Hi,Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm still having difficulty understanding memory usage etc.I use Vista 64 on a 64 bit motherboard so both recognise my 4G RAM - no problem there.Do I still need to modify the FSX.exe and FS9.exe header so that the applications can use the 4G?ThanksPaul

Although a flight simmer for many years I am a first time computer assembler & would appreciate a little (or even a lot of) help. I need to know the order in which to do things to cause the least problems. I appreciate that this is very basic for many of you but believe me it is of concern to a non expert.1. I have downloaded all the latest drivers with my old machine & burnt them onto a CD. I anticipate using these in preference to the ones that came with the components. Correct? 2. I have a pile of very expensive (to me anyway) new components & Vista Home Premium OEM. Do I put it all in the case, connect them up & then switch on (which I can do) or do I …

The general talk seems to be that Intel has the advantage over AMD with regards to duo processors. I am thinking of buying, You can accept the certificate for the session. It will ask you everytime.https://secure.cbit.ca/retail_productdetail...dNo=CPU-I58-523 It looks like a fast processor. Hi all-I just received my new computer a few days ago and have installed FSX which is running pretty well. My new computer has a Quad Core 2.4 6600 in it and I had a question regarding how it works. I'm coming from a 3.4ghz Pentium. Does FSX know how to allocate itself to each of the four processors efficiently? Are there any adjustments that I need to make? Thanks,Mark

On my wife's Dell 2400 PC...It has onboard sound....and at one time, I put a cheap 6 ch sound card in...then took that out about 6 months ago because the dang mic port didn't work.Recently, her speakers have only been playing out of the left speaker only (back to onboard at this point, and yes, I uninstalled drivers to the cheapo card before renabling and installing onboard drivers). So, I tried to reinstall the onboard drivers....still only works with the left speaker. Today, I connected my speakers to her PC and still we only heard the left speaker. At this point I thought it was her motherboard...Ok... so I uninstalled the drivers AND disabled onboard sound in her BIOS…

OK.. I have Win XP and have FSX in one hard disk and FS9 in another hard disk. Each one is a RAID 0.I am trying to avoid reinstalling both...but I want to add Vista. Can I simply add another internal physical Hard disk drive V: and then install Vista on this drive as dual boot? This way If I don't care for Vista, I can always log into my XP and get back to what I have now?And when I try to install an OS like Vista, I don't remember ever asking me where to install. It always assumes the C: drive. I am worried if I install another disk and install Vista. Its simply going to overwrite my XP.Manny

Hi!Don't know if this is the right forum for my query, if it isn't, I'm sorry.I'm getting a new PC shortly and I've ordered a new OEM version of Windows XP with it. Now the price list I selected it from did not say that it included SP2 (compulsory to run FSX of course). If it doesn't, will I be able, with this version of XP, to download and install SP2? Or is that impossible because of the OEM tag on the product key? Thanks for any replies! :D:DMatti

I fail to understand why Microsoft releases an OS that cannot handle current standards of sound?Or why does Aces make a flight simulator that cannot handle sound in Vista? I use an audio application, Cubase4, with this Audigy 2Z in Vista32 and have not encountered a single stutter even with a really full load of fifteen virtual instruments all using my soundcard at the same time: it is smooth as can be with very low latency. Now why cant Aces FSX handle souond? Seems ironicMy sound stutters quite a lot while fyingallenE6600 quad2G RAM8600GTSAudigy 2Z with Vista driversVista 32

I am currently running FS9.1 on a Dell 8400 (P4 3.2 GHz, 2 GByte RAM, ATI X800 XL, Sound Blaster card) system.I run FS9.1 with Active Camera, FSGenesis Mesh, Ground Environment, AS6.5, Ultimate Traffic with World of AI planes where available, and Ultimate Terrain. I also have airports from Flight Scenery, Fly Tampa, and Cloud 9 as well as the PMDG 737NG with FS2Crew. My FS9 settings are maxxed out except for AI (80%), no ground shadows, and I've removed the default.xml from the autogen folder. The reason I'm thinking of upgrading (or maybe getting some other help from you fine folks) is that sitting at KSEA in the default Cessna 172 in VC mode on a clear day with 50 vi…

Well I don't have the newest Joystick from Saitek and it is out of warranty... I have the X45 and I have been very happy using it for some time now.The POT which controls the main throttle level in my X45 gave up the ghost. After some adjusting and fiddling I could not get it working again. Saitek support advised what I needed to try all the way through. Now that I have done it and it is not working... they are shipping to me a new POT!!! I recently bought their Rudders and it was around 2 weeks after getting them this problem appeared. So I really got no time to have stick and rudders working together. This is going to make a MASSIVE difference.Big BIG thank you Saitek!

I'm looking at two different laptops for FS (mainly FS9, but also FSX). One has the AMD Turion X2 TL-60 (2Ghz) and the other has the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 (2.33Ghz).The other core features are pretty much the same for each system - ie 2GB RAM, 7200RPM HDD and 2x Geforce 7950GTX SLI graphics.Other than the CPU the major difference between the systems is the screen - the AMD system has a 20" screen and the Intel system has a 17" screen.I've been reading up on the difference I can expect between the two CPUs. From what I can tell for the fairly mundane everyday tasks like web browsing, watching DVDs and the odd bit of word processing I will notice no difference between thes…
