Hi all,Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. Not really a hardware question, maybe. When I installed WinXP Pro on my computer, I choose to install the OS on the physical drive #1 (not #0). In WinXP the drive is assigned the drive letter E, which hasn't been any problem at all with any software, except Weather Maker RX and now the Weather Maker X. The installer for Weather Maker seems to be hardcoded to access a C: drive, and the Installer terminates with this error message.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179065.jpgI've posted on the Weather Maker support forum regarding this error. But i don't expect any help there, because I posted on exactly the same issue when …

I've got a brand new Asus 6800GTS card, advertised as a 256 MB card.Every reporting tool, however, identifies this card as having 512 MB on board.Win XP Device Manager, DXdiag, Memstatus, Nvidia Control panel etc.Is the card possibly mis-representing itself, or is Asus shipping more memory without telling anyone?Only reason I'm concerned, is if it is really 256 MB and FSX believes it is 512.. funny things might happen..

Anyone know why the very thin stratus layers kill FPS? I can run nice puffy cumulus's (two layers) and get more than double my FPS if I were to run a some stratus clouds...Anyone know why??? in the pics you see the first shot with about 8fps, the second shot is around 18http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179049.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/179050.jpg

Hi all,I've recently bought a new PC for FSX (Q6600 + ASUS P5KC)In Bios, "speedstep" is disabled (it's the default setting) but I see with various utilities (CPUz, Asus AI) that the clock is 1600(multiplier 6x) when idle, and it goes up to 2400 (multiplier 9x)under load. This is just what the processor is supposed to do with speedsteb enabled, but how is it possible with speedstep disabled?Any thoughts? Thanks in advanceFulvio

Hi again, I have the choice of 4 OS for new build and will most likely dual boot: XP Pro, XP Pro 64 bit, Vista Business, Vista Business 64 bit. Which would you choose, up to two? I am concerened about the lack of driver support for 64bit, but I could use the 3 gb switch as I would like to try 4GB Ram with my OC. This is for FSX and the near future and I currently have (1) 250GB HD in this system. A DX10 board will be the next addition. Thanks for your opinions.EDIT: While here I'm askin..... I also got an easy OC to 3.2 on stock voltages (55-57C load with orthos after 8 hours). My ram timings are 5-5-5-18 - how much difference would it make to try and tighten thos…

Hello,I know there has been a lot of posts about this, and a lot of them are being ignored, but i have searched and searched for the anwser to this, and i cant find anything, so PLEASE help me out here if you dont :)----------------I just built a new pc, but i have yet to get a video card for it, and i was wondering what video card you would recomend, that is reasonable priced, and not a $500 gfx card. The maximum i can afford is around $250 - 300 Max. The cheaper the better, but i want one that will allow FSX to run on full graphics (Minus the Vehicle Traffic, if needed)Here are my system specs that may help you be able to help me better:AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (Dual Core)…

Today my Geforce 6800LE card which I use on a test PC suddenly started acting up. All corrupted graphics (even in text mode on the BIOS screen), as if some RAM chip was returning random data.Apparently some solder connection or something else on the PCB got loose and this problem was underneath the cooler assembly which covers RAM and GPU.I figured pinching the board with two fingers got rid of the graphics errors, so I attached a clothes-pin to the graphics card which exerts some pressure - and now FSX runs smooth again.Mac Guyver would have been proud of me. Clothes-pin for the win.

I was waiting to post this until after I tested it out, but it seems many people are frustrated and hopefully this will help.I am having the same problem with random button presses and the yoke will stop responding. After some research, I found out that my USB chipset on my motherboard is designed to go into a low power state after a few minutes and that the Saitek Yoke doesn't like that. I then tried it on a newer computer with a different USB chipset and the yoke works perfectly. I bought a new USB 4 port add on PCI card to put in my older computer and see if it works. I'll post the results soon.

Davis Takanawa,Could you please answer this question---> With such a state of the art system (gaming rig/and your cooling system is nothing short of amazing!) Could you please let us know how it performs in fs9 and fsx? I want to know if blurries still occur or the lag in a texture not showing up rightaway in say 3d cockpit mode with 100% traffic in a detailed addon scenery area.I myself use fs9 still because all of my addons. Many of us may not even have your type of set up for years to come.I look forword in reading your response.Thank you

Hi all, Im sick of jaggies now and have decided to stick with FS9 a while longer. So my questions are:-1.) Would you recommend going to a 8800GTS or an ATI 2900PRO?2.) Will the card eliminate the jaggies in fs9?3.) Would this make FSX any faster on my current system?IanAMD AM2 3800x2X1600XT GDDR3 256MB2Gig DDR 667MHZ19"TFT @ 1280x1024Vista Ultimate 32

I use the Matrox Triple Head 2 Go with Track IR in VC mode with planes like PMDG 747/Level D 767 and I sit about 20-24 inches away from the centre monitor.. I was wondering if there was a way of working out a correct zoom setting so I am seeing a realistic viewpoint of the cockpit. I tend to use a setting of 0.40 which seems pretty good... just wondering what everybody else does? Thanks

Purchased these rudder pedals from The Nerds.net on May 02, 2007 and the left pedal has hung up. If I put the right pedal forward, the left pedal will then move very freely and when I let go of both pedals, they are not centered. Something is hanging the mechanism up and I wander what I can do to make it right. Also, Is there a warranty with these pedals as I have the orginal paperwork from TheNerds.net on the purchase of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. jack

I am considering building a computer to run FSX and I am considering my options carefully. I was wondering which of these runs FSX the best, the Core 2 Duo E6850, or the Core 2 Quad Q6700? If the Q6700 will run it better, is there a huge performance difference between it and the Core 2 Extreme QX6850? I know the first question may sound stupid but I have heard reports that the Dual Core runs FSX faster than the Quad and so I wanted to see if that was true or not. Thanks in advance!:-)
