Yesterday I took delivery of Windows Vista Ultimate with plans on dual-booting the 64-bit Vista with XP Pro. I had a few issues here and there with things like the boot loader and with the extra 2 GB of RAM I also bought and hoped to put in the machine.During installation/configuration, I started digging around my machine and just thought that it might be time to strike it all and start over with a clean installation of everything, including XP and Vista. Maybe then I can rework my overclock to be more efficient (if possible) and have a clean slate from which to work. Maybe I can also get that stupid boot loader and the extra 2 gigs of RAM to work without as much heada…

I just checked my website where I purchased my 1950 Pro 256 MB card.Interesting in that the regular asking price of the card at this site went up around $73.00!!!Never mind going down from the regular non-sale asking price of $249.00, as this card has been out for some time, but rather, have just seen that the regular asking price is now a whopping $322.99!Obviously this card has become **wildly popular** and they (in my opinion) are trying to take advantage of that fact with increased pricing for the part.Sad to see them doing this. Just last week, they were selling it for $249.00 minus $100.00 ($149.00 sale net)Plain greed at $322.99....sorry to see them do this. They …

HiI'm using a dual monitor setup purely for VC use but not with TH2G, just the dual o/ps from my graphics card.Looking at the TH2G site, i noticed their Monitor Bezel Management sofware that looked very impressive. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of an equivalent utility that is available that does the exact same thing but is not tied into TH2G ?Many thanks Gary

Hi All,For those of you with NVIDIA cards who are unaware of this resource, I came across the following link from one of our fellow simmers at the Level-D support forum. He said "I have found this http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_fsx_techtips.html to be absolutely huge!!!"Well, I applied the settings recommended at this link and I was blown away. I've been flying for a week now using these recommended settings (well, actually tweaked a bit to allow more traffic and complexity). I have no blurries now. Absolutely, positively, none, no matter what aircraft I fly. In my opinion these nzone recommendations are invaluable.I hope this helps some of you!-Rick----------- My Syst…

hope 1)I've got the right forum 2)someone else has had this problem and was able to deal success.I have a Saitek X-45 that has just started acting up. About 20-30 mins. into every flight, the buttons and axes all have a delayed response. It takes 2-3 seconds to switch views or even change heading;but the keyboard (wireless Logitech) gives an instant response.(as does the stick initially at startup)A Saitek tech. on their support forum said it is typical with Nvidia chipsets to experience this. He suggested I remove the checks from the USB Root Hubs in the device mngr. which I did with negative results. This problem is also present on F4/AF;and CFS3.Hope someone can help. Th…

That's the question, which is better? I know the 6850 is probably faster on fsx and the majority of apps and games right now, but I am worried that might change in the future as applications are written to take advantage of the 4 cores (FSX SP2 maybe?).What do you think?

Does XP detect most common SCSI adapters on install?Or do I need to prepare a 3.5" floppy with the driver on it like we used to do in the old days?I have a rig with an Adaptec 2940U2W (a pretty common SCSI-2 card) and I'd hate to reformat it and then not be able to install XP on it...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

No Experience with that one but I am waiting for the new Saitek Yoke to be delivered today. Based on the reviews and what I have heard it looks and sounds promising. This is a hopeless question, I think, but I'll give it a try. While it's easy to guess at the specs I need for hard drive, RAM, video card, and CPU, I'm stumped when it comes to the motherboard. There seem to be lots of alternatives at lots of different price points, with no clear way of telling what your money goes for. Any advice for learning how to match a motherboard to a system? If it's relevant, I'm looking at something like:Core 2 Duo E68502 x 1048 Mb Corsair RAMNVIDIA 8800GTS 640 MbThanks for your help.

Just wanted to get some opinions. I am in the process of building a new system with an Inter E6750. The motherboard that I have highly considered is an EVGA 680i model:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...9&Sku=E145-2011I was originally considering a P35 motherboard, but noticed that the second PCIe graphics slot only runs at 4x instead of 16x:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813127030One of the things that I wish to do with FSX is run multiple monitors from multiple graphics cards, so I thought it would make the most sense to go with the EVGA 680i model because it has two PCIe slots that run at 16x and an additional PCIe slot that runs at …

I'm pondering adding 2 more 17" LCD monitors with the Triple Head to Go for use with FSX and sometimes with FS2004 and X-Plane. Should I consider the digital or analog version? Do all LCD monitors take a digital input? Your expertise is appreciated.

I know I know, its been asked many a time. I'll admit though, I have been reading allot of the posts on this subject and find them sometimes conflicting. So here goes!I have a Gigabyte GA-8PE667 ultra mobo (3.06ghz), 1024mb PC2700, 160gb, and an ATI 9700 128. I run my resolution at 1024x768.Basically I would like to get more fluidity in the sim. It runs well but would like that little bit extra. I really do not want to upgrade for a while yet, so would upgrading my 9700 to an XFX GeForce 7600GT (AGP4) or equivalent give me that. Some posts I have seen have said you will get some improvement, but others say you need to change the CPU to get the improvement, and that changi…

Hi all:I just upgraded my memory from 1.5GB of memory to 4GB of DDR PC3200 400Mhz (4 1GB sticks)I was just wondering if there are some FS9 settings to change or system settings to change to take full use of all the new memory?I am seeing improvements, don't get me wrong, just never done this kind of upgrade before and just wanted to make sure there wasn't something else I need to do.I have a P4 2.4Ghz Desktop - now with 4GB of DDR PC3200 400 Mhz memory512 MB nvidia 7600GS video card20.1" wide screen LG LCD monitorThanks Paul.

MY Intel D975XBX2(Bad Dog) motherboard decided to give up the ghost, after only 7 months, a couple of days ago. It just plain refuses to POST and no matter what I tried it was dead! I called Intel yesterday and, to my surprise, after talking to a support tech for only 5 minutes I have a new board coming this morning cross shipped by them (WOW great service!)Anyway my question is, will I have to reinstall my XP OS, FSX and everything else, or will the replacement motherboard recognize everything as it was? It's an identical MB, but I wonder if the check-sum codes will prevent some of my installed programs to run! Can I just re-register or will it require a complete reinsta…

I would fly FSX more often if I could get my GoFlight MCP to function. All of the other modules work, except that one. Has this happened to anyone else in FSX? Any ideas? No one seems to have an answer in the GoFlight forums.Thanks,http://www.my-buddy-icon.com/Icons/objects/red_3d_plane.gifAlex ChristoffN562ZBaltimore, MD

Hello, I just want to inform you that Fsx Sp1 isn't working properly with a 8 cores computer. Sometimes it works, but usually "freeze" when I load a saved flight. If I set the affinity mask to use only 4 cores, it's OKHardware :MB Tyan S2696Cpu : 2 x Xeon E5345 (quad)Geforce 8800GTSRegards,

I am running FX with vista and I find that on a regular basis during a flight when I move the mouse which is a Trust Optical the screen resolution goes to large print and in large stripes it goes back to normal but seems linked to movement. Can anyone help please.eric

Greetings,I have a P4 3.0 Ghz proc, 2GB RAM, and just installed a Diamond ATI Viper Radeon 512Mb AGP video card, running Windows XP Pro SP2.I'm using FS9. Still deciding if FSX would be worth it for my setup. I have the PMDG 737-800/900 package installed, which I use primarily while flying on VATSIM.My question to anyone that can help me is, what settings should I use for my new video card from the settings menu in FS9? I tried maxing out all the sliders right, setting my display at 1600x1200/32, and a frame rate of 40 FPS. When trying a test flight with a C172 from KTEB, I noticed most buildings had some funky diagonal lines moving up the buildings.Maybe I need to re…

Apologies if this is the wrong forum....Please advise if it is.I have a Question(s).My current system is:- AMD AM2 3800 x2.Gecube Radeon X1600XT 256MB GDDR3.19" TFT 1280x1024.2GIG DDR 667MHZ RAM.Vista Premium.I have FS9 running really well using level D 767, heavy traffic all the addons etc...Getting what I expect out of such a system. The only thing that bugs me, is the constant flickering of the AI aircraft! Especially from a distance. I have mip slider at 4. And have the display adapter tuned up.Now my questions are 1.) Would I benefit from going to a better graphics card? Like a X1950XT or a DX10 8800GTS?2.) Would I benefit much from upping the CPU to a AMD AM2 5600 x2…

I have an AMD 4800+ X2 that I would like to experiment with overclocking, but would first like to try a better cooling solution. I have the stock AMD cooler using the stock gunk that comes with the CPU kit. Firstly, what's the best way to remove the existing gunk from the CPU, or is it even possible? Secondly, I have an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe. Any good cooling solutions recommended for this CPU/mobo combo?I have never tried water cooling and know little about it. Would this also be an option?Thanks- Bruce.
