi...I recently updated my nvidia-driver to the newest (162.18), and since then my framerates seems to have dropped alot. I'm getting 5-8 fps, maybe up to 15fps in high altitudes. I have:ASUS A8V-E SE motherboardAMD Athlon 64 X2 dual 4600+ processor3gb RAMNvidia Geforce 7900 GT/GTOrunning windows XP, and with almost only FsX and windows installed on the computer.I am running activeSky and radar contact, but it doesn't seem to do any difference for framerates though.I can't figure out how to get the old nvidia driver (to be honest I can't even remember which one I had before) But maybe thats not even the problem? or?thanks in advance-Lau

With any luck I will be able to hold out for an intel Mac that will offer a video card that is DX10 capable. Anyone hear of any good news in this regard yet? As OSX is very mature, and Leopard looks nice, I am more and more tempted to go the dual boot route just for the experience of learning a new platform. Without DX10 support tho, I doubt I would go there . . .Noel

I would like to ask someone who might have the experience of use or I.T. experience in the comparison of for example, two identical video cards, with the ONLY difference in the amount of their on board memory 256 MB vs 512 MBIn FS9 and/or FSX 'real world usage', not white paper---is there a really TRUE difference in the performance of the higher on board memory card?If you would answer yes to that, in WHAT WAY, is that added performance seen via FS9 or FSX?I can't really find much on this subject over the Net as pertains to flight simulation usage of the card(s).Your opinions and experiences would be most welcome! Thanks,Mitch

Guys,Just constructed a new rig and the video is an 8600GT. The problem I am having is that the anti-aliasing and A-filtering are not working in FS2004. I have tried the forceware 162.18, and Rivatuner but no joy. I tried FSX and I think it may be working in that although I am not totally sure visually.Any ideas why this might be the case?ThanksShez

If you want a great graphics card--- ATI X1950 Pro 256 MB for a limited-time insane price...which by the way, runs FS9 like a dream-come-true, with no blurries on ground textures, high FPS's If this makes you lick your FS9 lips...here is the time limited link to the sale page. This part will very much bring the smile factor up quite a few FS9 notches! It is also Cross-Fire ready. You need two of these little darlings, and two PCI-E slots side by side. The Cross-Fire dongles (to attach the two cards together) are included in the package. Cross-Fire for $300.00?!? Hmmmmm.....The current asking sale price for what this card brings to the table is unbelievable value. Sale e…

Why the FSX uninstalling lasts almost forever ?I got a message of very low disk space and decided uninstall the fsx until I provide a bigger HD.The uninstalling process seems very like the install process (lots of files access...). Suddenly an error was reported in msi.dll and a roll back ocurred. Lots of time lost. Why ??

I am having problems when booting up my Asus P5W DH Deluxe system. Although I have tried all manner of solutions to fix the problem it still remains. The system does actually boot, but windows will not load. The start up will not reach the blue screen to allow me to choose which account to sign in by, but instead gets stuck with the 3 green digits flashing across the screen.I concluded initially that there must have been Windows drivers either corrupt or missing, or both. I put the WinXP CD in the drive and entered BIOS, then booted from the CD. I allowed several drivers to load and then switched the PC off. I then rebooted, entered the BIOS and changed boot sequence prior…

HI,I am currently using a UK spec computer (Viglen) in the USA with transformers. It sadly does not have multivoltage. Its an Intel 3.06Ghz, running on a 250watt PSU. My question is - can I switch, or should I say remove the UK psu and install a US psu or would this fry all the circuits etc inside. I don't want to update my system yet as it still serves me well, but with the transformers, its allot of wattage I am running. Plus the expense of a new system!Appreciate your advice. Many thanks Adam

You can see my current video card in my sig, all monetary concerns aside what benefits would I see from upgrading to a 640mb 8800gts? Mainly I would like to be able to use lightbloom and max water textures, and see less blurries in the distance, everything else is maxed out and I am getting good fps. I also have to lower my aa setting to use 1680x1050 resolution, I would like to get better fps with aa on using this resolution.

I just ordered a Sony Vaio SZ650N/C notebook computer. Unfortunately, my current work/school situation requires me to have a notebook computer instead of a desktop. Hello Fellow Flightsimmers,I hope you are all well...I have a dilemma, possessing little technical knowledge I am unsure which hard drive would be more suitable, or should I say give better performance when running FS9. the contenders:Serial ATA 1.5Gb/s 10,000 RPM w/ NCQ & 16MB Cache ...or..RAID 0 Serial ATA 1.5 Gbit/s, 10,000 RPM with 32MB Cache (2 x 160GB).I have read alot about RAID 0 on this forum without ever really knowing why it seems to be favoured..(don't worry I will google that later)The same goes for running FSX, if I ever feel brave enough to dip my toe in that currently murky water. (No doubt I will and love it once the hardware and addons catch up!)Many…

I upgraded my CPU to quad, with a 4 cores under load it gets very HOT... up to 70C or more if I over clock it. So I picked up a Thermalright Extreme 120 CPU cooler. The dealer is backed up with service now, and suggested I try it myself.Anyone ever install one or a similar big cooler?I'm concerned about:1) How to remove my stock cooler2) How to best clean the CPU and then putting the amount right of paste on the cpu and cooler3) Maybe most of all, how will I ever get the MB back in the case with the massive HS attached?Any suggestions would be helpful, or should I just pay the price in cash and time to have it installed correctly?
