Hi everyone!I'm going to be buying, a new PC shortly (well, my parents will be :-roll), after a nice 7-year wait. I've been asked to hunt out a system, and I'm going to be running FSX on it.Here is a config I was shown today and was wondering if anyone has any experience running FSX on something similar. Seems quite powerful to me! But I hear FSX is....mindbogglingly hard to satisfy. Here goes:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz3 GB RAM DDR800500 GB HDASUS Extreme N8800 GTS 640 MBWindows XP (our old SP2 version, will probably switch to Vista when other people have done the testing for us }( )The guy in the shop said it was a system very close to current top notch machines. I…

Hi, I've been reading posts about using Symantec products and generally speaking people think they hinder FSX performance- my question is simple; should I go to a whole new AV program or just turn off Norton and pull out the phone cable? Thanks

HI all: According to numerous posts I have read, my system runs considerably slower then other comparable systems frame rate wise.I have an AMD Athalon 64 X2 4200 toledo core. 1 gig pc2700 ram on an MSI K8T ne02 main board. I use an Nvidea 7600 GS 512 MB video card.On low to minimum settings in FSX I get 12-20 FPS maximum.this is with all traffic off, Global texture low, level of detail radius medium, mesh complexity 39, mesh resolution 152, water effects 2x, scenery complexity normal, autogen density normal, special effects medium.I have tweaked fsx.cfg until the cows come home, and got no milk from it. I have applied all kinds of autogen patches, texture patches and eve…

Look at this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813186098Will this work with my OCZ modtsream 520w psu? I guess what I'm wondering is will all the connectors from my PSU and case and GPU be alright connecting to this new AM2 mobo?I think I'm going to upgrade and go AMD6000Corsair 2x1 GB ramand this Foxconn mobo....there's a huge rebate right now, and on the RAM....after rebates, the total is around 330 USD....which I think is pretty good. HiI am running Intel Core Duo E6850 3ghz, 2 gig mem, x1950pro 512mb.Problem is in windowed mode the screen updates around 1 fps. In full screen the update is ok. If I disable AA the screen in windowed mode updates ok but without the AA, obviously! Why is the AA slowing the windowed mode when my nvidia 7800 didnt? I need windowed for dual monitor! Also if I use Aerosoft AES or Active cam config menu or any other addin window it doesnt display on the screen. If I alt-tab out of fs9 then bring it up again I can see the menu in the centre of the screen flicker on then off quickly but it doesnt display.Any ideas please? I have tried different settings/drivers ie 7.5 to 7.9 offi…

Is it out yet? I've read a few reviews and they love it. I'm looking for something more realistic than the mushy plastic CH Yoke, but I would rather spend an hour in a real plane than buy something that is only as good as the CH yoke. I want real opinions- not reviewers. Have any real pilots tried it out yet? It would be nice to have the real chronometer in the yoke for sure.

Anyone else having trouble with the Saitek Yoke? I have it calibrated just fine, but I get random button pushes for no reason. At first I thought it was something I had wrong in the config or just me bumping them by mistake, but now I see the problem. I pause a flight and walk away for a short break and come back to find fs2004 in tower view. I also get random view movements. I've had the parking break release during engine startup as well. Just curious if others have the same problem, or if this is something specific to my hardware?I'm back to my old x52 until this can get resolved. Can't have my AP turning off in the middle of flight on me.

I'm in the market for a new LCD monitor but I'm not sure which format to get, either widescreen or 4:3. My current setup is not top of the line but it runs FS9 decent. It is an Ahtlon XP 2500+ OC to 3200 speed with a GeForce 6600GT video card. The lcd screens that I have looked at are a 20" 4:3 monitor and a 22" widescreen monitor. What do you guys think? My current monitor is a Sony 19" CRT.ThanksEd

This is really going out to any simmer who's done this. Was thinking of replacing my ATI X800 XT All-In-One with a X1950 Pro (or whatever is the best X1950 out there), for my aging AGP system. Waiting for DX10 dust to settle before I move up to my Quad core system. So in the meantime was thinking a little upgrade. Now I know I would not see any improvement in FPS but was thinking going from 256 to 512 MB, a little more horsepower in the core speed, and from an AIO to a true gaming card would maybe help out on some stuttering - load times, render quality, etc. What do ya think? Anybody done this? What flavor should I go for and what 3rd party Cards have worked well fo…

Have my saitek yoke a few days now (this is my first yoke btw). I wont bother adding another review. Ill just say its excellent so far and i highly recommend it. There was one thing that bothered me about it (like most sticks I've had). The tension on the pitch axis springs was too high not allowing for a smooth control action that i prefer. The roll tension is however is just about perfect imo.In the past I've even sometimes completely removed all tension in my sticks when i couldn't mod the tension, however this is an unsatisfactory solution as some tension is desirable for obvious reasons . Thus I modified my yoke to cut the pitch tension by ~50%. I thought others migh…

I just built a new system and am having very long load times when I hit the Fly Now button. During the load process FSX says that it has loaded 100%, but then just sits there for about 2-3 minutes, and then the flight begins. I am thinking of uninstalling and then reinstalling FSX.First, does a reinstall seem like a practical solution to try to eliminate the issue? And if not, any suggestions.Second, if i do reinstall FSX, are any special steps or precautions that I need to take to assure that nothing goes wrong along the way? I am planning on defragging the hard drive after the uninstallation. Also, how would I make sure to get rid of any remnants of FSX during the …
