I upgraded from a AMD 3700 stock 2.2GHz to AMD X2 6000...not much of a difference????My fsx hasn't been performing well ...after about 5min of flying time around KMSP I get massive blurries....everything goes blurry, including my plane, as you can see here... I NEVER saw this with my AMD3700.... locking FPS, unlocking, doesn't matter, it just goes to crap.... am I undervolting or something? I set my RAM back to stock timings....5-5-5-18 (even though its supposed to run 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v tested) Aquamark 3D runs THE SAME as my 3700 did.....that's not right... About the only way I can tell I have a 6000 in there and not a 3700 is from SuperPi....1M digits takes 29 sec....used…

I have a dual boot system with XP and Vista on separate drives.Currently, FS9 & FSX are installed under XP, again on separate drives.I wan't FS9 & FSX to also run under the Vista install. Do i have to reinstall them both again, or is possible to somehow access the other installations from Vista? Presumeably, there'd be some sort of registry problem? Thanks

Having made do with just a stick for the past year and a half, I'm looking to pick up a decent second hand pair of pedals, so am scouting round for them at present. CH Pedals look like the best bet at present, but I'm getting a bit confused about the different variations out there. Here are a few questions that I thought people who own a pair might know the answer to:- Did the older versions of the pedals have only ON/OFF braking on the toebrakes and not gradual braking (hoping to not land myself with the former, as having proper braking control seems the whole point of the excercise!)?- Were there any disadvantages to the ones with Gameport connectors rather than USB?-…

I have a self-built system based on the 875P Neo chipset. Processor is Intel P4 3.0GHz. It was built back in Jan 2004.Booting up this morning a message was displayed saying the CMOS was incorrect. On further investigation neither of my two SATA drives are recognised in the bootup options - just a IDE CD drive. The drives are connected okay and it seems inconceivable that both have failed.I'm guessing that something on the mobo has failed - probably the SATA controller. Given the age of this system I'm finding it difficult to find a suitable mobo. Can anyone recommend a suitable alternative? I'm in no hurry to buy a new system and even when I do this system will be used in …

I installed 2 brand new sticks of fully compatible 1GB RAM from crucial.com in my DELL XPS Gen 4 this evening and raised total physical RAM from 2GB to 3GB. The good news is that it works fine and I checked with three utilities that the RAM is indeed now 3GB. The disappointing news is that FS9 runs exactly the same as before with no increase in loading speeds or any other speed or anything at all.I'd already made the 3GB switch edit in the boot.ini last week to address a recent OOM flying around EGLL and so far, so good. I ain't complainin' about that !On flying the PMDG 747-400 into Aerosoft's Heathrow 2008 with 10% UT AI and using triple monitors for the VC (which is…

I guess this its for those who are wondering about how much ram to bye. I read an interesting article yesterday in a pc magazine about memory mapping. It seems that windows maps the PCI address space to the 4 gig limit and down from there , under that comes your video card adress space, ie if you have 4 gig of ram and have a 512 meg video card you loose 512 meg of you memory as that section is mapped to the video card, and this applies to 32 or 64 bit os and i assume from what it says that vista is no different, makes a good case for staying at the 3 gig limit. mind you if you get more then 4 gig anything above that is free. There are articles on the web abt this.

Futureshop lists products as available but when you go to their store it is not available. I went to buy the 8800GT, drive miles out of my way, get there, and they have never even heard of it. Their internet site says they are "in stock" at the location in questionThe store manager does not see this as a problem. Right, not his problem.I guess they meant MAYBE IN STOCK ??They pulled the same crap on me when the acceleration was out. I had to go there 4 times before they "really" were in stock. Great sales tactic or sloppy accounting?Allen

I have a susyem with 2 SATA HD's in RAID0 configuration. My understanding is that the data is stored on both drives, and cannot be accessed from a single drive alone.I want to install a new motherboard, which will mean a new OS (XP) install. Will I loose the data on my 2 drives (other than the OS partition that I need to re-install)when I hook up these new drives to my new system? My understanding is that when I create a new RAID0 configuration on my new PC that all data is lost on the 2 HD's, and even if I chose not to use RAID0 and just use the drives in conventional (non-RAID) configuration, that neither drive will have complete data, but only partial data.Any sugge…

I am putting a new system together- M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard; AMD 6000+ X2 dual core processor; 2 gigabytes Ultra DDR2 800 MGH RAM, Maxtor Sata II/300 HD so far aquired. That leaves the vid card and the PSU. Question 1: If I get a DX10 enabled card, can I still use it with XP and DX9? I don't plan to go to Vista till FSXI.Question 2: Does SLI work in flight sim? If not I will stick with 1 card till FSXI (if it supports SLI then).Question 3: What wattage power supply would I need to grow into an SLI setup with two 8800 family high RAM cards? The 6000+ is hungry too I hear...Thanx in advance for your assistance.Best Regards, Donald T. :-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions o…

Hi allJust last week FS 2004 was fantastic, weekend just gone I was showing a friend the sim and to give him a good idea of what a complex sim we run I rotated through some AI aircraft approaching KFSO.It was when I was doing this I noticed that the A.C and scenery textures took a long time to come into focus and stabilize, remaining grey for a long period of time. Now usually when i install a new AI aircraft I do the same thing to take a look at it in flight etc and normally the textures redraw quickly even quicker if I use FS Autostart.I have not upgraded anything in FS 2004. I did a memory check all through last night with memtest nothing was picked up. I have reseated…

I think I'm nearing the point of ordering my new system. But I have a choice of the following OSs:Vista Home premium 32 or 64 bit.Vista Ultimate 32 or 64 bit.Or XP Home (which I have now on this dying system)I'm looking at a fairly high spec machine. Probably a quick quad core with 2 gig of 1066 DDR2. I'm wrestling between a pair of 8800GTXs or 8800Ultras or also very interested in the new 8800GT.I know that to take full advantage of a 64 bit quad core CPU would take a 64 bit OS. But I also catch little blurbs that maybe Vista 64 bit is not all that stable. The only tech info that I have been able to understand is that there are "driver issues" with 64 bit.The 64 bit vers…

I wonder if you X52pro owners could answer a few questions about controlling the FSX radio stack? How much of it can you control? Can you program the auto pilot and radio's using the thumb wheels on the MFD?Is it of much use? I have an x52, but I'm interested in an easier way to program the auto pilot and radio's. Is anyone aware of another relatively low cost usb radio stack controller type thinga ma' jig?I'd appreciate all the info you could give me.Thanks!!

Hi folks, Any recommendations for speakers for a PC? Obviously for FSX but also for Crysis and the occasional DVD.Do I go for 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1? Is there a sweet spot in value for money terms? I don't want to spend more than $300.Cheers,Noel.

Dear FriendsI have decided to buy a laptop, specifically either the Dell Inspiron 1520 or the Sony VGN-FZ15G. I would like to know what would my expectations be in running FSX using an intel T7100 core duo 2 centrino CPU as is found in the Sony FZ15G compared to the intel core duo 2 CPU as is available in the dell inspiron 1520. I am inclined to get the sny machine even though the dell is better. My question is, would the sony laptop struggle to handle fsx and sophisticated add-ons (like systems heavy airliner sims and add on airports)? I believe that both offer decent nvidia geforce cards 8400 or 8600.All comments much appreciated..

After a break from simming, I am wanting to get back in the game and fly a little. Currently, my FS9 install is a bit overloaded and suffering from OOM crashes, such that I am having difficulty finishing flights. Therefore I have decided to wipe the slate clean and start over. Fresh install of XP too.My question is, should I take this opportunity to really wipe the slate clean and go to FSX, or should I stay with FS9 and still enjoy the many scenery addons I have already purchased? My logic in considering FSX is that I will be dialing back the complexity a bit, and not doing much airliner simming anymore (as I don't always have enough time to do so) and therefore I wi…

I've just rebuilt my FS computer and everything seems to be workingjust fine except for slew mode.I've got three separate peripherals for FS. CH Yoke LE USBCH Pedals USBSaitek X52 throttle part only, also USBI've been using this set-up for sometime without problems butthis time when I go in slew mode to move the aircraft slightly into correct position at the gate, the aircraft goes crazy and starts turning round and round; trying to use pedals to stabilizemovement doesn't work either. Not sure how to fix this problemand any help/advice much appreciated. Thanks & regards

Hi,I've set up FSX SP1 on QX6850 / 4 GB RAM / 8800Ultra / Vista 64, meaning DX10 comes with the OS and the graphics adapter is DX10 compatible. Now, if I try to start FSX I get the message that FSX can't be started as it requires DX 9.0. Does it mean that I need SP2/Accelleration to run FSX on Vista 64? Shouldn't it be possible to run DX9 apps in a DX10 environment as DX10 should be downwards compatible DX9?Could somebody help me out there? Thanks, Thomas
